The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter-Chapter 981: I CAN SAVE HIM
Chapter 981: I CAN SAVE HIM
The moment Aliana saw the poisonous miasma that appeared close to the pack, she knew immediately there was only one way to stop it. She was well aware of the existence of the pillars and that Letto was one of it. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
She felt bad for the young man, because not like the other evil people around him, he was actually very nice with the girls that they saved from Kellan’s hand and the only man that the girls trusted was him.
Aliana came to Letto and tell him about the appearance of poisonous miasma, he knew what his fate was and when it was hard for Aliana to ask for his sacrifice, Letto took the first initiative.
’W- we need to get to luna Iris quickly, right?’
That was what he said.
Knowing Elder Dandolf could create a portal, Aliana got him to agree to take them to see Iris and the other.
Therefore, here they were. They had walked out of the Lucentsand desert area, above them the sky was already so bright and the wind was rather warm.
"I- I am ready," Letto said, his voice was trembling a little bit when he spoke, but the determination in his eyes was not wavering.
Iris felt her heart ached to see this. There were so many deaths already...
"Let’s go back to the pack first," Iris said, There must be another way. The last thing she wanted was to have another life taken by her own hands.
However, Cane could see through her and he knew what she intended to do, thus he reminded her gently. "There is no other way out of this."
From the last knowledge Cane got from Lu, the poisonous miasma would disappear once all the pillar had been destroyed and now, Letto was the last pillar.
"No. There must be another way out," Iris said, she was being stubborn. "Let’s go back first."
Elder Dandolf didn’t talk much, as he created a portal to bring them back. He realized that Rei had gone. These people managed to kill him. His immortality couldn’t save him from the true Serafim’s power.
It was very ironic to think Rei was the one, who had this undying faith that he was going to find the true Serafim. To find his Na, but in the end, he was killed by her.
Elder Dandolf had been following Rei ever since he was little. He looked up to him, but now he was gone, the pure faction lost their foundation. More so, he didn’t think they would give him an easy way out, if there was any at all.
Once they arrived at the pack, Iris could see the red smoke in the distance.
"Can I be saved, luna?" Letto asked, he had this blank expression on his face to see the red smoke. He was scared. Who didn’t scare to their impending death? This young man was not an exception either. "Can you save me, luna?"
Iris’s heart was bleeding when she heard that.
Was there a way to save him? If there was, how? How she could save him? There was no time. Iris was too spent to purify the massive red smoke, so did her other protectors.
"No," Cane said curtly. "There is no way to save you." He could see it in Iris’s eyes. She was thorn and devastated. She couldn’t bring herself to tell him about this, thus Cane took the matter into his own hand and shattered Letto’s hope before it would hurt him even more.
The alpha had tasted the first hand of how hope could destroy you more than the destruction itself.
Letto opened his mouth, but there was no voice that came out of him. He looked at Iris and then Cane and then the rest of them. In the end, he nodded. Surrendered to his fate...
"I- I understand..."
Iris bit her lips, she felt very helpless. She was tired and wanted all of this to end. She wanted all of this suffering to end completely, so all of them could rest and grief properly...
"I – I am sorry, I am really sorry..." Iris tried to hold back her tears, but she couldn’t. Thankfully, her mate was there to keep her from falling apart.
Abby didn’t know Letto, but her heart ached for him. She wanted to help, but she didn’t even know what to do.
And now, there was only Iris’s cry and apology that filled the air. It was so heavy, their hearts were very heavy with a lot of emotions that they had to unpack.
Iris was very emotional right now, she kept apologizing to Letto because she couldn’t save him and even though Letto said that he forgave her and asked her to stop crying, she couldn’t...
It took Iris some time to calm down and when she did, there was this deep guilty in her eyes.
"I am sorry, Letto. I am sorry."
"It’s okay, luna. I know that you have tried your best." Letto smiled.
Hearing that, Iris’s felt her broken heart fell into pieces again. This guilty feeling coursed through her veins when she reached to him to hug him and apologize again.
"Will it be painful?" Letto asked, he was only slightly taller than Iris, his skinny body made him looked like a few years younger than his actual age. "Can you make it less painful?"
Iris nodded, she closed her eyes, as tears streamed down her face. She hugged him tightly when this light exuded from her body.
"Oh, this is warm..." Letto said before his body engulfed within this light and his existence vanished into thin air.
And now, Iris was hugging an empty space. She fell down and broke down crying so hard. Her emotions were all over the place. She witnessed so many deaths already and Letto’s death gave her the final blow, shattered her.
Iris must have fainted at some point, as she cried because when she opened her eyes, she was on the bed, while Cane was staring at her with worried in his eyes.
"Iris?" Cane stretched out his hand to caress her cheek. "I will call the healer." They managed to find one among the people.
But, Iris held Cane’s hand tightly and started crying again. "I kill him, Cane..." she said between her whimper.
"No, you didn’t." Cane kissed her forehead. He didn’t want her to blame herself for something that was out of her hand. "You are not the one, who killed him. Rei and Decratic did it."
Iris pressed his hand against her face, as she cried again. She couldn’t hold it any longer. She needed to confess.
"No, Cane... you don’t understand..." Iris’s voice was very coarse, every time she spoke, she felt like she was eating sand, but the pain made her felt a little bit better, because it felt like a punishment for her, which she thought, she deserved it. "I can save him, Cane... I can save him, but I chose not to."
Cane furrowed his brows. "You can’t save him. Lu said..."
Iris shook her head. "I can save him. There is a way to save him, but I didn’t do it."
"But, why?"
