After her bath, Harlow stepped back into the bedroom, towel-drying her damp hair. But as she glanced around, she realized the room was empty.

Alanis wasn’t there.

She paused for a moment, a little surprised. He had actually given her space instead of hovering around like he usually did. Maybe he had finally decided to change, who knows.

Shaking off the thought, she made her way into the closet and picked out something comfortable to wear. Maybe something big. After changing, she left the room, her bare feet making soft sounds against the floor as she walked down the hallway.

When she reached the dining room, she came to an abrupt stop.

The long table was filled with different dishes, their rich aroma filling the air. Steaming bowls of soup, perfectly grilled meat, freshly baked bread, and colorful side dishes were neatly arranged in front of her.

Harlow blinked. Did Alanis really make all of this?

How?

She was impressed as she took in the sight. She had expected something simple, maybe just one or two dishes, or their usual bowl of chicken soup. But this...

This was a feast.

"Come," his deep voice interrupted her thoughts and her green eyes met his.

She looked up to see Alanis standing by the table bus apron still on his waist and shirt still unkept. Pulling out a chair for her. His dark eyes held a quiet intensity, but there was something else in them too, something warm.

"Let’s have dinner together," he said.

Harlow hesitated for just a moment before stepping forward. She sat down, feeling an odd sense of comfort as he pushed her chair in before taking his own seat beside her.

She glanced at the food again, a small smile tugging at her lips. Her mouth watered just staring at the dish. It looked so tasty, and she was sure it would be good.

"Are you too weak to eat, I’ll feed you." Alanis raised his hands to get the spoon when she caught it.

"No, I’m not too weak. I can eat by myself." He nodded and went ahead to fill his plate. Harlow did hers slowly, the first thing she went for was the soup, and just as she imagined, it tasted so good.

She could not have imagined a better taste than this. "You cooked all of these alone?" Harlow finally asked. She was curious, she knew how tiring it was to make one dish, yet Alanis had prepared a feast.

"I did." Alanis bellowed. "Impressed now are we?" Harlow was truly impressed.

"Maybe you choose the wrong profession." He smiled at her words.

She took the next sip of soup and then remembered something. "How did the meeting go?" She asked. She recalled she had asked Alanis to attend the meeting in her place, she wanted to know how everything went down.

"The next products will be launched next week. We’ll leave the marketing team to it." He said calmly to see her nod.

"I want to ask you a favor." Harlow suddenly and Alanis was all ears.

"What is it?" He asked giving all of his attention to her. She opened her mouth to speak but didn’t know where to start from. After a moment of hesitation, she finally said, "I just discovered today that Claudia is not my sister." She started.

By morning both George and Garth had left the Hamilton’s estate for the civil affairs. Elisa had called Garth last night after a long discussion with Frank about the marriage of their children. In her words, she said a grand wedding would come after, but she couldn’t let shame come on them. If they are to wait any longer, people might find out about Claudia’s pregnancy.

When they arrived at the civil affairs, "Mother." Lia greeted her mother. She had added a little weight because her sister-in-law Claudia decided to be extra generous with her. But she was still beautiful.

"We have been waiting for you guys." She said.

"Yes, yes, George had to dress his wounds before we arrived," Gary explained as they went inside the building. As always, they had somehow managed to shut down the entire building for Claudia and George’sarriage registration first.

Anyone who had to get married today would have to wait till they were done with their registration. A handful of people stood outside in line waiting for the Blackwood’s heiress to be done.

"Garth, what took you so long?" Elisa asked. Beside her were Frank and Bodhi who stared at the young man. He hadn’t argued about his daughter getting married to him because he was a Hamilton and above all, his daughter was already pregnant.

"I’m so sorry Elisa, George had a few things to attend to," Garth explained.

"Good morning Mr Blackwood." Garth greeted politely but Frank only waved at her. He was getting strong again after he stopped his morning tea, and started his medications. So he didn’t need his extra legs to be able to walk or stand.

"Mr Hamilton, it’s time." The officer stepped out and both people followed him into his office. In no time, both Claudia and George who hadn’t spoken to each other all week signed the papers.

Finally, she was officially married to George. She was now a member of the Hamilton family. Which means she had the same rights as Harlow now.

Claudia and George stepped out of the office with their marriage certificate in their hands.

"Congratulations to the newly married couple in town." Elisa bellowed with a smile and Claudia couldn’t help but smile back.

"You’re going to be living in our estate from now on Claudia. Make sure you stay away from Harlow for the next two days I won’t be with you." Lia warned.

"That is not an issue, I will be there with my daughter and make sure that bitch doesn’t come close to her." Elisa hissed.

"There’s no need for that. I will never let that barren woman come close to my daughter-in-law." Garth spat.

"Yes mother, you need to keep a close eye on Claudia. Yesterday, Harlow had tried to hurt her child. We can’t let anything happen to our niece." Lia said.

"She did that?" Garth asked furiously and Lia nodded.

"Why did no one say a thing about it? I would have dealt with her myself."

"That bitch." George murmured.
