Chapter 138: CH 138: The end of a hardened criminal (MUC6)
With a swift motion, Dave summoned his undead beasts from his void space, a horde of five hundred undead creatures that emerged from the shadows. They formed a semi-circle around him, their empty eye sockets fixed on the approaching beasts. The ground trembled beneath their feet as they immediately charged at them.
Dave’s eyes flicked between the direction where Kim Hyun had escaped to, and the bat-like beasts hovering around him. His mind was calculating the best course of action. He wanted to chase after Hyun, but these beasts are so disturbing, and he didn’t want to waste his energy points on taming them as he might need them for a more critical situation later on.
Moreover, he has no choice but to come to a decision. And that was to deal with the bat beasts first, and then chase after Kim Hyun later. Instantly, he had turned his attention to the bat-like beasts clinging onto him.
Their tiny claws dug deep into his skin, and their leathery wings fluttered wildly as they tried to maintain their grip. Dave’s face twisted in distaste as he reached up to deal with the annoying creatures. He hated when something hover around him like bees, flies and mosquitoes, and these bat-like beasts were no exception.
With a sudden movement, Dave clapped his hands together, the sound echoing through the air as he did this. The bat-like beasts that had been clinging to him were instantly crushed, their tiny bodies falling limp to the ground.
With four down, and twenty-six to go, Dave repeated the same motion, clapping his hands together in rapid succession, each time eliminating a few more of the pesky creatures.
As he worked to clear himself of the bat-like beasts, Dave’s undead horde continue to fight the approaching beasts. The beasts have a large body, but Dave’s undead beasts have an even larger body, which casts a long shadow on the ground. But it wasn’t just their massiveness, they also have terrifying strength as well.
After a couple of minutes of relentless clapping against the bats, Dave had finally rid himself of the annoying bat-like beasts. The last creature had fell off, its tiny body slumping lifeless to the ground. freewёbnoνel.com
Dave’s gaze swept the area, his mind shifting focus to his next task: and that was finding Kim Hyun. The sword fight had ended in defeat for Kim Hyun, but the system hadn’t rewarded him. Dave’s intuition told him that the system required a more definitive victory, one that ended in Kim Hyun’s demise.
With renewed determination, Dave set off in pursuit of Kim Hyun, following the direction he had fled to. He scanned his surroundings, his eyes darting left and right as he searched for any sign of his quarry. The silence was oppressive, punctuated only by the crunch of rubles and destroyed parts of building beneath his feet.
As he turned a corner, Dave’s gaze landed on a door that was swinging slightly, its motion betraying the fact that someone had recently passed through it. A smile crept onto Dave’s lips as he approached the door, his senses on high alert. He pushed the door open, slipping silently into the new area.
Dave’s footsteps were muffled as he moved through the space, his eyes scanning the surroundings for any sign of Kim Hyun. And then, he saw it – a back turned towards him, the figure oblivious to the danger lurking mere feet away. Dave’s smile grew wider as he crept closer, his movements stealthy and calculated.
Dave stepped closer, his eyes locking onto the figure. It was indeed Kim Hyun, but the man’s expression was twisted in desperation. As he turned to face Dave, the blade of his sword glinted in the dim light, its tip pressed firmly against his stomach. "Stay back!" Kim Hyun shouted, his voice laced with a mix of fear and determination. "I’m going to kill myself if you don’t stay back!"
Dave’s response was unexpected. His eyes furrowed in a ’what does that have to do with me’ kind of expression, and he shrugged. "You want to kill yourself? Feel free," he said, his tone nonchalant.
Kim Hyun’s eyes widened in surprise, and he hesitated, his plan to deceive Dave crumbling. "You’re not going to stop me?" He asked, his voice tinged with disappointment.
Dave’s response was blunt. "Why? Am I a cop? I don’t need you alive, so go ahead and kill yourself." Kim Hyun’s face twisted in frustration, and he let out a cry of rage. "I know you won’t do it anyway. You cherish your life more than anything."
The air seemed to vibrate with Kim Hyun’s anger as he moved his sword, aiming a strike at Dave. But before he could even react, Dave had already moved, vanishing from his position and reappearing in the same spot moments later.
Kim Hyun’s eyes widened in amazement. "I didn’t see it wrong that time. You really can appear and disappear."
Dave’s smile was enigmatic. "Wrong," he said, moving again, this time at a speed that was still blistering but not quite as fast as before. Kim Hyun’s eyes followed him, and he realized that Dave’s movement was based on pure speed, not teleportation.
The man’s face contorted in shock and awe. "You! What are you! How can you have taming abilities, and can also move faster!" he exclaimed.
Dave’s response was casual, almost offhand. "Well, like some people once said, I’m a god. So you can say that I’m a god."
Kim Hyun’s face turned red with rage, and he spluttered, unable to form words. He turned to flee, but it was too late. Dave appeared in front of him, his sword flashing in the dim light. With a single, swift motion, across his neck, Kim Hyun’s life was extinguished.
As the man’s body slumped to the ground, the system appeared above Dave’s face, updating him about his newly achieved task.
