The Dawn of the New World-Chapter 1361 Dreams of Kin
The surroundings were illuminated by the bright green flames of their new body, a mix between the previous physical form that was twisted into something new by the powers of the equine demon.
Grey only had one head left now which was covered in a boney exoskeleton that acted as a natural armor against physical attacks. His mane was made from a green flame that was cold to the touch. The remainder of his body was a milky white color with nothing too special about it.
The Old Witch frowned while looking at him, "Tsk, that's what happens when a greenhorn attempts such a complicated spell," she threw a dirty look in Claudia's direction, "Girlie, why didn't you say from the beginning that it was beyond your abilities? Look what you have done now! The spell wasn't strong enough to bring about their true form!"
Claudia was exhausted and fatigued to the extreme, barely able to stand due to the severe blood loss let alone argue back. But she did not have to defend herself because Hao Xuan quickly stepped in.
He walked over to Grey, [It's fine, I expected as much. Grey was my 'soul bond' and that connection has remained still. I can simply-] and placed a hand on his head.
His entire figure was illuminated with an intense white light and a very small portion of it was poured straight into Grey's body.
[Take it all in, let it change you the way you were meant to be and evolve past your limits]
Grey neighed loudly and jumped back as the green flame of his mane exploded and covered his entire body. He burned continuously for 20 seconds straight while pops and cracks resonated in the surroundings.
The flame slowly receded to reveal the changes to his body. His legs were now almost entirely covered in the same green flame along with the tail. There were serrated bony outgrowths along his back but perhaps the most noticeable change was to his skin.
Instead of being milky white like before it was almost completely translucent. Bands of purple flesh could be seen underneath but if a person looked at it closely they would be able to see various images being reflected on the surface of his hide.
The bone armor on his head appeared to be much more rigid and covered every inch of space.
When he stood tall Grey's height was a bit over 2 meters. He wasn't very big or threatening, in fact, he looked like a piece of art from afar that was a bit too eye-catching.
But it was his abilities and the raw power behind them that Hao Xuan admired. For a couple of seconds he was entranced by the reflections on Grey's skin, which to his eyes, were something completely different.
Even the Old Witch was surprised for a moment and couldn't help but come closer to get a better look.
"Congratulations, seems you had some luck. It is a unique creature that has never existed before and will probably never exist again. Part demon, part mortal beast but neither still," she took in a deep breath through her nose and smacked her lips hungrily, "Yes, I can feel it! It is fueled by the dreams and nightmares of your kin. Look how it wears the fear of its victims on its hide. Yes~ there is great promise in its existence..."
Hao Xuan could feel the greed dripping from her every word.
[Surely you do not covet what is mine]
The Old Witch came to her senses and shook her head wryly, "Covet what is yours? Why would I? When you, its master, are already in the palm of my hands? Hehehe..."
She walked away cackling to herself.
Hao Xuan turned towards Claudia and extended a helping hand, [Can you stand?]
She reached out to grab it but began to hesitate, "I-I'm not worthy. I tried to deceive you-"
[You did what you thought was right. Yes, you made a mistake but I hope you will learn from it and not let it happen again. Had you come to me I would have aided you in whatever way possible...]
Her head hung low and she couldn't even muster up a reply. Hao Xuan chuckled inwardly, [Will you not try and redeem yourself? I am in need of a companion for the journey ahead...if you are willing]
"YES! Y-Yes I am- But will it be okay?" she was worried that she might not be up to the task.
[Yes, it is because I say so. It will be tough and take a very long time, several lifetimes worth in fact. But if you stay true to your words then all will be well, I swear it!]
