Supreme Harem God System-Chapter 2005 Causality.
Chapter 2005 Causality.
"Fuck this! How am I supposed to win!?"
Nux cursed.
This wasn't a battle anymore.
It was a deadlock.
A fucking loop.
A stalemate where both combatants danced in perfect sync, never a step ahead, never a step behind.
It was a standstill. The two's technique had upgraded to an absurd degree, but even then, Nux wasn't winning.
Rather, he knew winning simply wasn't possible.
This Trial, it was impossible to clear, which itself was impossible on its own.
"Fuck."
Nux cursed again.
His mind was trying to think of every possible way to win. The line of thought was simple: the Temple would never give out an impossible Trial, else there would be no meaning to it.
There was always a way to clear the Trial. The two Trials he had cleared before this were the same as well—they looked impossible, but there was a way out.
A Law.
A new Law.
Nux had already tried re-comprehending the two Time Laws he had comprehended before during the battle, but he failed.
Those two Laws seemed to be sealed as well, just like his own. It meant that he needed to form a new Law.
But the question was…
What Law was he even supposed to follow?
Usually, the answer to this question was hidden in the Trial itself. Right now, however, all he was doing was fighting his own self.
How was it related to Time at all?
Soon, however, Nux noticed something.
The strange place he was in…
He questioned inwardly.
13:50
If it was only a fight, that could have been done in any random space. Heck, one didn't even have to use the resources it took to create a place like this.
'What is the point of this?'
He questioned inwardly.
If it was only a fight, that could have been done in any random space. Heck, one didn't even have to use the resources it took to create a place like this.
A simple room with white walls, floor, and ceiling would have sufficed.
Then why make them fight here instead?
Was the Temple telling him to use his surroundings in a fight instead?
'That could be done…'
Nux muttered.
Using the surroundings to one's advantage was like Fighting 101. However, both Nuxes hadn't tried that.
How could they?
To use one's surroundings, one is supposed to understand the said surroundings—like in a forest, one is supposed to know where the ground is damp, or a terrifying beast is nearby, so he could use that to his advantage and win. The same was true for all other environments as well.
In this case, however, none of them knew anything about their surroundings. It was a place Nux was seeing for the first time.
Heck, he had tripped in this place, something that would usually never hap—
Suddenly, Nux's expression changed as he realized something.
'I tripped on a stone before…'
Again, with how aware of his surroundings he usually was, Nux would never trip on a stone unless…
His surroundings were much different than he thought, and in this case, they were.
[Trial Three: The Garden of Broken Threads]
Once again, Nux's gaze fell on the screen in front of him.
The Garden of Broken Threads…
Once again, he glanced at the world around him—the flowers blooming in reverse, the rain that flowed upward, the birds flying backwards in time, the distorted echoes.
Everything was broken or…
Reversed.
'No, not that.'
Nux shook his head.
This wasn't reversed. He wouldn't have fallen if the things here were just reversed. Simple Time Reversal wouldn't explain many things here.
A better word to describe this place would be…
Disconnected.
This place was disconnected from… something.
It was as if the Time Flow in this place wasn't stable—things were happening before or after they were supposed to happen.
Him tripping after passing the stone, the birds chirping before opening their mouths, trees bearing fruits before blooming,
The Time Flow in this place was… distorted.
This place had no Logic.
It was disconnected from Cause and Effect.
Nux's expression changed.
He finally understood what he was supposed to do. He finally understood what this Trial was about and what Law he was supposed to comprehend.
A Law regarding Causality.
A Law related to Cause and Effect.
With that thought in his mind, Nux's grin widened.
This time, however, he didn't lose himself in confidence—not when he was facing his own self. Nux very well knew how monstrous he was.
If he was thinking of ways to get out of this deadlock, his other self would be the same too. The only advantage he had against his other self was that he tripped.
An extremely insignificant advantage, but it was enough to give him the lead he needed.
With that thought in his mind, Nux started pushing the fight even further, putting in even more effort as his body started adapting, almost as if he wanted to overpower the other Nux.
The reason was simple.
The deadlock could not exist, or the other Nux would start thinking and reach the same conclusion as him.
It was a race against himself, and Nux wanted every single extra second he could get.
Therefore, Nux's mind was now divided into two parts: one focused on pressing the other Nux, making him put more focus on the battle—not allowing him to think—while a very small part of his mind started observing the surroundings and comprehending the new Law.
Yes, he was comprehending a Law while he was fighting his own self at his full capability. His comprehension speed, however, was much slower than usual.
The battle continued. Two Nuxes went at each other, and soon, something changed.
Nux kept the exchange short, so for the first twenty-three exchanges, there was no difference between them. They fought to a draw as their bodies continued to adapt.
At the twenty-fourth exchange, however, it happened.
By the end of the exchange, the other Nux's fist grazed Nux's cheek. It was a light graze, so much so that in the heat of the battle, the fighters wouldn't even feel it.
But in this battle, it was different.
In a battle that had been at a standstill for who knows how long, this was an out-of-normal occurrence.
The other Nux had won the exchange, and this was not good news because…
Now,
The other Nux would realize it as well.
