Standing Next To You-Chapter 362: I’ll take care of you
Chapter 362: I’ll take care of you
Bei Sangyun stared at him unblinkingly, trying to carve this image into her mind. Fei Chuan looked so adorable right now that she wanted to poke those red cheeks.
But since he was sick, she couldn’t be naughty.
She lifted the tray. "I came because my boyfriend is sick. Anyway, I haven’t eaten yet. Let’s eat together."
Fei Chuan stood frozen. Maid Yan seized the opportunity and gently pushed the door wider, allowing Bei Sangyun to enter smoothly.
Bei Sangyun unceremoniously stepped into his bedroom, found a table, and set the tray down. She placed the two bowls next to each other and began ladling soup into each one.
Fei Chuan still stood by the door, struggling to believe that Bei Sangyun had appeared in his bedroom.
"I heard you haven’t eaten yet. Let’s eat together. Sit down," Bei Sangyun said.
Fei Chuan turned to find Maid Yan already gone. He hesitated, his hand still on the doorknob.
Once he closed the door, it would be just him and Bei Sangyun... alone in his bedroom.
Fei Chuan gulped nervously.
In the end, he did not close the door completely, leaving it slightly ajar.
He sat down across from Bei Sangyun. "...Did Grandma put you up to this?"
"I am the one who begged Grandma Pei to let me visit you. My boyfriend is sick; how can I sit still? I have to take care of you." Bei Sangyun handed him the bowl with steaming soup. "Careful, it’s hot."
Fei Chuan picked up the spoon and was about to take a sip from Bei Sangyun’s bowl when he paused. He withdrew his hand and placed the untouched bowl next to Bei Sangyun.
"Wait here..." He stood up and was about to leave, but Bei Sangyun stopped him.
"Where are you going?"
"...To the kitchen."
Bei Sangyun stood up as well. "Is there anything you need? I’ll get it for you."
"No need to go down. What do you want to eat?"
"...Uhm, the soup is fine with me," Bei Sangyun answered, confused.
Fei Chuan glanced at the soup and nodded. He began walking towards the door.
"Hey, where are you going?" Bei Sangyun followed after him.
"I’ll cook the soup. We have the ingredients, so it will only take a short while."
Bei Sangyun was stunned. Did he not want this kind of soup? But Grandma Pei had said this was the nutritional soup he usually took when he was sick...
Realization suddenly hit Bei Sangyun. Could it be that he was going to cook for her?
"Are you going to cook for me?" she asked.
Bei Sangyun reached out to hold his arm to stop him. When their skin touched, she was startled by the high temperature of his skin. She quickly let go of his arm and touched his forehead. The burning heat under her palm made her eyes widen.
"...Your fever is so high!"
Ever since Fei Chuan had opened the door, aside from his reddish face and pale lips, he hadn’t acted like he was sick, which had made Bei Sangyun think he was getting better.
But in reality, he was burning with fever. How could he still be standing and moving? Most people would not be able to get out of bed and would be groaning in discomfort right now.
Bei Sangyun pulled Fei Chuan to the bed.
"You are not allowed to go anywhere." She propped pillows behind his back. "I’ll feed you."
She took the bowl and sat on the bed beside him. She took a spoon, scooped some soup, blew on it, and held it just before his mouth. "Ah~" She gestured for him to open his mouth.
Fei Chuan did not open his mouth wide like she wanted. He asked weakly, "You said you were hungry."
"Not anymore."
Fei Chuan raised an eyebrow. He knew that Bei Sangyun couldn’t eat well when he wasn’t around to taste it.
Bei Sangyun sighed. This man was really a handful. She had no choice but to tell the truth.
"To be honest, I’ve been able to eat well again ever since we started dating. I’ve been enjoying my meals since then. Before I left, I even managed to eat a whole bowl of rice."
Bei Sangyun hadn’t intended to mention this, as she cherished their mealtime routine. It was one of the moments Fei Chuan spoiled her, and she didn’t want that to change.
Hearing her answer, Fei Chuan finally seemed convinced. Bei Sangyun shook the spoon in front of him, urging him to open his mouth.
Fei Chuan blushed as he obediently opened his mouth. Fortunately, his face was already red from the burning fever.
When he finished the entire bowl of soup, Bei Sangyun praised him, "Good boy."
Fei Chuan’s ears turned even redder. "...I am not a boy."
"Right. My baby really eats well despite being sick. He is such a good baby."
Fei Chuan’s face turned aghast. "...Please don’t call me that."
"Alright, honey sweetie pie." Bei Sangyun teased as she handed him the medicine.
Fei Chuan: "...."
He speechlessly accepted the medicine and drank. After he finished drinking, he uttered, "...Just call me ’boyfriend’ instead."
Bei Sangyun grinned. "Alright. Boyfriend. Rest well, I’ll take care of you."
Perhaps the medicine worked well, as Fei Chuan was able to sleep after a while.
Bei Sangyun checked his temperature. Seeing it still dangerously high, her heart palpitated with worry.
She asked Maid Yan to bring her a towel and water. Back when she lived in the village, she remembered getting sick once and Grandma Bei taking care of her. Grandma draped her with a wet towel all night until her fever subsided, then covered her with a thick blanket until she sweated out the fever.
Bei Sangyun squeezed the soaked towel and wiped Fei Chuan’s feverish face. She then wiped his neck and arms before drying him off with a dry towel. She repeated this several times until Fei Chuan’s pajama collar became damp.
Bei Sangyun hesitated. She wanted to change his clothes and wipe his underarms, which were surely burning with fever too.
Just as she was about to proceed, Fei Chuan suddenly opened his eyes.
Bei Sangyun was in the process of unbuttoning his shirt when she met his unfocused eyes.
"...Why are you undressing me?" His voice was rough and hoarse, his hot breath hitting her cheeks, causing her heart to flutter.
Suddenly, Bei Sangyun had a déjà vu. She backed away quickly. Her intentions had been pure, and her mind clear, before she began unbuttoning his pajamas. But after meeting his dazed eyes, she noticed his white, sexy collarbone under the shirt and his seductive appearance. Coupled with his hoarse voice, it ignited her imagination.
Bei Sangyun stood up, masking her fast-beating heart with a stoic face. "...I got your shirt wet."
Fei Chuan’s head felt heavy, but he also noticed the uncomfortable wetness around his collar. He slowly sat up, leaning on the pillow. "It’s okay. It’s bearable."
"No, you should change your clothes." Bei Sangyun handed him the pajamas she retrieved from his closet. "While you’re at it, wipe your underarms with the soaked towel. I’ll be back in a few minutes."
With that, she hurriedly left, as though she were being chased.
