Chapter 65: CH 065: Beast Necromancy Ability! (MR 7)
Dave’s eyes scanned the latest system message.
[Quest Completed]
The screen blinked back at him, followed by a notification of a new ability gained. He frowned, confusion knitting his brow. "But I didn’t—" freēnovelkiss.com
He stood abruptly, the chair scraping loudly against the floor, and made his way down the stairs. The usual cacophony of growls and snarls was absent. Instead, an eerie silence hung in the air. As he approached the hallway leading to the back door, he saw the boulderback beasts, their massive forms lumbering away into the distance, retreating like a tide pulling back from the shore.
But it was the sight before him that made his mouth widen out in surprise. The ground was littered with the bodies of the fallen beasts, their once-menacing eyes now dull and lifeless.
The air was thick with the metallic scent of blood, mingling with the acrid tang of something darker. And standing amidst the carnage were his hybrids, their bodies slick with the black ichor of the beasts they’d slain. Their hands, once pristine, were now stained up to the elbows, and their clothes clung to them, heavy and soaked.
For a fleeting moment, Dave’s mind went blank. He had forgotten that he even had some hybrids under his control. The chair White had been strapped to lay in ruins, its frame shattered, a testament to the chaos that had unfolded.
His gaze then shifted to the hybrids. Their eyes met his, unblinking, as if awaiting further instruction. The realization hit him like a punch to the gut. These were no mere experiments. They were warriors, bred for one purpose: to dominate.
Dave’s thoughts raced. The beasts must have tried attacking the hybrids after they were done dealing with White. But he also guessed that after he ended the system’s punishment, they must have been retreating, not engaging in a fight with the hybrids again.
Yet he couldn’t help but wonder how the hybrids had been able to deal swiftly with 200 beasts in just a few minutes, but then he remembered their previous attack against white’s hybrids, at that time, their movements had appeared almost as a blur.
So he imagined they had dealt with the boulderback beasts the same way. They had torn through the beasts with a ferocity that left no room for mercy. The beasts clearly stood no chance.
Taking a step forward, his boots crunched over the remains of the fallen beasts. At that moment, he could see the beasts that had been retreating suddenly vanishing into the thin air, leaving behind only the dead bodies of those that had fallen.
Within seconds, the area was clear, as if they were never there. The silence was oppressive, punctuated only by the heavy stillness of the dead beasts. Dave’s gaze swept over the carnage, his mind processing the implications.
Right then, a system message had flashed before his eyes.
[For killing 200 beasts, you have unlocked a new ability!]
Dave’s curiosity was piqued. He noticed that whenever a creature, beast or hybrid, was tamed by him, any kills they made were registered as his own. It was a peculiar fashion, but one that had already proven useful to aid him greatly in his conquest.
The message continued;
[New Ability: Beast Necromancy]
Dave’s eyes widened as he read the description.
[With this ability, you will be able to manipulate the spirits of dead beasts, revitalizing them from death and ordering them to do your wishes. There is no limit to how many beasts you can raise from the dead, as long as they are within 2km from the user. No energy point is required to utilize this skill, but it can only be used once in a day].
Dave’s mind reeled as he processed the information. Beast Necromancy? It sounded like something out of a fantasy novel. It was almost similar to the necromancy movies he sees on TV, he couldn’t believe that he had actually unlocked such an ability. At least, one similar to it. The only difference being the beast.
"Beast Necromancy, this is wild man," he muttered to himself.
Without hesitation, Dave decided to test out the ability. The day was almost over, and he had the hybrids to back him up if things went awry. He selected the ability on the system tab, and a surge of energy coursed through his body.
[You have selected the Beast Necromancy Ability]
At that moment, he felt himself subconsciously raising his hands, and a faint, pulsating glow emanated from his fingertips. The energy enveloped the dead bodies of the boulderback beasts, and slowly, their eyes flickered open. The beasts’ gaze was empty, yet menacing, as they rose to their feet. Their movements were stiff and jerky, but they responded to Dave’s control.
The undead beasts let out a deep growl, their voices echoing through the hallway.
"That seems more like it," Dave said, a smile spreading across his face. "Ah ah, this is incredible!" He watched, mesmerized, as the beasts obeyed his every command.
After cancelling the ability, Dave turned his attention to another skill he had obtained: Void Space.
His eyes locked onto the system tab, his fingers hovering over the interface as he selected the Void Space ability. A brief description flashed on the screen:
[In this void space, you can add anything or anyone inside it, and also take it or them out at will. It doesn’t use any energy points and it doesn’t have a limit to what it can occupy, hence the name void space]
The words seemed almost too good to be true.
With a deep breath, Dave focused his mind, picturing the backpack on his back. He activated the Void Space, and a strange sensation washed over him, like a whispered promise. The backpack suddenly vanished, leaving him feeling lighter, freer. "Wow," Dave breathed, his eyes widening in amazement.
He concentrated again, picturing the backpack reappearing on his back. Instantly, it materialized, the straps settling into place with a soft thud. A smile spread across Dave’s face as he repeated the process, the hybrids disappearing and reappearing with equal ease.
The two hybrids stood before him once more, their eyes fixed on Dave with an unwavering intensity. He couldn’t help but laugh, the excitement bubbling up from within him. These abilities were going to change everything.
As he stood there, basking in the thrill of discovery, Dave’s thoughts turned to the others. It was time to leave the lab and meet them, they must have been awaiting his arrival since. But first, he had one final task to complete.
Dave’s gaze drifted toward the surveillance room, his mind drawn to the information that might be hidden within. He had caught glimpses of reports and broadcasts, hints of a world torn apart by chaos and destruction. The emergence of superpowers had changed everything, and Dave was eager to learn more.
With a sense of purpose, Dave made his way to the surveillance room, the silence of the lab giving way to the hum of machinery and the soft glow of screens. This was his last stop before joining the others, and he was determined to uncover as much as he could about the world.
