Nathan's body fell to the ground lifeless. Nathan felt like he lost control over his body. No matter what he tried to do, even a single finger refused to move. It was as if he was stuck inside a corpse.

He could feel the sadness, anger, despair, exhaustion, and fear. It plunged directly into his heart, clouding his mind.

However, it all stopped when the last sentence was spoken.

"Thank you… Teacher, for granting my wish. Sorry, I can't fight until the end."

That last voice was filled with relief. How could one feel such a thing? What did one experience to make his sadness turn to joy after getting killed? What fueled his anger for it to disappear without a trace as though it was all over?

What caused his despair for it to vanish without overcoming it? How exhausted he was that death became his salvation? And… who inflicted that fear for it to feel as though it was a burden, not a challenge?

"Haaa!" Nathan gasped for air as he suddenly got the control of his body back.

"Nathan?!"

"Summoner!"

"Master!"

Vivian, Charlotte, and all the familiars hurriedly rushed to him. What exactly had just happened?

Nathan was supposed to be standing just fine. But the next thing they realized, Nathan had been on the ground in pain. Even when enduring excruciating pain, this was the first time Nathan showed tears filled with sadness instead of pain. His body was even trembling as though he was scared of something.

"What happened, Charlotte?!" Vivian screamed, glaring at Charlotte. She thought Charlotte's theory was wrong.

"I don't know…" Charlotte panicked. This was beyond her imagination. She was examining Nathan but couldn't find anything weird. "I don't know. I don't know. What is this? What is going on?"

"Let me treat him!" Mae rushed to Nathan and placed three of her fingers on Nathan's forehead. She closed her eyes for a moment as the energy started to leak out of her body, creating a translucent pink layer that gradually enveloped Nathan's body.

The moment she opened her eyes, her golden eyes turned pink. Nathan's body gradually calmed down.

"Master. Can you hear me?"

Nathan was panting heavily. His mind was still fuzzy, but thanks to Mae, he could regain his composure to a certain extent. "Thank you, Mae…"

"This is just a way to relieve whatever you're experiencing. I only make you, your body, and your mind treat it as if you are experiencing your daily life. If I retract this technique, you might experience it again…" frёewebnoѵēl.com

Nathan nodded.

"Nathan. What happened?" Vivian asked.

Anubis squinted his eyes before shaking his head. "There's nothing I can do. There's no damage in his body."

"I…" Nathan clenched his fists. "I experienced two dreams prior to this…"

Although only his familiars knew about this before, he thought what he experienced this time was related to it.

Hence, he had no choice but to explain it from the beginning.

Nathan recounted the two dreams before repeating the words that had just been spoken. Of course, he asked for Mae's help to let them see it or experience it themselves. In other words, they could feel the sadness or even despair he experienced, stunning them even more.

"Voice? Unknown voice? But it's yours…" Charlotte pinched her forehead, trying to come up with a possible reason. "Are you using your time element to travel back in time?"

Nathan shook his head. "If that's the conclusion, I should have at least a few familiars accompanying me, so that might not be me."

"That's indeed true." Charlotte frowned. "Still… those feelings and those words that could influence you… Is this really related to the time element? But acquiring an elemental source shouldn't cause this kind of problem. Is it because of the soul contract? Doesn't seem to be likely…"

While Charlotte was confused, Vivian was actually more shaken by the last sentence. Nathan could feel her body shaking as she was the one holding him. "Did I… kill my own student?"

That was right. The last sentence indicated that Vivian killed Nathan. After all, Nathan called that person 'Teacher.' There was only one person that fit such criteria.

Nathan gulped down. "You might not be the teacher in that voice. After all, it might not be me at all, even though it has the same voice as mine. My twins? Do I even have a twin brother or something?"

Vivian couldn't say anything. She treated Nathan well because she was a responsible teacher. In addition, the Bloody Banquet let her experience the pain of losing someone dear to her.

So, she couldn't imagine why she would kill her own student. But if this was truly her, she… didn't know how to face Nathan anymore.

"Master!" Nathan gritted his teeth and grabbed her arm. His expression was much firmer than before, even though he still looked exhausted.

"!!!"

"I know what kind of person you are. I won't even think of the possibility of me asking you to kill me after what you've experienced. Or do you want me to lie to you one more time?"

Vivian was shaken by the last question. Back then, she told him that she would sever their master-disciple relationship if she lied to her again, but this time, he was the one asking that question as if telling her that if it was too much of a burden for her, he would be the one to sever that relationship so that this possibility would never happen.

Although it wasn't enough to restore her mood, his statement calmed her down.

Nathan turned to Charlotte, who was desperately trying to figure out his condition, and put his hand on her head.

"Eh?" Charlotte came to a stop. When she turned her head to Nathan, a gentle smile greeted her.

"It's alright. No one is at fault here. It might just be an accident because of my bad luck. You don't have to worry much about it."

Charlotte gritted her teeth, feeling useless. She couldn't figure it out while Nathan was clearly just acting tough.

Nathan just shifted his gaze to his familiars. "Everything is fine. Mae, you can retract your power now. Also, don't tell the girls about this yet. I don't want them to get worried unnecessarily. It's better to figure out the truth first before revealing it."
