Strongest Demigod System-Chapter 106: On The Move
Maddison stood regal and beautiful, clad in black like a dark goddess from a time long lost.
The sort of woman whom wars were fought over in days of old.
A woman who could lead you to your doom, but one that you would gladly follow for the sake of glancing upon her beauty for a moment longer.
"Follow my steps. Left forward, then right backward, then left forward again."
Maddison spoke in a small whisper as she started to lead Azrael in the dance, and Azrael followed along with Maddison's words.
Azrael had never danced in his life; even common dance moves that most children learned by playing around with their friends were lost on him.
But Azrael had been training to master his body all his life.
The common mistakes that most people would make when dancing for the first time were things that he couldn't make because he understood exactly what his limits were and how to control his body.
As Azrael took small steps along with Maddison, he felt the moves coming to him more easily, and his feet landed more confidently, right in front of Maddison's.
Maddison's hand in his own and her voice kept him grounded, and as Maddison began to slowly sway around, he followed her lead and swayed along with her.
The two creatures in black moved to the rhythm of the music, their gazes locked on each other and their steps measured and even.
All around them, other demigods danced along to the sound of music, but they didn't pay any attention to them.
Maddison slowly felt Azrael taking control of the dance after he gained enough confidence, and she didn't try to hold onto the control.
Maddison gave everything to him and allowed him to lead her around the dance floor, swaying and bobbing along with the others.
The smile on Maddison's face slowly increased in intensity as she enjoyed the dance.
All her life, Maddison had only learned how to dance from tutors whom her parents paid to teach her. There had never been a time when she danced to her heart's content in the arms of another.
So, at this moment, Azrael was giving Maddison a memory that she had always yearned for.
He was granting her freedom once again.
Maddison looked up into Azrael's smiling eyes, and she felt her emotions overwhelm her.
The both of them had done things that no one would approve of. They had both stained their hands in sin and crime, and there was no redemption along the road they had chosen to walk.
And yet, as Maddison stared up into his eyes, she felt like there was no need for redemption.
So long as she was with Azrael and they were doing this together, she would never need to apologize for the things she had done.
Because the only person in the world who truly mattered to her,
The only person who understood her…
Was holding her in his hands.
So let the world burn.
They would dance in the flames.
Maddison slowed her swaying and movement as she looked up at Azrael with more emotion than ever before, and Azrael stopped moving as he felt Maddison's hand slide up from his shoulder towards his neck and then up to caress his cheek.
Maddison rose up to her toes while guiding Azrael's head down.
There was some uncertainty in Maddison's eyes, like she was terrified of his rejection.
But when Azrael allowed her to bring his head down, she gained back her confidence as her eyes fluttered closed.
Maddison tilted her head to the side, and Azrael gently put his hand around her waist to hold her up as their lips drew closer for a kiss.
But before they could meet in the middle, Azrael's eyes caught movement in front of him.
Harold was on the move.
"Maddison. It's time."
Azrael whispered to Maddison quickly, and Maddison felt herself snap back into reality once she heard his voice.
The blush on Maddison's face increased in intensity, and she immediately took a step away from Azrael to try and hide her embarrassment.
Maddison turned to see that Harold was moving away from the dance floor towards the bar on the other end of the room, and she told Azrael that she was ready.
Maddison was obviously not happy that their moment was cut short, but she could tell that this mission was more important to Azrael.
Azrael spoke up:
"How are you going to make him leave?"
Maddison told him, and Azrael blinked in surprise before asking,
"Are you sure you can do this?"
Azrael looked down at Maddison curiously, and Maddison nodded seriously.
"I won't disappoint you, I promise."
Azrael stared into Maddison's eyes for a few seconds before he finally relented and started to head out of the dance floor.
Maddison took in a deep breath to calm herself.
She arranged her hair back into place and reached out to take a single drink from one of the waiters as they passed her before she headed straight for Harold.
…
Azrael passed through the large double doors that led to the inner parts of the mansion.
There were no other guests around the hallway, and as Azrael passed one of the waiters, he asked him for directions to the nearest bathroom.
The waiter directed Azrael down to a set of doors on the right, and Azrael thanked him and started to head for it.
Azrael entered the bathroom and saw that it was large, with multiple stalls, and he figured that this was the general toilet used by the mansion staff.
Azrael checked all of the stalls to make sure that there was no one inside, and then he entered one of the stalls and changed his clothes.
The suit that Cleopatra got for Azrael had been weaved from Divine Essence. After checking yesterday, Azrael confirmed that he could put the suit into his [Divine Storage] since it had been crafted from Essence so the shirt and suit jacket went into the storage, and Azrael took off his shoes and left them in the stall.
He put on the Black Mask to hide his features, closed his eyes, and allowed his senses to spread across the surroundings while listening for a commotion.

Maddison promised that she was going to make Harold leave, and when Azrael heard what she was going to do, he was immediately worried that she wouldn't have the courage to go through with it.
After all, staining someone's suit was definitely going to draw a lot of unwanted attention her way.
But since Maddison promised she could do it, Azrael was going to believe in her.
Something like that would definitely cause a reaction from the other demigods, and Azrael was waiting for that reaction.
No less than a minute later, there was a loud gasp from all of the demigods in the hall, and someone cursed loudly.
Azrael smiled behind his mask and continued listening as footsteps rang through the hall.
Azrael thought that Harold would enter the bathroom to clean himself up, but the footsteps went past the bathroom door and deeper into the mansion and Azrael figured that Harold was heading for his inner chambers.
Azrael walked forward while pulling the [Oathkeeper] blade from a ripple that opened beside him.
He opened the bathroom door to see that it was empty, and after listening for the sound of footsteps, Azrael eased his way out of the bathroom and began heading deeper into the mansion.
The hallway was only dimly lit, giving it a shadowy aesthetic that would make most people stumble if they didn't know their way around, but Azrael's right eye bled to red as the [Eye of Nyx] activated, and the shadowy hall brightened in his view.
It was like seeing the world in monochromatic black and white, and although it was bright, Azrael could still tell where the shadows were, so he would be able to move across the ground without exposing himself.
There were expensive paintings and mortal artifacts like jugs and jars lining the sides of the hallway, and Azrael made sure he stayed close to the wall in case any servant passed through.
Azrael's feet padded across the tiled floor soundlessly, and he suddenly stopped when he heard a voice echoing from up ahead.
"That foolish girl couldn't even hold her drink properly! What the fuck is wrong with children these days?! They don't even know how to behave at a function!"
The voice belonged to Harold, and Azrael realized that it was coming from a room further down the hallway to his left.
Azrael turned the corner and started to head towards the hall, but he immediately stopped again when he saw two tall, muscular figures standing in the hallway.
They were wearing suits, and they had an air of danger around them. Azrael immediately knew that they were bodyguards!
One of the men turned to the left once Azrael's figure came into view, and Azrael locked in once the man's eyes met his own.
"Black Mask!?"
The man muttered in shock, and his partner turned around quickly.
Azrael shot forward!
