Chapter 1985 The Devil.

The instant Rivenar disappeared, Dainar, who was sitting on his throne and sensed his disappearance because of his connection with the Tenebris's Will, froze.

Soon, however, a grin appeared on his face as he sensed Sirecall being used again. He stood up, looking forward to meeting the being who was able to abduct his capable subordinates without leaving any trace at all.

He allowed his body to be teleported to wherever the Sirecall was activated, his body flickered as the Space energy surrounded him.

But then,

Flicker

His body disappeared and appeared right where he was.

"Huh…?"

He frowned.

The teleportation failed.

"What…?"

Once again, he tried sensing where the Sirecall was activated, but this time, the coordinates he got were changed, then they changed again, and again, then again and again.

The coordinates continued to change five times every single second, and Dainar, who was sensing them, narrowed his eyes. The coordinates couldn't be trusted; the Space Laws were being manipulated.

He finally understood who he was facing.

A being with Absolute Mastery over Space. In an instant, three names came to his mind. Only these three beings in the entire Universe were capable of doing something like this so effortlessly.

But…

None of them had any reason to go against him. Heck, if they so wished, they could directly deal with him, so why go after his subordinates?

Dainar's frown deepened.

Then suddenly,

Flicker

A silver spherical crystal appeared in his throne room, right in front of him.

He narrowed his eyes. Obviously, he knew what it was—a Call Artifact given to Quoril, another one of his subordinates who had been abducted.

Bzzz

Then, the Call Artifact started buzzing. It was being activated; someone was trying to contact him. A frosty look appeared on Dainar's face. He waved his hand, and the artifact started hovering in the air and flew toward him.

He picked up the call, and a foreign face he couldn't recognize appeared in front of him.

He had long black hair, long ears, black, curved horns, playful, almost arrogant purple eyes, wings on his back, and an extremely handsome face—too handsome, in fact. Even Dainar, whose beauty standards were different because the two of them were of entirely different races, could tell how good-looking this being was.

"Who are you?"

Dainar questioned directly.

The being grinned.

"The last time I appeared, they called me the Devil."

He replied. Then, he tilted his head with a frown and,

"Or was I the one who called myself that? I don't remember now; it has been a long time."

Dainar's mouth twitched. He finally realized who he was facing.

A crazy bastard.

"Why are you doing this?"

Not wanting to deal with him longer than required, Dainar decided to be direct.

"We have no enmity; I do not even know you. Why are you targeting my subordinates?"

"Do you really not know?"

The Devil grinned.

Dainar narrowed his eyes, and at his reaction, the Devil just chuckled.

"I thought you four were best of friends, you know? It seems I was wrong, very wrong."

"Is it those three bastards?"

Dainar questioned, not hiding his anger as he instantly pointed fingers at his fellow Progenitors.

The Devil just grinned, not saying anything.

"Why are you calling me?"

Dainar questioned.

Whoever this man was, he already had his subordinates. He had no reason to contact him if he was ordered to kill them, but since he had contacted him anyways…

Then there must be something he needed.

Negotiations might be possible.

"You are a smart man, Dainar. You know what you want, and you know how to get it. You should also know that you have no way to get your subordinates back no matter how desperately you try, at least, not until I want to give them back to you.

And women, of course. I am not really a fan of your people's fairer gender, so you can have them all.

The question is,

How much do you value your subordinates?"

At that question, Dainar just laughed.

"How much do you think I value them?"

"Not much, I presume."

The Devil laughed as well.

He had read all of Dainar's subordinates' memories; he knew quite a bit about this man now, so he could guess what he was trying to do.

By trying to show that he didn't value his subordinates, he was trying to gain power in the negotiation—a good tactic, especially considering that the Progenitor really didn't care about his subordinates very much.

Their loss would be… effortful.

Yes, effortful, since the other subordinates wouldn't be as efficient as them, as they wouldn't know the inner workings, and Dainar would need some time to train them.

Yes, that was it.

That was all the value his closest subordinates had for him.

Well, at least that was the case for this bunch of subordinates. The Devil, however, had different plans.

"Did you not wonder?"

Suddenly, the Devil questioned. Dainar frowned at those words, and the Devil continued.

"Those friends of yours know what sort of person you are, yet they still told me to abduct your subordinates. Did you really think they would do so without a plan? Are you not curious to know what their plan is?"

"You will tell me?"

Dainar raised his eyebrow, and the Devil just laughed.

"You have no way to stop it, so why not?"

"What is it? The plan."

"For the next ten thousand years, they have told me to abduct and kill all your close subordinates. This will not only get rid of your information network, but it will also give them a chance to push an agenda that you do not have the power to protect your men.

People under you will begin to live in fear, and then your friends will offer them a helping hand. Your people will switch sides, you will lose power in your own world, and once your allies in the other worlds find out about this, they will deem you to be incompetent, and you will lose them as well.

Your friends plan to take your subordinates, your people, and then your allies before they single you out and end you.

Quite efficient, even if I do say so myself.

I didn't know my powers could be used this way."
