Chapter 955: THE FINAL BATTLE (21)

Abby looked up the sky, while holding her newborn. She had this bad omen ever since she saw the black rain started pouring down and the sky became so dark. She knew for sure that this had something to do with Decratic and Iris.

"Ssh... Ssh..." Abby rocked her baby that started crying, as if she could feel her concern. "It’s okay, Bielle, it’s okay."

From the corridor, loud footsteps echoed and not long after there was a knock on her door. It was Aliana. She entered the room even before Abby allowed her to come.

"This is not good," Aliana said.

"I know." Abby thought Aliana was talking about the black rain and the dark sky, but actually, there was something worse than that.

"The red smoke from the poisonous miasma spread around. It’s expanded. It will reach here soon."

Abby’s blue eyes hardened. She rushed out of the room with the crying baby in her arms. "How much time we have?"

"I don’t know, maybe two to three hours," Aliana replied, he rushed behind her.

The two of them entered the carriage that took them to the fortress to see how much time they actually had to prepare for the impact.

"No... it will reach here less than two hours," Abby said and Aliana agreed once they could see it clearer from on top of the fortress.

This was not a bunch of monsters that they were facing, it was something that their warriors would be helpless to fight of.

And their best shoot was...

"Abby, this will be up to you," Aliana said. Abby was not the only magic user here, there were ten more, but surely she was their best chance, since they didn’t have enough magic stone with them, more so, she was the only one, who could summon the Sylph.

"I know." Abby was well aware of the gravity of the situation. She glanced at her baby that was still crying. "I know, but I need you to promise me one thing."

"What is it?" Aliana asked.

People were clamoring around them, as they called the remaining magic users to gather at the fortress. Everyone was very tensed and the pack members could feel it. Soon enough, all of them learned their predicament.

"Please, protect my baby." Abby wouldn’t be able to take care of her baby, while she protected the pack. "Please, protect my Bielle."

She didn’t know where Liam was right now and any hope to find him right now had diminished into nothing.

If she had to lose her baby too. She didn’t know what would happen to her. Now she could really feel and understand the dark days that Iris went through when she lost her babies.

"I promise." Aliana cradled the crying baby in her arms. Her eyes filled with determination. She felt very protective for the baby, as if she was her own. After all, she was there when she was born. She was the one, who helped Abby to give birth. "I will protect her."

Abby nodded. She believed Aliana would protect her Bielle.

With that, they started to make a plan of how to survive this. Because the whole pack was too big and it would take a lot of energy for them to protect such large area, thus they chose to stay inside the pack house.

Therefore, all of the people gathered inside the pack house and then Abby started to summon the Sylph, as the ten magic users gathered. Their only chance was to put the barrier around the pack house.

This was the same method like what Cane did when their pack was attacked by the crows. They opened the pack house and let all the pack member to take shelter inside.

However, there was one thing that they failed to notice.

Amidst the red smoke, the monsters started to appear. It emerged from the fissures on the ground and sure enough, the barrier wouldn’t last long with their brutal attack.

"The shield will not last for long if this continued," one of the magic users said, she was having a hard time to maintain the shield.

Meanwhile, Abby was also struggling. She looked very pale. As someone, who just recently gave birth, it was already a big deal for her to exert such strength. Her body still had not yet fully recovered.

"We will not make it," the magic users said, she looked very dreadful, as she realized there was no way out of here. This would be the end of them.

"I saw the device!" Arella said. "I saw the device that the merchant created!" She suddenly remembered this. She asked about this device to Joel before and he explained what kind of device was that. "Joel, do you think we can use it?!"

Joel widened his eyes, he completely forgot about the device that could prevent monster attack. The merchant had invented this thing.

"But, we need to activate it," Aliana said.

"There is still time, if we can reach the fortress, we can activate it and maybe it will hold back the monsters, giving us enough time." Joel thought about it and came up with this solution.

He was right. They felt like kicking their butt when they forgot about this crucial detail, putting them in dangerous situation now.

"I will go to activate the device." Joel volunteered.

"Good job, Arella." Aliana flashed a warm smile to the timid girl. It still bothered her when she knew what she had gone through in Kellan’s hand. Thankfully, she recovered really well. Mentally and physically. "I will go with you, Joel," she said, but Joel refused.

"I can move faster than you, Aliana. More importantly, I know how to activate the device." When Lou built the device in their pack, he came to help too, so more or less, he knew how to operate it.

"I am as fast as you, you might need help out there," Finn said. "I am going with you. I know how to activate the device too."

They had gone through a lot together and after their mission in the Goffa mountain, where the king died, they lost a lot of friends around their age. That was why they were very close, because there were not many warriors from Howling Wolf pack around their age right now.

"Let’s go!" Finn shifted into his beast form before Joel could reject that, thus he could only follow his best friend and raced him to the fortress.

Fortunately, they were not the only person, who remembered about this device. The inventor of this thing finally remembered his work in this capital city before everything turned very chaotic.

Riding on Lil Thing’s back, Lou activated his device. At the very least, when they had to deal with Decratic, his followers, black magic users and this red smoke, they didn’t need to fight against those ugly monsters too.

Lou cursed himself to forget about it. What to do? He was a busy man, okay...

Redmond’s wolf raced beside Lil Thing, as they avoided the crack on the grounds. There were so many warriors had fallen to the abyss.

In the distance, they could see Cedric was having a hard time to dodge the crack and almost fell too, but Zephyr’s beast immediately came to his rescue and the knight ended up riding on the beast’s back.

"We need to stop Decratic from hurting the luna further!" Cedric shouted against the roaring thunder. They were drenched in black rain and Lou couldn’t be more upset than this. He hated this black rain with passion.

"That’s not a news at all! We know that! But, the problem here is ’how’?!" Lou shouted back, as thunder and lightening split the dark sky. It was very terrifying.

"Help the lycan to get close to Decratic and the luna!" Cedric looked around. "Where are alpha Cezi and Zale?!"

"Ah! That young brat! Where is he?!" Lou scoured the area. "Don’t tell me he fell into one of the fissures?!"

Lil Thing suddenly turned right and started to rush toward the east side of the palace, where Redmon, Zephyr and Cedric followed after the bear.

Good thing was, when they found Zale, he was with Cezi and Derick. From the look of it, Derick seemingly had injured himself and was forced to shift back into his human form. Cezi and Zale were in their human form too, as they took care of the old former alpha.

"What is it? What happened?" Lou got off Lil Thing’s back, so did Cedric, as they approached them.

They shouldn’t stay in one place for so long, because the fissure could appear under their feet all of sudden. It would be too late for them to avoid it.

"My father breathed too much red smoke," Cezi said grimly. He tried to heal him with Zale help too. He couldn’t be thankful enough for luna Iris to make him her protectors, or else, he wouldn’t be able to heal his father.

Of course, he knew Iris didn’t have a say in it, but he still felt very grateful for her.

"We need to move now, put him on Lil Thing’s back, we can’t stay here for long," Lou said. He watched how the red smoke spread so wide and now they were closer to where Decratic and Iris were with no way back.

"I am fine now," Derick said, he groaned when they helped him to get on Lil Thing’s back. He felt bad because he held them. "Is there a plan?" he asked.

"Yeah, there is one." Lou narrowed his eyes, because in the distance he could see the lycan had reached where Iris and Decratic were, but he couldn’t get through the barrier that the devil created, though he should be able to neutralize the dark magic.

This time, it must be different if he couldn’t neutralize it.

Cedric explained briefly their simple plan. "Now, the problem is, how can we get there in time."

Lou stood up and then created a portal. "Problem solved."

The portal appeared close to the lycan was and beside him, Jace and Ethan were there too, but the two of them couldn’t get closer than this.

The power from Decratic, the pain from Iris that fed him and also the power from lycan had created this strong whirlwind full of black magic.

Normal shifter would feel very suffocated when they got closer to them and where Jace and Ethan were standing was the closer they could get to them.

"What now?!" Cedric shouted against the harsh, howling wind. "How can we help?!"

In truth, they were the one, who needed to be helped, because they were in more dire situation. The red smoke was getting closer and the harder the lycan tried to break the shield, the harder it was for them to breath.

Right now, the palace had been destroyed, it was nothing, but a foundation. You could only imagine what kind of catastrophe that was going on that could destroy a whole building like a palace.

The lycan hollered when he felt the mate bond snapped. It was gone. It had gone. Decratic had gotten rid of his mark on her.

The agony of it was horrendous, the lycan’s body fell to the ground and the black wisp burst. It looked like a huge shadow casted upon them, but from behind it, inside the barrier where Iris and Decratic were, there was this cracking sound and a second later the barrier shattered into pieces, where Decratic emerged with Iris in his arms. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

"Should we kill him first?" Decratic asked, he tilted his head at the lycan.

Decratic looked different. His presence was very strong. You could feel the power that emanated from his body. The malice in his eyes.

But, Iris looked empty, blood streamed down from her neck. Her mark had gone and now she looked like a lifeless doll in Decratic’s arms.

"Let’s get rid of him."
