Chapter 654: You carry them for months but they end up twinning your husband instead

"Shwa?"

"Waaa..."

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Waaa!"

"Can you influence fate if you really really wish for something?"

"Waaa!"

I laughed and hugged him. How silly; as if a baby could affect the whole universe. Hmm...but Shwa wasn’t exactly your regular baby, was he?

Pulling back, I stared at the round, blinking green eyes. Baby fingers scratching dark hair languidly. A baby. A bit bigger than his peers, but a baby nonetheless.

Still...

I leaned down at the baby lying along my slightly raised thighs and whispered. "Shwa, you want to stay with Papa, right?"

"Waaa!"

"Can you wish very very very strongly at the universe to stay with me and Natha?"

"Waa!"

"Okay, let’s wish very very strongly to have you fully under my and Natha’s custody, okay?"

"Waaah!"

"Mm, mm--what a good boy~"

I buried my face in his stomach and blew raspberries until his laughter filled the balcony we used to sunbathe. I didn’t really know how Shwa’s physique worked since we still couldn’t figure out whether he was physically a human, a demon, or a druid, but...sunlight should be good for any infant, right? Even vampire.

Hmm...Eruha said he liked walking around when the sun was up because he was locked up in D’Ara’s mansion during his childhood--not because he would perish under the sun, but because young vampire couldn’t control their impulse to seek anything with mana and ate them. That ’anything’ included bugs and mana stones.

Vampire children needed strict parental guiding, it seemed.

Oh, where was I?

"Uwaaa!" Shwa smacked my head while laughing, clutching on the hair Natha had carefully braided this morning. That wasn’t a problem--I’d have a justification to ask him to do it again, hehe...

"Anyway, let’s make a strong wish every morning and night, Shwa. Right--like a prayer!"

"Is that a new morning motivation talk?" Natha soundlessly approached us from behind, kissing the top of my head before sitting on the armrest. "Got enough sun?"

"The weather is perfectly nice today," I looked up. The sun wasn’t blazing, and the breeze felt slightly warm as we properly shifted into spring. Ah--I turned toward Natha with a wry smile. "I’m sorry; even though I said all those things about spending our anniversary alone..."

Natha smiled and kissed my forehead again. "It’s not like we only have one wedding anniversary," he said. "And I told you I’m perfectly fine spending it with the fruit of our union."

"Uaa!"

"Kid, why are you trying to compete with me already? You can’t even talk," Natha bopped the tip of the pink nose gently, and Shwa giggled in response as if he knew what Natha was talking about.

Could he really understand it? Hmm...I was curious, but at the same time, I wanted it to remain a mystery.

More than anything, despite the way I asked him to wish the universe, I still wanted him to be a normal kid. Weird, wasn’t it? I couldn’t fathom my mind either.

"Should we have our breakfast here since the weather is nice?" Natha asked while squeezing our son’s cheeks. "Where’s the mole and the kid?"

"It’s a nice morning, so Jade turned into his original form--it’s been such a long time since he turned into one. D’Ara said a release is needed once in a while," I said. "Shiny is experiencing flying."

"Won’t the mole be traumatized?"

"Shiny loves galloping with the horse, so maybe it will like flying too?" I shrugged. "What about you, Shwa? Will Shwa loves flying in the future? Let’s fly with your daddy, okay?"

Natha chuckled and kissed the giggling baby’s temple--as well as my knee--before standing up. "I’ll prepare his second breakfast while they send ours up. Call the kids back so they can eat."

"Yes, Daddy~"

He paused and narrowed his eyes. "That sounded wrong, somehow."

I giggled and waved with Shwa’s hand, before calling Jade back through our soul connection. The rainbow flash swooped down not long after, circling on top of the balcony and making Shwa shriek joyfully. A grey ball jumped off the bird and rolled toward the chair I used, before scurrying and doved behind my dressing gown.

"Pfft--what’s wrong? Are you scared of flying?"

Chii, chii...

"But you also enjoyed it?"

Chii!

I laughed and snapped my fingers to clean up the mole and the bird landing on the armchair. "So you’re the type who’s afraid of ghosts but loves watching horror movies, huh?"

Jade transformed back into a little boy and sat at the armrest where Natha was before, immediately giving me a report. "Papa, Jade bring Shiny to Vrida! We promise to fly with Vrida later!"

"That’s good," I nodded and kissed his cheek instead because both of my hands were being held by the possessive baby. "Tell her I’m sorry, yeah? I’ll fly with her once Shwa no longer cries if I’m away."

"Shwa can’t fly with us?" Jade asked in disappointment.

"Not yet, baby. Once he can, let’s all fly together, okay!"

"Okay!"

"Now go to the nannies and change your clothes before your breakfast comes."

"Jelly!"

With a joyful shout, Jade grabbed Shiny and ran out of the balcony. How nice it was to have obedient children. I looked at Shwa and moved his position--taking him in my arms again rather than laying him on my legs--before shifting my gaze to the side.

"You can come out now, Heraz."

A soft shuffling sound later, the cloaked figure kneeled in front of me. "Forgive me for being late, Young Master."

"No, no--it’s a long way, anyway."

"We should have..." despite looking down, I could feel Heraz’s increasing emotion, as if he was angry. "We should have blocked the information from spreading in the first place, Young Master. Forgive me."

I tilted my head slightly, wondering why his reaction was stronger than me. "Did Natha scold you last night?"

"...no, Young Master."

He sounded somewhat dazed, belatedly realizing that Natha didn’t sound pissed at all despite my identity getting leaked accidentally. The cloaked head even tilted slightly in confusion.

I looked at Shwa and giggled silently. Of course, Natha wouldn’t get angry. He was so happy about me spending more time here during our anniversary month.

"Well...it’s my fault, anyway."

"No, Young Master. That--"

"You’re just unlucky," Natha, again, coming in soundlessly.

"My Lord," Heraz bowed even deeper, back to getting tense again.

I took the small, warm bottle from his hand and swayed it in front of Shwa, who was jerking his arms trying to reach it. "What? You already want to drink it by yourself?" I chuckled. "Anyway, my luck must have been spent to find the first six relics."

"Still..."

Was this guilt a display of loyalty, or was he just feeling dreadful of Natha’s possible wrath? Well...I did feel a bit panicky last night, but after a good night’s sleep, I managed to calm down and see things from a brighter side.

Of course, the notion of spending more time with my husband and children helped a lot.

"It was impossible for me to not use Alveitya, since I’d rather save my mana for emergencies," I patted my left arm--which was tucked behind Shwa’s head. A certain spear had been feeling sullen since last night. "And it was even more impossible to watch over everyone who had seen Alveitya in the past. No matter how extensive your network is, you can’t possibly watch over every flow of information in a foreign realm."

Heraz’s head was still bowed, but his body was less tense. I glanced at Natha--the real boss--and shot him a meaningful look. He chuckled and added then. "Well, I have to admit that I also didn’t see this coming," he said. "I thought they were already given up and were too busy with the war to care."

As I thought, the tension escaped the shapeshifter even more. Perhaps he was finally convinced that Natha wasn’t just holding back his fury, but truly didn’t get angry.

"Now that I thought about it, maybe the war is what made them even more desperate about the spear," Natha added. "Perhaps they foolishly thought the Sacred Spear that managed to wound Wrath before would be able to kill the new Wrath. They would see it as an effort to raise the citizens’ and soldiers’ morale."

"Because they can make a new Hero?" I raised my brow.

"Yeah," Natha smirked. "They would probably stick the spear with one of the Hero’s old companions or the princess." frёewebηovel.cѳm

I unconsciously scoffed and my left arm was vibrating hatefully. It was clear that Alveitya hated all of those people. Even if it didn’t find Valmeier, I didn’t think Alveitya would want to be held by any of them. The Hero, maybe, but definitely not any of those trashes.

Natha chuckled and stroked my head in response. "Anyway, it’s a good thing if it can divide the church’s attention and resources even more."

Oh! I hadn’t thought about it that far!

"Have you done something about the information?" Natha asked.

"I had gotten rid of the mercenaries who reported the sighting," Heraz reported. "At the very least, he won’t be able to identify Young Master personally."

"Hmm...should we play this out, instead?" Natha stroked his chin, and the silver eyes that twinkled deeply reminded me of Shwa’s eyes last night.

I glanced at the baby who was busy sucking on the milk bottle. You two really were twins, huh?
