The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter-Chapter 967: THE FINAL BATTLE (33)
Chapter 967: THE FINAL BATTLE (33)
Aliana and Hanna couldn’t help to coo the baby in their arms, after they were clean and Iris breastfed the two of them, they fell asleep.
The little ones had not yet opened their eyes, but who cared? They took after the alpha so much even when they were just born.
If you looked closely, you would be able to tell that they had curls. They had black hair with curls. Maybe, that was the only resemblances to their mother.
Meanwhile, Cane and Abby attended to Iris. It was also a sad moment to think Grace was not there with them, since her absent was very much felt at this joyful moment.
It was also sad that their two sons wouldn’t know Amee when they grew up. She would be a great grandmother figure for both of them.
There were so many bittersweet moment at this time, but it didn’t make them felt very grateful for this safe delivery and how well Iris’s condition after the great ordeal.
"I will leave the two of you now, I will come back tomorrow to check on you, again," Abby said, she needed to check on Bielle. She still couldn’t fully trust Elder Rose with her daughter. freewebnσvel.cøm
Iris thanked her, while Cane nodded politely. He didn’t leave Iris’s side, he even had not yet looked at his sons properly, since his main focus was on his mate, making sure she was really comfortable and fine.
"Do you need anything else?" Cane asked, his voice was still guarded. Abby had left the room and there was only the two of them. Night fell and the noise from the bustling street could be heard, as they lit up torches.
"Yes," Iris said softly.
"What is it? What do you need?" Cane tensed up.
"I need you to relax, Cane. You have been very anxious. It’s fine now, the critical moment had passed and now I am fine," Iris said gently, she caressed his cheek and smoothened the wrinkle between his brows.
"I am fine, you don’t need to worry about me."
"If you kept making face like you are going to war to welcome our son, of course, I will be worried," she teased him.
Cane didn’t need to tell her what kind of turmoil that brew inside of him during the delivery, because Iris could completely understand him, but he couldn’t keep acting like that, especially when all of them here, a little bit tired, but was enraptured by their new family members.
The alpha lowered his head, he was sitting on the edge of the bed, next to her, while holding her hand tightly.
"I am glad..." he whispered softly, kissing her knuckles and a tear of joy fell on her hand. Word wouldn’t be able to describe how he felt right now.
Watching Iris to give birth to their sons and try to control his mind from going into the dark place, as it kept going back to the moment they had their daughters. It was a tumultuous of emotion.
"Thank you, thank you for being so brave," Cane said. "Thank you for not giving up."
Iris had tears in her eyes, she gestured to Cane that she wanted to hug him and he lowered his body, rested his head against her shoulder, he hugged her very carefully, afraid that his touch would hurt her.
"Thank you for believing in me." Iris snuggled against his chest, she was very tired. Thankfully, she had eaten something and now with the comfort of her mate, she started dozing off.
Only when Iris finally fell asleep, Cane slowly released her body. He tucked her in and walked out of the room to see his sons.
Because of what happened, they didn’t have a proper conversation about what name they wanted for their sons, but it was not a big deal, they would take their time to find the names that suit them.
Outside of the door, Cane found Joel, Finn, Zephyr and Kian, they congratulated him.
"Don’t worry, alpha, we will stand guard here!" Joel said enthusiastically. "Dean and Pax were right outside of the balcony and a few of our warriors are around the inn too." Joel was too excited and reported everything to Cane when it supposed to be Zephyr, who did that.
"Good work." Cane appreciated it and then walked to the room next door, where Aliana and Hanna were both mesmerized by the babies.
Zale was with them, also Will, Ethan and Jace, they congratulated him and wished him all the good things in the world.
"You really didn’t hold back, the babies are the exact copy of you," Ethan commented. "But, of course, they absolutely cuter than you."
Cane didn’t heed his remark, because cute was not the word that could describe him in the first place. He left the babies with Hanna and Aliana because he knew they would be taken care of really well.
"How is miss Iris?" Hanna asked, she handed the firstborn to Cane. The baby pursed his lips, but didn’t wake up. "Can I see her?"
"She is sleeping, you can see her tomorrow."
Hanna didn’t push, she didn’t want to disturb Iris’s rest too.
"Are you sure you are going to carry them two, alpha?" Aliana asked, she looked reluctant to part with the baby in her arms.
"I can handle it," Cane said. This was not the first time, he carried his twin at the same time.
"Okay," Aliana said softly, she still wanted to hold onto the baby a little bit longer. The second baby looked smaller than his sibling, he had his little mouth slightly opened when he was sleeping.
"Don’t be sad, we can make a baby on our own and you can be with the baby all the time," Ethan consoled Aliana when he saw how sad she was and got a slap on the back of his head from Jace.
"I will stand guard for the babies too!" Zale announced, as he rushed out of the door and joined Joel and the other.
"Thank you, I am glad all of you survived," Cane thanked them genuinely. They had not yet a proper talk, but they must be too exhausted and it was already night, there was still tomorrow for them to catch up.
"So we are," Aliana replied politely.
With that, Cane took back the babies to their bedroom, where there were two cribs had been prepared for his babies. He put them one by one carefully. The firstborn made a fuss when he was being put down and Cane had to comfort him until he fell asleep again, only then he returned to his mate.
Iris was still sleeping soundly when Cane joined them. He hugged her and thanked her for everything and also the pain that she was willing to go through to give birth to their sons, also all the misery she had to endure when she chose to stay by his side.
"I love you, Iris. My love. My solace." He cradled her carefully in his arms, feeling blissful to have her in his wretched life.
The next day was a day before the ships from Karam continent docked and the commotion grew wildly in the harbor.
