The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter-Chapter 948: THE FINAL BATTLE (14)
Chapter 948: THE FINAL BATTLE (14)
Two lights, a flicker of red eyes when he stared at his own reflection on the mirror and auburn color that reminded him of dusk sky.
Leane’s voice sounded so far, everything felt unreal, but lucid at the same time.
He was holding a baby. Aliana just gave birth to a baby boy and Ethan looked so happy, as they had been struggling for a long time.
"I am a father now! I am a father!" Ethan looked so happy, he actually jumped up and down and announced it to the entire pack. freēnovelkiss.com
Everyone laughed at his antics. Everyone looked very happy.
But, something didn’t sit right with Cane. Once again, he looked at his reflection in the mirror and found that strange red eyes stared back at him. It didn’t last for long, almost like he actually didn’t see it.
Cane stared at his reflection for a long time. He was holding the baby in his arms and when the baby stopped crying, he immediately checked on him.
"What happened?" Leana asked, but Cane simply shook his head.
He didn’t know why the first thing that came to his mind when the baby stopped crying was the thought the baby was dead.
"Father, let’s play!" Ezga pulled Cane’s cloak. He was smiling at him. He had black eyes and black hair, just like him. A healthy and an active little boy, who was the apple in his eyes.
His little boy shifted for the first time a few months ago and Cane was there to help him going through the process, assured him that everything would be alright, that he was there to guide him every step of the way.
This was a bonding time between a shifter with their cub.
He was so proud of him, still, it didn’t feel right....

"I don’t get it." Joel came to Jace on the morning they supposed to leave to Celestial Moon pack. "You bring Zale with you, but you left me behind? What is the reason beta Jace?"
They said he was too young for this mission and he was needed to stay behind, but then they brought Zale with them.
Zale was literally only twelve years old, thirteen probably, because he didn’t remember when he was born.
"There is a reason for that," Jace replied. He couldn’t disclose what the reason was.
In Joel’s logic, he was right. Zale was too young for this mission, but Zale was also one of Iris’s protectors, where they were sure he would be needed at some point. There was a reason for him to be her protector.
More so, that brat would follow them if they left him behind. He had proven it twice. Unless they tied him up, he would come no matter what they said.
"What is the reason?" Joel tried to understand. He really wanted to go.
Jace looked at him in the eyes. "I can’t say it, Joel. But, I truly need you here. Please, take care of my sister. I am not sure if she actually listened, but there is a chance she will sneak around and follow us. I need you to pay close attention to her. Can you do that for me?" Jace was true to what he said. "I need our people to look over everything and you are the right person to do so."
Joel was not thrilled to be left behind, but he accepted the assignment and agreed to it in the end, since he didn’t have any other option. No matter what, Jace was still the beta. He was the one, who made the final say.
Meanwhile, Ethan had his final moment with Aliana.
The gamma promised her that he would return. He would come to her and everything would be alright. He promised that he would be alive.
"I will keep my promise," Ethan said, as he kissed her goodbye.
For Abby, she would stay with Aliana and the other, because of her condition. Even though she was needed in this journey and her divine power and her knowledge could be any of help, she was heavily pregnant, this would slow them down immensely.
More so, Iris’s four protectors held divine power like her, thus her absent could be compromised.
"Don’t you want to wish me luck?" Lou asked Nala, who was staring at him, while he grabbed a small pouch that filled with magic stones. The magic stones from the Howling Wolf pack’s mines just arrived yesterday morning. "A passionate kiss will be nice."
Nala rolled her eyes, but she walked toward the merchant and gave him a passionate kiss that he wanted. "Don’t die."
"Why? Because you will need to find another man to rely on?"
Nala growled at him. He was right, but seriously, shouldn’t he say it out loud? This man was insufferable. "Yes. That’s why don’t die."
"Well. Let’s see what I can do." Lou pinched her chin. "Did you sleep with another man while I am away?"
Lou knew that she slept with Kian before, but it was because he ordered her to get close to him, but he would be pissed if she did it without his knowledge.
"No." Nala looked offended.
"Not even with Sabian?"
Nala widened her eyes. Sabian was so old, she wondered if he could get up even if she was crazy and insane enough to entertain him.
Seeing her reaction, Lou laughed out loud. "Sabian had ’it’ cut." He joyfully informed her.
The morning was a little bit gloomy with the cold wind blew from the north, as they marched toward Celestial Moon pack. This was the route that Cezi had discussed with Cane and they agreed to take this without the people from the Holy Kingdom came with them.
However, it turned out Cezi would use this route as a plan to rescue the alpha and the luna.
It was fall, the weather was rather cold and the monsters became a little bit aggressive because they were looking for food before they hibernated during winter.
Because of the roundabout route that they took and how they needed to be careful to move in quite large number and the closer they got to Celestial Moon pack, they would often engage in a fight with monsters, because the untouched land was the nest for the monster.
It took them two months to finally reach Celestial Moon pack. At this point, their moral was rather depleted, since it was longer than they expected and during those two months, everything could happen.
They also didn’t know any information from outside, since they couldn’t find a way to send a message without being detected. Unfortunately, the luna’s lizard had gone missing, or it might have died during the battle. No one knew this for sure.
Two months were a long time.
If the enemy managed to capture the alpha, he could have died by now and something worse might happen to their luna.
However, they didn’t have any other choice, but to keep going.
The sky was always gloomy and the wind became even colder when they reached the north territory. The attack from the monster became more frequent.
But, when they reached Celestial Moon pack, the pack had gone. The houses were empty. There were no more people here.
It was an abandoned place to say the least.
Alpha Cezi and Derick had to stop for a while, as they watched their pack had gone. All the people they knew were no longer there and they forbade themselves from thinking the worse, though they knew it was only the worst fact that waited for them in this situation.
=============================
At the beginning, Abby was not comfortable to be among the shifters, they went back to Golden Light pack, but after spending time there for three weeks and Aliana helped her to socialize with the other people, she felt a little bit better, though she couldn’t say she was comfortable with the shifters.
One month after all the warriors left to the north, the elders appeared. They were the only one that survived when Iris was having backlash.
No more knights from the Holy Kingdom. They were wiped out within a second. If Elder Dandolf didn’t have the ability to create a portal, all of them would have died as well.
Elder Rose specifically looked for Abby. She tried to mend the relationship between them, but the latter didn’t seem to be excited with the idea.
Aliana and Joel kept their eyes on them.
At first, they didn’t want to let them get inside the pack, but they swore they had nothing to do with Rei’s plan to kill all of their pack members.
Of course, Aliana wouldn’t believe them easily. After all, they killed so many people of their pack members. Grace, Amee, Otis, Eron, Dyne and so many more... they died in vain, because Rei needed power.
"Scram!" Aliana looked dangerous when she told them to get out of her sight. She was not nice at all with her warning. "It’s already great that I didn’t kill you all!"
However, the elders demanded for Abby to go with them, as they would return to Andelus continent. She was still the Serafim and she needed to fulfill her duty.
"Don’t let them in." Aliana didn’t have time to bicker with them, she simply turned around and then left.
"We can help you to defeat Decratic. You need the knowledge about it!" Elder Xarex was still talking big.
Joel glanced at them disdainfully. "The same old song," he said condescendingly and then followed Aliana.
After that, they didn’t know what happened to the three of them, some said they returned to Andelus continent and some said they were attacked by monsters.
Aliana didn’t believe the latter. The three of them were a skillful magic user, there was no way a monster could defeat them. In that case, they must have gone back to their continent.
Days passed and then weeks, by then three months had gone by just like that without any news at all. Some time, Aliana would go to the border of Red Claw pack, but all she could see was this red smoke that came from the fissure on the ground.
Most of the time, she wanted to go alone to Celestial Moon pack, but Joel would always stop her, more so, she didn’t know the route really well.
With that, fall went just like that and winter came, still without any news whatsoever and Aliana would constantly visit the border and stayed there for a long time.
And during the early winter, Abby gave birth to her first child. Her first baby was a girl, just like how Rei had predicted. She looked healthy and beautiful.
"No, she has no birthmark," Aliana informed Abby, in which she cried in relief. She didn’t want her baby to have such birthmark. It was a curse for her. She didn’t want her baby to live her life like her.
Aliana placed the baby closed to her chest, as the beautiful little one breastfed for the first time and as she stared at the window, she saw the first snow.
Iris would give birth, more or less, within two months from now. She would have her twin during this season again.
Her first twin born during winter and now she would give birth to her another twin during winter too, only if she survived....
Where they were right now? People kept asking that.
Winter was here again and even though they didn’t have a problem with food, but everything went still. People talked about the red smoke and was afraid to get close to it. The continent was in uproar because they were no longer had a king to rule. Every pack started to find their own way to survive.
More so when Alpha Cane was no longer with them. Everything went disarray and confusing.
Aliana stared at the bleak sky and the baby on Abby’s chest started crying.
