Supreme BeastTamer: I Can Copy and Upgrade Skills 10x!-Chapter 600: The Broken Claw Attack
Back at the cathedral ruins...
Raziel leaned against one of the shattered pillars, arms crossed and eyes half-closed. He was supposed to be the temporary leader while Drake and the others were gone—but leading wasn't exactly his thing.
"Hey, you sure they'll be fine?" Lumi asked as she sat on a chunk of stone, her legs swinging back and forth.
"They've got Drake, Valkor, Nyxirith, and Celestis. I think they'll manage," Raziel said lazily.
Zara didn't respond. She stood at the highest point of the broken platform, scanning the streets through a half-collapsed window. Her heart was beating constantly in a slow rhythm.
The Frost Princess could clearly sense something was amiss but couldn't quite wrap her head around it.
Elise was playing with her flames in the corner. She hadn't spoken much since the fight with Garren, but everyone could tell she was on edge.
From time to time, her expression would darken when she recalled the encounter with the leader of the Broken Claw.
"Don't beat yourself over it," said the girl who was from the Inferno Kingdom. "And I'm sure Prince Valkor won't let anything happen to you."
Elise didn't respond and only continued to play with her flames, imagining herself piercing Garren's heart with a flaming sword.
Zara, still scanning the streets, suddenly narrowed her eyes and spoke in a serious voice. "I feel like something's coming."
"You say that every hour," Raziel replied with a frown. "You're just nervous. But we'll be fine."
The others nodded as well—they understood the feeling.
"No," Zara said coldly, stepping down from the platform. "This time I'm sure of it."
Raziel pressed his forehead as if burdened by a headache and in a resigned voice, he said, "Princess..."
Suddenly—
BOOM!
The wall across the hall exploded into fragments. Smoke and dust flooded the space.
Everyone jumped to their feet.
"Shit!" Raziel hissed, electric sparks already running up his arm as he shouted in a booming voice, "Everyone stand on guard!"
From the smoke and debris, several figures emerged. Claws. Fangs. Pale, cracked skin. They looked like twisted Dragonkin—not fully corrupted, but no longer sane either.
And at the center—
A shadow stepped forward, clearing the smoke with a single wave of his hand.
"Found you," Garren Hale grinned, bare-chested and still as maddeningly confident as before.
Elise's face twisted in horror before turning into fury.
"Didn't I tell you we'd meet again, love?" Garren said, his voice taunting and twisted.
Zara raised a spear of ice, her expression morphing into disgust. "You bastard. You followed us."
"Actually," Garren said, "I just waited. And now that your stronger half is out of the way... well, this seemed like the perfect moment for a little reunion."
Raziel's hand sparked with lightning. "Lumi, protect the others!" he ordered.
The girl didn't hesitate. She backed away as a lightning bolt cracked down into Raziel's palm.
Meanwhile, she proceeded to summon her light construct—Big Sister—and erected a light barrier to protect the rest of the group.
"You seriously think we'll let you take anyone?" Raziel growled.
"No," Garren said with a smirk. "I think you'll try. And fail."
He waved his arm, and the corrupted warriors charged.
"Scatter!" Raziel yelled.
Elise rolled forward, fire swirling around her as she met the first corrupted with a flaming punch to the chest.
BOOM!
Zara moved like ice on water—quick and sharp—piercing through the first wave with frost-laced precision.
Raziel launched a bolt of lightning, blowing one of the corrupted into pieces, but even as it fell, two more took its place.
Lumi gritted her teeth, raising her glowing barrier to protect the rear of the hall.
It was chaos. Elemental attacks and corrupted strikes clashed in the air, with neither side willing to bow.
"Don't hold back!" Raziel barked, unleashing another lightning blast.
But Garren hadn't moved. He stood in the smoke, watching calmly with a provocative smile.
"Annoying wretch!" Zara sneered, ducking a claw and retaliating with a frost blade to the gut.
Shunk!
Garren laughed. "Why not? I enjoy watching my women struggle a bit."
"You pervert!" Elise snarled, her entire arm ablaze. "I'm gonna burn every scale off your disgusting face!"
"Hahahaha, come and try!"
Elise charged forward, fire roaring in her wake. She quickly threw a spinning kick, a ring of fire arcing behind her leg.
BOOM!
The air exploded, but Garren caught her foot mid-air.
"Predictable," he whispered, and slammed her straight into the floor with a sickening crack, disregarding the fact that she was female.
"Elise!" one of the Inferno girls shouted, leaping forward while shooting a fireball at Garren.
"Idiot!" Garren raised a single arm, and the corrupted aura around him formed a shield.
The fireball exploded harmlessly across the surface.
BOOM!
Garren dismissed the barrier, and a beam of corruption shot out from his palm, striking the flame dragon girl and leaving a hole in her chest.
"You'll have to do better," he said casually.
"Damn, Muna!" Elise roared at the top of her voice when she saw the lifeless body of the girl who had spoken to her earlier. "You bastard!"
Raziel surged in, lightning dancing like a storm. His fists flashed forward.
He and Garren collided.
BAM!
The air shook as two forces clashed—lightning against corrupted flame.
Garren blocked, parried, then countered with a fist full of dark energy. Raziel took the hit, flew back, and landed hard against a pillar—but he wasn't out.
Lumi's construct, Big Sister, was occupied with dealing with the others. So she tried to support them from behind her barrier, launching a radiant beam—but one of the corrupted warriors intercepted it.
"These things don't stop coming!" she yelled.
"We need backup!" Zara shouted.
But they couldn't call anyone—not without risking the others. Suddenly, at that critical moment, Zara's eyes widened.
She felt a new surge of energy.
From the eastern corridor—
BOOM! ƒrēenovelkiss.com
A burst of water crashed through the wall, knocking three corrupted warriors flying.
"Sorry we're late." Celestis stepped in, water coiling around her. Beside her was Nyxirith.
Behind them were Valkor and Drake.
Despite seeing the new arrivals, Garren's grin didn't fade.
"Oho… now this is getting fun."
He straightened, spreading his arms. "Bring it, princes and princesses. Let's see if the heirs of the Eight are worth the fear the Monarchs built their kingdoms on."
