The Demon Lord's Bride (BL)-Chapter 658: Babies are not that easy to deceive
Chapter 658: Babies are not that easy to deceive
"Uaaaaaa! Waaaaaah! Waaaa!"
Only slightly after three hours, my son’s loud cry spread through the Lord’s quarters like an alarm for dinner. I rushed out of the bedroom with wet hair and nothing but a bathrobe covering my body.
What a timing, my son.
"I’m here!" I went straight to the bassinet, where my baby was trashing around and throwing my blanket in a tantrum. "I’m here, baby!"
Ah, at this point, I had no idea whether I should laugh or cry. Shwa cried as hard as he did when I just returned, and the green eyes were looking at me full of betrayal.
This time, I didn’t even need Natha to translate things for me. "Pfft--do you think I was trying to deceive you?" I patted the wailing baby and swayed him in my arms. "I just wanted you to feel me while you were sleeping, baby. Look, I’m still here, ain’t I?"
"Waaaaah! Waaaah!"
Haa...yes, yes--you may scold me all you want. I heard crying was healthy for a baby anyway. I took a seat there and looked at the nannies hopelessly, who were laughing in understanding.
"At this point, it’s like we have no work anymore, Young Master."
"It’s because the Little Master really loves his papa."
Uhh, yeah...fine. Do what you want since you love me so much, baby.
Even Angwi smiled in amusement while taking a towel to help me dry my hair as I tried to calm my angry baby. The green eyes were squinting hard and those strong tiny fists were clutching the sleeve of my bathrobe, as if telling me this patting hand should never stop.
Haa...so cute.
"Shwa...cry again?" Jade sauntered into the nursery sleepily, plopping on my knees before sliding down my legs.
"Oh, did he wake you from your nape, Jade?"
"Ung..."
Unfortunately, I wasn’t big enough to have him on my lap while I was holding Shwa, so Jade hadn’t been able to cling to me at all after getting back. But fortunately, I wasn’t a single father.
"I don’t think we can use the blanket trick again," Natha chuckled while picking up Jade and holding the little boy in his arms. Jade had become even more accustomed to Natha now that I couldn’t hold him, even comfortably laying his head on Natha’s shoulder.
As long as they weren’t competing for something silly like my attention, that is.
"Where’s the mole?" Natha asked while taking a warm towel from the nanny and using it to wipe the little boy’s sleepy face.
Oh, right. Shiny was usually following Jade around, but the mole was not in sight. It was shy, so I didn’t think Shiny would go around the castle by itself.
"Jade awake!" the little boy gasped. "Oh, and Shiny is sad! Shiny miss dark ground!"
"Ah, I guess Shiny is a mole, after all..." I let out a sigh. We were never supposed to stay this long anyway, so Shiny was probably reaching its limit. "Honestly, I also think it would be better for Shiny to be with the other group. Between Shiny and Ignis, Shiny is better at looking for a path."
"Hmm...let’s talk about it later after you get dressed," Natha reached out to help me stand, reminding me that I was only still in my bathrobe.
Thankfully, wrapped in my blanket again, Shwa was willing to let me go as long as he could still feel my mana and hear my voice nearby. Hearing his sobs and stuttered breath, I just grabbed the simplest tunic and wore it quickly before rushing back to the bedroom, where my smart baby was staring at the dressing room’s door with a sharp gaze in Natha’s arms.
Twinning.
"Jade bring Shiny!"
The no longer sleepy boy raised the sullen mole in his hand, dropping it on the couch. Shiny crawled listlessly to my side and I patted his head apologetically. "I’m sorry, Shiny. I brought you all the way here and I didn’t even pay attention to you."
Chii...
"You understand? What a good mole. Do you want to go back?"
Chii!
"You miss Big Stone Stan? Want to go explore underground structures again?"
Chii! Chii...
"Yeah, I know..." I sighed and patted the mole, glancing at a pair of watchful green eyes. "But I can’t teleport over right now, Shiny."
Not without making this baby scream his lungs out and cry until his tearsucts dried up. Just imagining his miserable expression, no matter how cute it was, made my heart break into pieces.
"I also don’t feel good about leaving them to do the work without sending more money and provisions," I chewed the inside of my cheek. While I knew Zarfa had enough money to support the group, I was still the original sponsor. "Haa...I should have sent them along with Heraz."
Unfortunately, I was too much in panic and worrying about getting found out to think about all that. But it was too late now, and I couldn’t just call Heraz back to act like a courier when he had much more important things to do.
"Nguuuh! Waaah!"
In the middle of my dilemma, my son protested again because I didn’t hold him right away after finishing dressing. Natha laughed and handed over Shwa to me, along with a solution.
"I can go for you."
"...huh?" I looked up and stared at Natha blankly until Shwa smacked my chin. I patted the jealous baby, but still looked at Natha nonetheless. "You mean...you’ll go to the Human Realm instead?"
Natha chuckled and patted my head. "It’s not my first time," he smirked. "If it’s only returning the mole and giving them more stuff, I can do that much."
Oh...that’s right! Why didn’t I think about sending someone else? Perhaps I had been wrapped up in the idea that I was the only human here. "But...would it be alright for you to do that? I mean, with your work and everything..."
"Do I have to go more than an hour for such an errand?" Natha shrugged. "I have more concern about the mana usage than work--feels like I’ll need some recovery potions for the journey."
"Uhh...I’m sorry..."
"Let’s just wait until they start going around again. Right now, Heraz should still be in the process of creating those fake leads," Natha said while flicking my nose. "I’ll tell Dhuarta to prepare the provision while we wait."
I sighed and craned my neck to peck his cheek lightly, which made Shwa protest again. His yells were like crying out ’Pay attention to me!’ and it felt like those early days when Natha and Jade liked to bicker. Seemed like this little guy started early.
With a laugh, I held Shwa tightly and showered him with kisses until the pouting face turned bright with laughter. Natha scoffed and squeezed the plump cheeks, before kissing our son precisely where I did earlier, as if covering it.
Pfft--what a silly father. Shwa was laughing heartily, though, pulling on Natha’s hair as the demon nuzzled his face. Perhaps Shwa just wanted attention no matter what. And speaking about attention...
"Jade also!"
The little boy who loved attention the most jumped into the fray and gave Shwa another rain of kisses--this time randomly. It must have felt like tickles because Shwa was letting out shriek-like laughter and moved his limbs energetically--meaning I was getting kicked and punched by my baby in the process.
Oh, who cares? Laughter came easily during such a happy picture, and I gave Jade some kisses too as praise.
It was such a nice atmosphere that even the sullen Shiny brightened up a bit--or perhaps because I told the mole that it would be able to return soon. Anyway, we made a call through Ignis--who amazingly could make a shadow flame even from another realm--and Informed the others about how my son prevented me from leaving and that Natha would deliver the provision and Shiny instead.
It took about two days until both Heraz and the hotel manager’s information guild were sure that the search party got baited by the fake leads, and the Hero group decided to continue the ruin exploration. They wouldn’t split their forces, however, because it would be too risky going inside those places with only three people each--especially after our last experience with plundered tailing us. Certainly, I didn’t want Zarfa or Aina to face that kind of people again.
It decreased the speed of progress considerably, but it couldn’t be helped. It was still a progress anyway.
For the first time, I could finally see how the teleportation token worked. Standing in front of me disguised as a human, Natha held my token while the location tracker in the warehouse was moved to the bedroom instead. Had to admit, but...it was hard to concentrate on the process while Natha was wearing a mercenary guise with my first love appearance.
Oh, the kind of heaven this world could provide for this humble me.
"See you soon," he curled his lips in satisfaction at my bashful reaction while pouring his mana into the token in his hand, holding Shiny tightly in the other.
The token let out a light glow that wrapped Natha and Shiny quickly, turning them into light particles that got absorbed into the location token. For five minutes, it kept on vibrating and glowing, which I guessed meant he was still on his way.
Hmm...so that was how Zarfa always knew I would teleport, and promptly put the token in the middle of the room.
With Shwa in my arms, we waited for Natha in the bedroom while Jade told us some folktales he heard from the children of the Templars.
We waited for around an hour and twenty minutes before the token vibrated again. Honestly, it was longer than I expected, but I reckoned Natha talked with Heraz too on the other aide. After five minutes, the human mercenary Nathan was in front of me again, but he had a strange glint in his grey eyes that made me unable to greet him.
Umm...what happened?
"Sweetheart," he smiled; the kind that made me shudder. Not in a good way. "Why didn’t you tell me that one of them wanted to do stuff to you?"
Huh? Oh... free𝑤ebnovel.com
Oh, crap.
