Chapter 3578: Lu Yin And Jiu Xian

Emperor Wu’s expression grew even worse. He knew exactly how powerful Emperor Slayer was. Despite having fought against so many formidable opponents, Seraph Lu was still undefeated, and after all of that, he had even gone to the Roaming South Realm and dealt with Yi Nan... Was it possible that the man was truly as strong as the High Seraph?

During the Everstone Discourse, the High Seraph had taken action, but the people of the Spirit Nidus knew nothing more about what had happened. That battle had only been heard, not seen. Old Yu had deliberately hidden the conflict from all eyes.

The people of Spirit Nidus did not know that Lu Yin and an ally had fought against the High Seraph. Even so, based on Lu Yin’s repeated victories, people were certain that, unless the High Seraph personally intervened, no one else could deal with Lu Yin.

"Alright, have fun. This Grandverse Manor sounds quite interesting." Jiu Xian chuckled as she prepared to leave. She had no intention of visiting the Ascendant Hall. Seraphs could not be subjected to unnecessary rules.

The golden-winged creature looked over at Jiu Xian. "Seraph Jiu Xian, you're leaving? What about Qing Yun?"

Jiu Xian turned to stare at the beast, her expression as calm as still water. "What does that mean?"

The golden-winged creature continued, "Qing Yun and Qing Xiao have both been captured by Seraph Lu, and Qing Yun is currently serving as one of his maids. At the moment, he has four maids waiting on him: Palace Master Yao, Cai Keqing, Qing Yun, and Ru Mu."

Emperor Wu sneered as he looked over at Jiu Xian. "It’s your turn, now."

Everyone knew how highly Jiu Xian valued Qing Yun and Qing Xiao. There was no way she would stay out of the matter.

"Also, during the battle at the Umbral Deep, Nian Xian was captured, though his fate remains unknown. He stood up to the Third Boss in order to rescue the two siblings, but he stood no chance at all against Lu Yin." The golden-winged creature continued to pour fuel on the fire.

Jiu Xian’s eyes briefly flickered, but after that, she simply gave an indifferent smile. "Everyone has their own fate. If they were captured, then so be it. What does their situation have to do with me?"

She then stepped forward, leaving the battleship and making her way towards the Roaming South Realm.

As the golden-winged creature watched the Seraph leave, he whispered, "Primal Beastland Lord, she...?"

Emperor Wu snorted contemptuously. "She won’t abandon those two siblings. She just wants me to move against the Grandverse Manor first. How ridiculous."

"What about us?" the golden-winged creature pressed.

Emperor Wu glanced at the beast, and then his gaze swept over all the creatures who had gathered from the Primal Beastland. "We’ll return first. We’ll deal with this later."

He was no fool, and there was no reason for him to act hastily. The High Seraph was the one who represented the dignity of the Spirit Nidus, not the Primal Beastland.

The Primal Beastland had indeed suffered significant losses, which had caused many to believe that Emperor Wu would instantly fly into a rage and attack the Grandverse Manor. He was happy to disappoint them. He would certainly take action, but not yet.

However, the news that arrived the very next moment did send Emperor Wu flying into a rage.

A challenge letter had already been sent from the Primal Beastland to the Grandverse Manor: Emperor Wu was challenging Seraph Lu.

The moment he heard this news, Emperor Wu understood that he had found Emperor Slayer’s "gift." That bastard had thrown Emperor Wu straight into the fire.

Excitement erupted throughout the Spirit Nidus. Emperor Wu had only just returned, and yet he was already challenging Seraph Lu! This would not be an ordinary challenge, but rather a contest that would determine who retained the title of Seraph. One of the two would inevitably lose their title. With the Day of Offering approaching so quickly, why had Emperor Wu not waited until after that to challenge Seraph Lu?

The Day of Offering was incredibly important to the entire Spirit Nidus. It was the day when the High Seraph would lead the Seven Seraphs to perform sacred rituals, and there was a chance for them to witness a mystical phenomenon. What this phenomenon was, no one knew, but every High Seraph throughout history had seen that phenomenon, but not one had ever recorded the matter.

For Emperor Wu to challenge Seraph Lu at such a moment, the lord of the Primal Beastland had to be completely certain of victory. There was no chance he would take such a risk without absolute confidence.

This was what all the cultivators in the megaverse believed.

Emperor Wu himself was so enraged that he nearly spat out blood.

He was nowhere near as confident as what people believed. No matter how confident he was in his own defensive capabilities, Lu Yin’s terrifying victory against all his attackers at the Umbral Deep and his subsequent victory in the Roaming South Realm were enough for Emperor Wu to question his chances.

Lu Yin had remained victorious despite numerous difficult battles, and on top of that, no one so far had been able to push him to reveal his full strength. Emperor Wu himself had once faced three Seraphs without losing, but he also had not won.

What Lu Yin had accomplished was at least equal to Emperor Wu’s record of fighting against three Seraphs. Without using a sequence base, Emperor Wu had no assurances of his own victory. However, sequence bases were still external tools, and as such, should not be used against Seraph Lu.

The golden-winged creature, Little Threeheaded Fiend, and many other creatures from the Primal Beastland wanted Emperor Wu to fight against Seraph Lu. In fact, the entire Primal Beastland had been waiting for Emperor Wu’s return, hoping that he would restore their honor. However, there were also a few who were more rational. They had a clearer understanding of just how terrifyingly powerful the Grandverse Manor was, and thus they remained silent.

Ultimately, whether or not the challenge would be fought depended on Emperor Wu himself.

The challenge letter that Emperor Slayer had sent served as nothing more than a catalyst that brought the conflict right to the forefront.

Far away, Jiu Xian also heard news of the challenge letter. She was momentarily stunned. Emperor Slayer was quite cunning. Still, the matter had nothing to do with her.

As for Qing Yun and Qing Xiao, there was no need to rush. It was important that she first learn about the Grandverse Manor and this Seraph Lu.

Soon, Jiu Xian arrived in the Roaming South Realm. She merely glanced at her ruined valley before calmly descending.

The Primal Beastland had already spread word that Jiu Xian’s valley had been destroyed. It was widely known that the Phantom Reach had been nearly erased from the Roaming South Realm, and no one knew what had become of Yi Nan. Both Jiu Xian and the Phantom Reach had suffered greatly.

Jiu Xian stood amidst the ruins of her valley. She bent over and picked up a picture that she stared at intently. Where are you?

Right at that moment, the void twisted, and someone emerged.

Jiu Xian looked over, briefly puzzled. However, as soon as she connected the dots, her eyes focused sharply. "Seraph Lu?"

Lu Yin had indeed arrived. When he had heard that the battleship had returned from the Consciousness Megaverse, he had headed straight for the Roaming South Realm. He had been waiting for this day for a long time. "Jiu Xian, you’ve finally returned."

Jiu Xian stared at Lu Yin, a faint smile on her face. Her cheeks were slightly flushed, which gave her the appearance of being mildly intoxicated. "Seraph Lu, shouldn’t you be preparing for your fight with Emperor Wu? Why are you here instead? Are you planning to return those two children to me?"

Lu Yin clasped his hands behind his back as he observed Jiu Xian.

The woman was as he had imagined—beautiful, with an ethereal presence. Qing Xiao had once mentioned that Jiu Xian loved drinking so much that she should be called the 'Wine Immortal' instead.[1] She was in a perpetual state of near-drunkenness and was also known for her mischievous nature.

She was the one who had come up with the term “Ascendant Hall’s Absolute Duo.”

Palace Master Yao greatly disliked the Seraph, but there was nothing that she could do. Jiu Xian was simply way too strong for Palace Master Yao.

"If you want the siblings, you can have them," Lu Yin replied indifferently.

Jiu Xian dropped the picture and let it drift to the ground. "Then you have my thanks, Seraph Lu. However, that’s not everything, is it? Let me guess."

She paused for effect and sipped wine from her gourd before setting it aside. She then flashed Lu Yin a bright smile. "You want to ask me to join you against the High Seraph?"

Lu Yin arched a brow. "Judging by your tone, it sounds like you might not refuse."

Jiu Xian laughed loudly. "Why should I refuse? I don't like the High Seraph either. Still, I must apologize, and I have to say no."

"Why?"

"You can’t beat him."

"You’re that certain?"

Jiu Xian let out a long sigh. "The High Seraph may not be an Immortal, an untouchable monster, but reaching the peak of Dukkha is already terrifyingly powerful. You, me, and even the other Seraphs together still wouldn’t be his match."

She sipped her wine again and then let out a burp. "Still, if we’re prepared to truly die in the fight, sacrificing several of us might be enough to create a chance. However, I am not prepared to summon such resolve."

Lu Yin shook his head. "I didn’t come here to speak to you about that at this time."

Jiu Xian was curious. "Then what other matter could there be? The Phantom Reach? We were never anything more than neighbors."

Lu Yin’s expression grew solemn as he pointed to the picture that was still beside Jiu Xian’s feet.

She looked down and frowned when her eyes fell upon the picture. As she stared at the ground, shock flickered in her eyes as her mind raced to make sense of the situation. By the time she lifted her head, her expression had already returned to normal. "What?"

Lu Yin spoke indifferently. "That picture."

Jiu Xian feigned confusion. "The picture? What about it?"

She sipped more wine, and her body swayed slightly.

"That person’s name is Feng Bo."

Jiu Xian simply continued drinking, the gourd hiding her face as it rose. All that could be made out was her throat moving as she swallowed.

Lu Yin continued, "I recognized Feng Bo, and that doesn’t surprise you because you already suspected that he might have gone to the Tianyuan Megaverse. In fact, you’ve already decided to go there yourself, haven’t you?

"However, I can tell you this much: he is no longer in the Tianyuan Megaverse, and I am the only one who might be able to find where he is."

Feng Bo was already dead. Lu Yin had chased after the Ossis Ark and crushed Feng Bo’s immortal seed. As far as Lu Yin knew, Feng Bo could never reappear.

In retrospect, he felt a tinge of regret. Before his immortal seed was crushed, Feng Bo had clearly wanted to say something. Unfortunately, he had never been given a chance to speak.

At the time, Lu Yin had been in such a hurry to go after Yong Heng that he had ended up overlooking Feng Bo, which was a true pity.

Jiu Xian continued to drink her wine for several long moments. Abruptly, the gourd was set down, and the woman cleaned her mouth with her sleeve in an uncultured movement. “He’s now in Spirit Nidus.”

Lu Yin smiled. “Just because he isn’t in the Tianyuan Megaverse doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s in the Spirit Nidus.”

Jiu Xian stared at Lu Yin. Her eyes were somewhat hazy, and yet there was a clarity that had been absent earlier. Hearing Feng Bo’s name had made it impossible for her to drown her thoughts with alcohol. “The Consciousness Megaverse?”

“Which megaverse is Feng Bo from?” Lu Yin did not answer the question, instead asking his own.

Jiu Xian swayed slightly as she took a seat. She placed a foot squarely on top of Feng Bo’s portrait. “I don’t understand.”

Lu Yin slowly walked closer to Jiu Xian. “What’s your relationship with Feng Bo? Which megaverse is he from?”

Jiu Xian answered matter-of-factly, “He’s from the Spirit Nidus, of course. Why? Do you know of some other megaverse than the three?”

Lu Yin repeated, “What’s your relationship with him?”

“Enemies.”

“What kind of enmity?”

Jiu Xian sneered. “Seraph Lu, you’re quite amusing. Does my grudge with that man have anything to do with you at all? Just who is he to you? From the sounds of things, you particularly care about him, which suggests that you are also his enemy.”

“I don’t believe that he’s from the Spirit Nidus,” Lu Yin stated bluntly.

Jiu Xian’s eyebrows leaped upwards. “Then where? The Consciousness Megaverse?”

Lu Yin narrowed his eyes. “The Nine Odysseys and the Greater Sancti.”

Jiu Xian’s expression remained calm, and the only change was a hint of confusion. “Who’s that? Gods from your Tianyuan Megaverse?”

“You don’t want to find him?” Lu Yin challenged.

Jiu Xian scoffed. “The day will come when I find him.”

“What if he’s already dead?” Lu Yin countered.

A cold light flickered in Jiu Xian’s eyes, but they quickly returned to normal. She then casually drank some more wine. “Then I guess he got lucky.”

Lu Yin was suddenly right in front of Jiu Xian, attacking her with a palm strike without any warning.

The woman casually flung her wine gourd.

Bang!

The gourd shattered, and Jiu Xian staggered backward, one step after another. In front of her, Lu Yin’s palm shot through the void, moving closer and closer. As the attack drew close, Jiu Xian spread out her arms before abruptly clapping her hands together with a crisp crack. As her arms spread out, a faint white portal appeared around her body. The portal had dark-gold patterns etched across it that could only vaguely be made out. It looked both noble and ethereal, as though it did not belong to the current universe.

The moment her palms joined, the portal closed, and the space in front of her was sealed.

Lu Yin’s palm struck the portal with a thunderous crash that shook the entire Roaming South Realm. A massive fissure spread across the ground, splitting the land in half.

1. Jiu Xian (九仙) literally means "Ninth Immortal," but her name is a homophone for "Wine Immortal" (酒仙), reflecting her love for drinking. ☜
