Chapter 394: In His Future, With Her

Knock. Knock.

The sudden knock on the door snapped Bei Sangyun out of her thoughts.

The door opened, and Fei Chuan’s head popped in. He cautiously peeked into the room.

"Still busy?"

Bei Sangyun immediately stood up and sprinted towards Fei Chuan. "I’m not, my meetings ended a while ago. How are you? Is it alright for you to walk around now?"

She tiptoed and put her hand on his forehead, checking his temperature. His fever had subsided last evening, but the doctor said he still needed to rest today. Fortunately, his temperature was normal.

"Have you eaten? Have you taken your medicine?"

Fei Chuan chuckled at Bei Sangyun’s barrage of questions. "I’m fine. The doctor said taking walks would be good for me. I haven’t eaten yet; I was waiting for you." He answered all her questions with patience.

Seeing the bright look on his face, though slightly pale, Bei Sangyun felt a wave of relief.

"Then let’s eat. After you take your medicine, we can go for a walk. You haven’t had a chance to visit the garden yet, have you?"

"Not yet." Fei Chuan took her hand and held it gently. "I’d like that."

Bei Sangyun glanced at their intertwined hands. Fei Chuan had smoothly taken her hand as if it was natural for him to do so. The hesitation and cautiousness he usually displayed seemed to have disappeared.

Could this mean he was beginning to open up to her?

Bei Sangyun’s heart warmed at the thought. It was rare for Fei Chuan to initiate such intimate contact, and she was momentarily caught off guard. She smiled sweetly at him. "Then let’s enjoy a hearty meal today."

However, a moment later, as she glanced at the plain porridge in front of Fei Chuan and then at the sumptuous meal on her own plate, Bei Sangyun’s heart ached for him.

She looked at him pitifully. "I forgot... you can only eat soft food today."

There was no hint of complaint on Fei Chuan’s face. "You haven’t tasted Grandma Pei’s porridge yet, have you? Aside from pastries, she makes the best porridge in the world."

Grandma Pei put their drinks on the table and joined their conversation, "He’s right, dear. He got sick a lot when he was young and had to eat porridge and soup all the time. So, I worked hard to perfect my recipe and make the most delicious porridge out there."

Bei Sangyun did not know this part of Fei Chuan’s childhood. She listened with great enthusiasm as Grandma Pei reminisced about Fei Chuan’s early years.

"He was really a picky eater. He only ate the porridge and soup I made."

"Because yours is the best," Fei Chuan said, then took a sip of the porridge.

Bei Sangyun whispered to Grandma Pei, "Grandma, when you have time later, can you teach me how to cook?" She wanted to learn how to make the porridge that Fei Chuan liked.

Grandma Pei looked at her with bright eyes. "Of course. I will teach you everything."

Grandma Pei was getting old, and although she was healthy now, a time would come when she could no longer cook for the Young Master. She wished to pass on every recipe she knew to Bei Sangyun.

In the future, even when she was gone, the Young Master would still be able to eat the things he liked.

Grandma Pei appreciated Bei Sangyun’s intention and decided to write down all the recipes she knew that night. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

After the hearty meal, the two took a walk in the garden.

The manor Bei Sangyun chose featured a large garden, even larger than the house itself.

In fact, every property she owned had a similarly expansive garden. She had promised Grandma Bei that she would give her a house with a big yard, so it was only natural that she selected homes with spacious gardens where Grandma Bei could indulge in her passion for planting.

Whether it was a vegetable garden or a flowerbed, there was always space for her to cultivate.

Since this garden was designed with Grandma Bei’s preferences in mind, she hadn’t instructed the gardener to plant anything else.

Thus, the garden only contained the tulips that naturally grew there.

However, now that she had brought Fei Chuan here, she wanted to fill the garden with a variety of flowers. She remembered how much Fei Chuan liked flowers.

This would be Fei Chuan and Grandma Bei’s temporary home, so she wanted to make it homely and beautiful for them.

"In the future, we can plant many flowers here," Bei Sangyun commented as they admired the tulips in the garden.

"And we can also add a man-made lake here. How about we plant a tree there?" Bei Sangyun suggested, trying to recreate the landscape where Fei Chuan had taken her last time. Fei Chuan seemed to really like that place.

Fei Chuan glanced in the direction she was pointing, picturing the scene Bei Sangyun described. He smiled. "That sounds wonderful. We should plant several trees here so that when we take walks in the future, we can rest under their shade in the summer. We can watch the flower petals and leaves scatter in the fall, and enjoy the sight of bare branches in winter."

Bei Sangyun imagined it and her smile grew warmer. Did this mean Fei Chuan was envisioning her in his future?

The one-month date arrangement was now forgotten. Bei Sangyun grinned at the thought of spending the upcoming days with Fei Chuan without thinking of any time limit.

The two walked slowly, appreciating the future they were planning together.

"Ah, right. I asked Zhong Cheng to file a one-week break for us from school," Bei Sangyun suddenly brought up a new topic. "There aren’t many classes nowadays, and the teachers have allowed us time for self-study and review."

With the final exams and college entrance tests approaching, the school granted students time to prepare. During this period, most students either attended review classes or used the time to study independently. Therefore, requesting a break from school was quite common, as many students seeking to prepare for the exams had done the same.

Fei Chuan nodded. "Then, we should start studying as well."

Bei Sangyun paused, suddenly having a bad feeling.
