Chapter 21: CH 021: One Hit
Tasha was ready. She stood tall, her eyes focused as she climbed onto the stage, each step radiating determination. She wasn’t just prepared to fight, she was prepared to give everything she had, leaving no room for doubt or mercy.
Despite her boldness and reckless actions, Anthony and the rest of the executives could only watch from the sidelines. It was Tasha’s deliberate choice to test Dave, but what better way than for her to face him herself?
When they saw her climp up the stage, there was no need for intervention. Yet, as they observed the scene unfolding, there was a mix of curiosity and concern on their faces. They did not act. They did not speak. They merely only watched.
At that moment announcer’s voice boomed over the arena, signaling the start of the match. "And let the match begin!"
The crowd erupted in anticipation, the tension palpable as both fighters stood poised for the first move. The spotlight shone on Tasha, highlighting her resolve, while Dave stood across from her, a calm expression written on his face. The atmosphere was electric, and the entire hall seemed to be holding its breath, waiting for the clash to begin.
But just as the match was about to commence, a loud and frantic voice pierced through the tension from the midst of the crowd.
"No! Stop! Stop the fight!"
The crowd fell silent in confusion, the unexpected interruption hanging in the air like a heavy weight. The voice belonged to none other than Ajax, his bandaged head visible as he pushed his way through the crowd, desperately trying to reach the front. His face was twisted in worry and panic, his movements frantic as he navigated through the sea of spectators.
Ajax had just witnessed Dave’s last opponent, Sonya, being humiliated and ultimately defeated by a single slap from him. The memory of that crushing defeat lingered in his mind, and he could not bear the thought of seeing his Aunt, Tasha, suffer the same or almost similar fate. He knew what Dave was capable of, and he wasn’t about to let her fall victim to the same devastating display of strength.
Ajax’s heart raced as he pushed himself forward, every step fueled with urgency. The thought of Tasha, his strong, confident Aunt, being reduced to nothing more than a casualty in Dave’s fight was unbearable. After all, he himself had been knocked out by Dave with a single strike, an experience he never wanted to relive. He couldn’t stand the thought of Tasha suffering the same humiliation, not after what had happened to him.
No. This would not be another embarrassment for their family.
With each push through the crowd, Ajax’s mind raced. He could already hear the murmurs of disbelief as people wondered what his intention was. But he couldn’t let the fight continue. Not now. Not like this.
"I won’t let her be humiliated," he muttered under his breath, determination filling his chest as he neared the front. He couldn’t stop thinking of the impending disaster. If Dave defeated Tasha the same way he had defeated Sonya, it would be a crushing blow to their honor. Ajax couldn’t allow it. He had to stop it.
As Ajax reached the front, the executives and Anthony exchanged wary glances, realizing the potential fallout of the match. They had all seen Dave’s strength, and although they had hoped for a fair contest, Ajax’s intervention might mean more than just stopping the fight, it could signal something deeper. Hell, he isn’t thinking of taking Dave on again, is he?
A wave of attention swept across the arena. Every pair of eyes turned in Ajax’s direction, and the atmosphere shifted from one of excitement to one of confusion and curiosity. The whispers started almost immediately, rippling through the crowd like wildfire.
"Isn’t he the first guy who got defeated by Dave?" one voice murmured, barely above a whisper, but it was enough to spark a fresh round of speculation.
"Yes, the one who was taken out by just a single hit," another voice responded, more assured than the first.
The crowd began to buzz with realization, and the whispers grew louder.
"You mean, the first person to be defeated by Dave’s incredible one-hit strike?" someone else chimed in. "Because right now, we’ve got two others who has been defeated the exact same way."
The realization had started spreading rapidly, and people who had no idea who Ajax was were soon starting to connect the dots. It was clear now, Ajax was not just anyone. He was Dave’s first victim, one of the few who could attest to the brutal power of Dave’s fighting style.
"Yeah, you’re right," another voice piped up, his tone thoughtful. "Thinking about it, why don’t we start calling Dave ’One Hit’? The name seems to suit him perfectly."
A few chuckles rippled through the crowd at the suggestion. It was a fitting moniker, after all. Dave had earned that reputation, and his fighting style seemed to make it impossible for anyone to last long against him.
"Yeah, with his style of fighting, that name seems to be the best one for him," a woman in the crowd added, nodding her head as if agreeing with the idea. The whispers of "One Hit Dave" grew more prominent, circulating through the crowd like an unspoken agreement.
But as the murmurs continued, the real question on everyone’s mind remained the same. Why had Ajax, of all people, asked for the fight to be stopped?
Everyone knew Ajax had been the first to fall to Dave’s infamous strike, but now, standing in front of them, it wasn’t just about his past defeat, it was about his unexpected interference in a fight that many thought was already a foregone conclusion. Why would someone who had been humiliated by Dave’s overwhelming strength want to stop someone else from going through the same ordeal?
Though, many weren’t aware of his relationship with Tasha or the fact that the two of them were family. So his interference was odd and concerning to them.
But for those who knew they were family, they couldn’t help but wonder if Ajax was trying to protect his family, or not. As he doesn’t seem to interact so much with Tasha. Heck, before anyone knew they were family, it took a very long time.
Which only further raised more questions than answers. Was he concerned for Tasha, his aunt? Or was there something deeper at play?
The arena fell into a brief, tense silence as all eyes remained on Ajax. The crowd couldn’t help but feel the weight of the moment. Everyone was watching to see what would happen next.
