While George went ahead to another sector of the party after ditching his brother. He saw a woman, clad in a red dress, flowing down to the floor. He couldn’t see her front, but her back looked all too familiar.
She looked like the woman he had been searching for all this time. Claudia Blackwood his now ex-wife. It’s been seven years since he last saw her meaning their marriage was over.
George didn’t care if they were separated. It’s not like he liked her anyway. He had only gotten close to her to spite his brother. All he wanted now was his child. He couldn’t let his child suffer because of her.
George moved towards her, his steps loud and deliberate as he approached the woman. He stretched his hands to touch her when an old man appeared by her side.
"Let’s go, I’ve arranged a room for us." He said. George knew the man all too well. He’s Edgar Lincoln, the Lincoln family head. A notorious whoremonger who lost his wife many years back and since then has refused to marry.
He should have known that is why he hosted such an extravagant party for his daughter. So that he could find a new catch to sleep with after the party.
Is this what Claudia has become? Did she leave him for this?
George’s blood boiled as he watched her leave, with the man. He could take it if she had left him for someone else, but Edgar?
He grabbed her shoulder and turned her around before she could leave. "Claudia." He called staring at her. Claudia’s eyes turned wide as she stared at him, and then like a remote she acted like she didn’t know who he was.
"What, who are you?" She asked.
"What are you doing? I don’t have time for your nonsense." The old man said impatiently and Claudia started walking away. She had not expected to see George at a party like this, the Hamilton brothers are never in events like this.
She knew why George wanted to speak to her. He must be thinking she has hidden their child away from him. If only he knew their child was no more.
Those bastards have killed her child and turned her into a sex worker for billionaires. For seven years, even if she’s slept with all of the Billionaires in Halkhalls, she still hasn’t paid off the debt she owes the loan sharks.
Most times, they pimp her with so many other billionaires around the world. There isn’t a disease she hasn’t contracted from most of those men. Right now, the once-beautiful Claudia now looked so old and ugly.
George turned speechless as he stared at her. He had no idea what she had done to herself, but this didn’t look normal anymore. Immediately, he searched around for his brother.
"What do you want Mr Hamilton? I can give you anything to have a night with you." More than seven women stood before Alanis, each of them offering themselves accompanied with riches and wealth. But he was barely interested in any.
He couldn’t even recall the last time he felt a desire for sex. Since Harlow left, no woman has made him feel anything. His world has turned so dark, so empty, so cold.
"Is that so?" Alanis asked seeming interested in their promise.
"Yes, I will." The girl said with utmost joy. It is a huge privilege to be the next woman ’Mr Lover Boy’ showers his love on. Everyone was eager to take Harlow’s place. They wanted to replace her so badly.
"We will too." The others responded after her willing to steal her shine.
"Even if I tell you to jump off a cliff?" Alanis asked and they all stared between themselves.
"B... But Mr Hamilton. If we jump off the cliff, how do we leave you?" The girl asked innocently and the other agreed with side comments.
"Yes." They screamed in unison. Alanis smiled.
"Easy." He drawled. "If you survive, I might consider you my woman." They each wanted to faint at these words. This meant he would not be ashamed of doing everything he did for Harlow out in public again. This was the biggest opportunity ever.
"We will jump off the cliff if that means we’ll be with you." One declared and the others agreed in unison. Alanis almost slapped his face but he held himself.
"Jump off the cliff for who?" George’s voice boomed around them and they each turned to look at the man.
"Scram!" He ordered but the women there didn’t seem to move. They each frowned as they watched him.
"Why should we, this is a free party." One said.
"Yes. Just say you’re jealous Mr George that no woman wants to jump the cliff for you." Another said and George rolled his eyes.
Are these women smart at all? His eyes went to Alanis who chuckled at their words. His stupid brother who wouldn’t smile or speak moments ago was truly enjoying himself. If he hadn’t gained a little weight, Alanis knows he is no match for him.
"I set you all up with my brother. I paid you all to seduce him, I can fire you whenever?" George barked and the women started walking away one after another.
George was already pissed at the woman he saw earlier and now this?
"What a mood. I thought we came here to have fun. It seems I’m the only one enjoying myself." Alanis emptied his glass of wine before placing it on the table.
"I was having fun till I saw her again," George said settling on a chair there. He regretted attending this party tonight.
"By her, you mean?" Alanis asked feigning ignorance.
"My ex-wife. Claudia. I think she left me to be a whore or something. Or she probably left me to date older guys." George said.
"I don’t think that’s the case." Alanis suddenly said.
"What do you mean by that?" George asked staring at his brother. To him, the worst mistake their family has ever made was getting involved with the Blackwoods.
Ever since they got together, all they have known is trouble. The two Blackwood girls are a curse to them.
"While I searched for my wife, I received a message concerning yours. But I thought you didn’t need such information so I kept it to myself." Alanis said. This was his surprise for George for thinking he could outsmart him.
"What information is that? Is it where she hid my son?" George asked but Alanis shook his head.
"She didn’t have to give birth to your son. She killed him." George frowned at his brother’s words. Alanis probably was just messing with him.
He was drunk and needed to sober up.
"Come on let’s go home. I’m sorry for bringing you out here in the first place." George pleaded.
"I thought making you see other women will make you forget your wife. It turns out my plans had backfired." George confessed to seeing his brother chuckle.
"I knew," Alanis said. "But I’m serious with what I told you." His face suddenly turned serious.
"Your wife owed a huge debt. That’s the reason she tried to steal from the company. She wanted to clear her debt and since she couldn’t, they killed your son." Alanis said turning George speechless.
"No, that can’t be." George shook his head. "You’re drunk Alanis, by morning you’ll forget everything you just said. Let’s go home." George rose from where he sat.
"I haven’t even finished my second glass, how can I be drunk?" Alanis asked.
"You just saw your wife now didn’t you?" He asked and George nodded. Though Claudia has changed a lot, she still recognizes her.
"She’s now a sex worker. She sleeps around with rich men to pay off her debt. She’s been in the game for so long, how have you not heard about her?" Alanis asked.
George moved his hands through his hair, he felt like he was going crazy with all of the information he was getting from Alanis.
How has he not heard all of these?
George didn’t understand why Claudia would hide much from him. Why did she do that, he would have never scolded her for trying to steal. He would have fought Harlow and Alanis to release the money.
"I... I need to talk to her." George got up. He needed to hear things from her. Alanis must have heard wrong, but if Claudia was not a sex worker why would she be with old man Edgar?
George ruffled his hair again, he took Alanis’s drink, and gulped it all again.
"I need more," George said looking around to call a waiter. He took all of the glasses of drink from the tray and started drinking all of them one after another.
"Slow down George," Alanis said calmly. He was not here to babysit anyone, but his brother was acting all stupid again.
