The Country Life Diary of a Gangster's Secretary-Chapter 139
After the Incident in the Hospital Room
Shortly after the incident in the hospital room, Lee Hyuk began the discharge process. The doctor recommended staying a bit longer for observation, but Lee Hyuk refused, eager to return to his duties at the company. Seeing his remarkable recovery, the doctor didn’t press further.
Despite the revelation that Daehyun orchestrated all the recent troubles, there were still many issues for Taesung to resolve.
“Don’t overdo it,” Hyesung advised.
“Make sure you don’t skip meals just because I’m not around,” Lee Hyuk responded.
Seeing Lee Hyuk dressed in regular clothes rather than his hospital gown made Hyesung’s heart flutter, but it also left him feeling a bit empty. He was now the only one left in the large hospital ward. Although Hyesung had repeatedly expressed his desire to be discharged as well, Lee Hyuk firmly refused.
Lee Hyuk insisted that Hyesung stay until his injuries were fully healed, especially considering the pheromone issues. Faced with this, Hyesung couldn’t argue further.
“I’ll visit every day,” Lee Hyuk said, sensing Hyesung’s loneliness.
“You’ll be busy once you’re back at work; you don’t need to do that,” Hyesung replied.
“Visiting you is my right, so don’t interfere,” Lee Hyuk said, gently squeezing Hyesung’s hand. The concern and regret in Lee Hyuk’s gaze were evident.

“But honestly, I really don’t want to leave,” Lee Hyuk confessed.
“You’re not going far, are you?” Hyesung teased.
“True, but I still want to be with you all the time. I shouldn’t have accepted your resignation in the first place.”
Hyesung’s lips trembled slightly at the mention of his resignation.
At that moment, a nurse entered the room, and Lee Hyuk turned to leave.
“Take care. Let me know if anything feels off,” he said.
Hyesung watched Lee Hyuk leave, feeling a strange emptiness. It wasn’t until the nurse started speaking to him that he snapped back to reality, the last look Lee Hyuk gave him lingering in his mind.
Visiting the Jail
As soon as Lee Hyuk stepped out of the hospital, his driver greeted him, with Secretary Yoo by his side, who quickly took Lee Hyuk's belongings.
“Shall I take you directly to the office?” Secretary Yoo asked.
“No,” Lee Hyuk replied, shaking his head.
“Take me to the detention center.”
Secretary Yoo, anticipating this, silently nodded, and the car smoothly headed to its new destination.
Once they arrived, Lee Hyuk, familiar with the process, filled out the visitor’s form and followed the staff. The hallway, lined with identical doors at regular intervals, resembled a long, sterile corridor in an apartment complex, except for the numbers on the doors and the small barred windows at the bottom.
“The warden informed us of your visit. You can go in, but please don’t stay too long,” the guard advised.
Lee Hyuk nodded, understanding that while his visit was granted more leniency, he couldn’t overstay.
As he entered the private room, he came face to face with Jung Sejin, who greeted him with a sarcastic smile. His once neatly styled hair was disheveled, and instead of his usual crisp suit, he wore the standard prison uniform.
“Must have cost you a pretty penny to get this,” Jung Sejin remarked, glancing around the room.
“Isn’t that something you’re quite familiar with? Trying to buy everything with money,” Lee Hyuk retorted, sitting across from him. Their eyes locked in a silent battle.
“How’s your health? You look surprisingly well for someone who was on the brink of death. Should’ve made sure they finished the job,” Jung Sejin sneered.
“Funny how you managed to hide your true nature for so long,” Lee Hyuk replied, his voice cold and emotionless.
Jung Sejin’s face twisted with frustration. He had expected to provoke Lee Hyuk, but instead, he was met with an impassive stare that seemed to pierce through him.
“Are you nervous?” Lee Hyuk asked, noticing Jung Sejin’s growing unease.
“You’re wrong if you think you can keep me here forever. Daehyun is my father’s company; he won’t leave me here to rot,” Jung Sejin spat, his voice laced with desperation.
“Do you really think Daehyun’s chairman will risk everything to save a son who’s committed such heinous crimes? The man’s too much of a coward,” Lee Hyuk said, watching as Jung Sejin’s anger flared.
Jung Sejin clenched his fists, his whole body trembling with rage. He knew, deep down, that Lee Hyuk was right. His father wasn’t the kind of man to take on such a burden.
“Even without him, I can get out of here,” Jung Sejin muttered, though less confidently.
“You’re betting on Yushin? I’ve heard Park Yul is quite furious with you,” Lee Hyuk countered.
Jung Sejin’s outburst only served to further amuse Lee Hyuk, who remained calm. The tension in the room escalated, with Jung Sejin’s frustration growing by the second.
“Here’s a piece of advice,” Lee Hyuk said, leaning in. “Gangsters never let go of the ones who ruin them, even if it means dragging themselves to hell.”
Jung Sejin paled as Lee Hyuk’s pheromones filled the room, overpowering him. He began to gag, his face contorting in pain.
“You’ll rot in here for the rest of your life. And remember, people do die in prison, even under strict surveillance.”
Jung Sejin, barely able to catch his breath, was reduced to a pitiful state, fluids leaking from his mouth and nose.
“There are plenty of ways to kill you,” Lee Hyuk said calmly, as if discussing the weather.
“Do you really think Hyesung would stand for that?” Jung Sejin attempted to regain some ground.
Lee Hyuk simply laughed. “He won’t even know. I won’t let him see anything so ugly.”
Jung Sejin fell silent, realizing that Lee Hyuk was deadly serious.
“Enjoy your stay,” Lee Hyuk said as he left the room, not sparing a glance back.
Outside, his phone rang. It was Hyesung.
“Yes, Hyesung,” Lee Hyuk answered, his voice suddenly warm and soft, startling the guard beside him with the drastic change in tone.
Did you make it to the office safely?
Lee Hyuk glanced at the detention center behind him. “Yes, I’m at the office now.”
Secretary Yoo, catching on, quickly stepped back to give Lee Hyuk some privacy. The affectionate conversation continued for some time, the hardened CEO completely unrecognizable to those who had just witnessed his cold, threatening demeanor.
