Chapter 418: Prologue:

To all readers,

First and foremost, I want to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation to each and every one of you. I extend my thanks with a full heart, as I truly believe that without your unwavering support, my lifelong aspiration to pen a story would have remained just that—a dream.

Your encouragement and presence have been instrumental in achieving this dream, and I am incredibly grateful for that. Thank you from the very core of my being!

The day I saw someone reading my story, leaving comments, and giving it a review was the happiest day of my life.

Your support means everything to me, and I’m so grateful for each and every one of you.

After a long break and a lot of thinking, I’ve decided to continue writing because of all the wonderful readers who have supported me.

A new book is coming your way, and it’s the story of their children. I hope and pray that you all will give them a chance and some love, just like you have given to their parents’ stories.

*******************************************

Ava, the oldest daughter of CEO Jeff Go had recently donned her cap and gown and proudly walked across the stage to accept her college diploma.

She can now finally return home for the holidays, looking forward to some much-needed relaxation and time with her family.

Little did she know that her fiancée had been harboring intentions of publicly announcing their impending marriage, believing the time was right to do so.

However, Ava had other plans. She was determined to pursue her career and pave her own path in life before settling down.

She simply wasn’t ready to be tied down with a marriage certificate.

Feeling suffocated by the idea of being bound by societal expectations, she knew she had to escape this situation as quickly as possible... fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

As she hastily crammed one garment after another into her backpack, she muttered fiercely to herself, "Do you seriously think you can force me to be married to that ***hole? I’m not foolish enough to stick around and just wait for that to happen."

She had only just arrived from a long flight from America when her parents dropped the bombshell that the Jones family would be arriving and her engagement to either Ashton or James would be announced to the entire world.

She didn’t mind the idea of getting engaged first and married later if only she knew who she would be engaged to. However, the uncertainty of which of the twin brothers she would be engaged in is a mystery not only to her but also to her parents.

Ashton, one of the twin brothers, was a good friend, but she had never felt any romantic attraction towards him. On the other hand, James had left a lasting impression on her.

Despite her growing feelings for him, she had no clue whether he shared the same emotions.

It had been three long years since he vanished from her life, even though they had been living in the same state.

Ava had been incredibly occupied with her rigorous studies and intense training, completely unaware of James’s activities over the past three years.

In a last-ditch effort, she attempted to reach out to her closest friend, Akira, in the hope of gaining some insight.

Unfortunately, Akira and her family were already en route to the Philippines on their private jet, rendering Ava’s efforts futile.

Feeling determined, Ava turned to her father, the individual who had orchestrated the agreement with his close friend CEO Jones for this prearranged marriage.

She hastily freshened herself up, hoping to find her father downstairs.

"Come on, Dad! You can’t do this to me," she pleaded, her tear-streaked face showing her anguish.

"I’ve said it countless times—I’ll only marry for love. You can’t force me to marry someone I don’t love. I’d rather stay single for the rest of my life than marry without feelings. I’m just not ready for marriage yet. Please, Dad, give me a break."

As Jeff watched his daughter’s emotional plea, he felt a pang of guilt, blaming himself for decisions made years ago.

He had hoped that by bringing their children together, they might develop some mutual understanding or even fall in love. But to his disappointment, not only had they not developed any connection, it seemed they actually despised each other.

Over the past three years, Ava and James had been training at the same facility, yet they never crossed paths.

James always found ways to avoid meeting Ava face-to-face, only inquiring about her training or studies indirectly.

Whenever Jeff mentioned James, Ava displayed no interest and quickly changed the subject. It became clear to Jeff that his daughter had no interest in James at all.

Considering James’s twin, Ashton, who was currently a famous idol worldwide, Jeff hesitated.

However, after reflecting on Ava’s character, he doubted they were a good match. It seemed the only way forward was for James to agree to break off the engagement.

"Sweetheart, how about this," Jeff offered tentatively. "I can’t promise anything right now, but I will try to speak with Tanaga and Ashley. If they agree, we will postpone the announcement indefinitely."

Jeff carefully avoided promising to break the engagement, instead opting to postpone it for an unspecified period

Upon hearing her father’s words, Ava’s tears subsided briefly.

However, she couldn’t comprehend why her father chose to postpone the event rather than cancel it altogether.

Just as she was about to inquire further, her father intervened, signaling an end to the discussion.

"Alright, that’s enough for today. You need to rest before they arrive. We will be having dinner with them tonight," Jeff announced as he stood up and guided his daughter to her room.

Ava, feeling discontent with her father’s response and proposed resolution, resolved firmly that she would not remain to be sacrificed and forced into marriage with either of the twins.

She commenced making arrangements for her carefully devised getaway.

Her only choice was to use a no-name brand backpack that she’d purchased the other day since she simply couldn’t use her suitcase, what with jumping out from the terrace to escape.

After double-checking that she had everything she needed, she meticulously confirmed the presence of her passport and a substantial amount of cash.

She had taken out enough money to ensure that her movements couldn’t be tracked once she departed.

With the essentials accounted for, she scrutinized her reflection in the mirror to ensure that her disguise was flawless and that nothing appeared amiss. It was crucial to her that she wouldn’t be identified once she departed.

Hurriedly, she made her way to the balcony, the urgency of her movements betraying her fear.

As she gripped the doorknob, she carefully eased the door open, the hinges silent as she peered outside.

Wary eyes scanned the surroundings, searching for any sign of movement or presence.

With a sigh of relief, she noted that the coast was clear, and with quick, determined steps, she descended the balcony and broke into a sprint, the urgency of her escape propelling her forward as if she were fleeing from impending doom.

"God, I beg of you, let me escape here without getting caught. I can’t marry that jerk, and I just can’t," she begged while sprinting towards the back gates.

She made sure to survey the area ahead, confirming that the guards were diligently patrolling the vicinity, and were not in the vicinity of her planned escape route.

With caution, she proceeded towards the gate, taking occasional glances to the left and right to ensure no one was in sight.

As Ava hurried along, the realization that there was no one around caused her to quicken her pace even further.

She moved as though she were a participant in a marathon, her breaths coming in ragged gasps.

After what seemed like an eternity, she finally reached the back gate. Pausing for a brief moment to catch her breath, she realized she was already quite worn out from her frantic sprint.

Once she had less difficulty breathing, she turned around, looking at the vast mansion that lay behind her...

As she felt the tears welling up, she took a deep breath to steady herself.

With the teardrops poised to escape from her delicate angelic visage, she uttered softly to herself, "Farewell, my beloved family. I cherish you all deeply, but I cannot bring myself to wed that despicable man, even if it means the end of me."

With that, she vanished into the obscurity of the dark, somber night.
