The Demon Lord's Bride (BL)-Chapter 724: We can have all kinds of fun with a baby
Chapter 724: We can have all kinds of fun with a baby
"Waah!"
I went home because I missed my son, and I was getting scolded by a baby in return. He did not cry, fortunately, but he had shifted to scowling and growling. Even without Natha interpreting his thoughts, I knew Shwa was upset.
I held him and the only thing this baby did was stare at me with a scowl. "I know, baby...I’m sorry," I sighed and stroked his head in an effort to appease him.
What I got was a smack on my chin.
"Waah! Ahh!"
I did say I was happy he seemed to grow up bigger and faster than human babies, but not anymore. It also came with stronger hand strength that I felt a three-month-old shouldn’t have yet.
"Yes, yes..." I just let him smack me as a peace offering. "I know I already promised you not to go away too often, but I have to do this one, okay?"
"Guuh! Agah!"
This time, he gripped my hair tightly. Ever heard about how a baby’s grip was the strongest in the world? Yeah...I could vouch for that.
"B-but, Papa didn’t even away for twenty-four hours, right?" I argued. Tell me why I tried to defend myself in front of a baby.
"Nguhh!"
Because he was a smart, menacing mini version of his imposing Daddy.
"Uhh...yeah, I wasn’t there when you woke up, but..."
"Awah! Waaah!" more smacking came my way, as if Shwa could no longer believe my bullshit. He looked so frustrated and annoyed that I couldn’t help but think about wanting to see this expression on his daddy’s face.
Fortunately, his daddy came to the rescue, holding his tiny merciless hands so my chin and cheeks wouldn’t get even redder.
"Okay, okay--I’m sorry! I won’t do it again, baby, okay?" I looked at his squinting eyes, already glazed and ready to cry. "Next time, I’ll bring you along with me--how about that?"
"Waah?" the round green eyes blinked, no longer frowning and scowling. "Mwaah!"
"Okay?" I stroked his dark hair, rubbing our noses together. "You’re not angry anymore, right?"
"Mwaah!"
I grinned and turned my head to the side. "If you’re not angry anymore, you have to kiss Papa."
I brought my baby closer to my cheek, and he chomped on it. Pfft--well, it wasn’t like a baby could purse their lips already--unless it was to drink milk.
"Aaah~ my baby is the best!" I hugged him tightly, my sweet baby. Shwa finally giggled and used his tiny hands to hug me instead of smacking me.
"What about me?" Natha leaned down, which made me think that Jade would ask the same thing if the bird-boy was awake.
I laughed and gave him a kiss on the lips--before Shea smacked Natha’s cheek in protest. As revenge, Natha squeezed his mini version’s cheeks and peppered kisses everywhere on Shwa’s face until the baby giggled again.
"My babies are the best," I kissed Natha again--on the cheeks this time--before leaning back on our couch, sighing. "Haa...we can rest a bit, for now, right?"
"For about three days, yes."
I took a deep breath, feeling both nervous and impatient. "Three days..."
Three days until Shwa’s hundredth day. Three days until we had a custody battle over him with the Demon God.
"We’ll have a fitting within these three days," Natha said while crouching in front of us, playing with our son’s feet.
"Huh? For what?"
"You were the one who said it, sweetheart," Natha looked up and winked. "Battle dresses."
Ooh! I widened my eyes and straightened my back. While I thought I already had enough attire to fill a clothing store, I would never decline something made specifically for a hard battle.
"And we need to have one for Shwa, right?" Natha continued, tickling the chubby stomach. "He will also march to the battleground."
"Waah!" Shwa waved his hands in excitement. Whether he understood it or not, our son knew it was something we look forward to.
And matching outfits for all of us! Oh, how wonderful! We hadn’t had matching outfits ever since Shwa’s naming ceremony. By the look of it, our son seemed to be excited about it too.
"Oh-ho, aren’t you full of spirit?" I pinched the pink, chubby cheeks, and Shwa replied with a nice, energetic shriek.
"Guwaah!"
"Oh, his babbles are increasing!" I gasped and nuzzled his cheek. "What a smart baby! Who’s the smart baby, huh? Who’s the smart baby~"
Shwa giggled and we tickled him until he laughed and shrieked so loudly that Jade woke up from his nap because of the sound. And because he was hungry. It was just in time too, because Arta came with her entourage and four different clothes racks.
"Finally!" she threw her arms around and twirled in the drawing room with Jade. "Finally I can make something other than regular baby clothes!"
Wow...look at her unbridled joy for a tight work; she must have loved doing this more than anything. At this point, shouldn’t she become an official dresser or something, instead of taking care of the castle’s logistics?
"We make clothes again?" Jade jumped around the clothes racks excitedly while Shiny followed him around.
"No, no--we already made it," Arta fished out a hand fan, fanning herself proudly. "All we need to do is decide which one to be fitted on."
"Arta, Arta--what about Shiny?" Jade looked up with sparkling eyes while holding the mole.
"Shiny?" Arta tilted her head. "Oh! You changed color! Wait--are you contracted to young master now?"
Chii!
"Okay, okay--what about some kind of vest? Or would you like a cape?"
Chii! Chii!
Wow...she was taking this seriously, huh? Looked at those clothes just waiting to be finished. Did she just make all of these because she was bored or something? But she also made me those comfortable adventuring clothes, so...
She didn’t shirk her real job, right?
"It’s her de-stressing, actually," Natha chuckled, telling me in a whisper. "Once I retire, she’ll probably open a clothing shop."
"More like a shopping mall, I think..." I paused, realizing something. "Is that why you put her in logistics?"
Natha just smiled in response. Oh, my husband just thought of everything, didn’t he? Anyway, we had been talking about retirement a lot lately...I wondered if he really wanted to retire, or if he was preparing his people in case the meeting with the Demon God fell through and we had to live in hiding.
"Don’t think of useless things on a happy occasion," Natha whispered while stroking my cheek, returning my mind to what happened in front of us.
Jade was happily choosing which style and color we would take to the Sanctuary, while Arta and the seamstresses explained to him the characteristics and symbolism of each attire; each color and embroidery.
How fascinating. How nice.
"You’re right," I smiled, hugging my curious baby slightly tighter. "Let’s just have fun!"
If it were to be our last, then we’d better make it a great last.
"Mm...Jade like this, but also this--and this! Oh...Jade so confusion..."
I laughed and stood up, bringing Shwa toward the discussion board. "Should we let Shwa choose?"
"Hwaah?"
"Oh--what a good idea!" Arta clapped excitedly. "Let’s let him choose between the three that Sir Jade selected; how about that?"
"Yes! Yes!"
"Let’s get the cloth strips for these three!"
With that, we suddenly had a color Olympic with Shwa having a tummy time on the fluffy blanket we put on the table. In front of him were three cloth strips of different colors and fabrics, all was within his reach with a bit of stretching.
Did I also use it for his exercise? Yes, yes I did.
But it wasn’t Arta if she didn’t go overboard. She called the vassals to have a bet, and then called Izzi to record all of the proceedings. Contrary to my experience, everyone was actually very excited about it--even Malta, who I thought was narrowing her eyes in disapproval, was actually analyzing stuff like a baby’s reach and Shwa’s most used color to predict his choice.
And when it started...let’s just say I finally understood how it felt to be a part of a sports event’s audience. Oh, the way they screamed and shouted and coaxed a three-month-old baby to choose what they had betted on.
Fortunately, whatever the outcome, it would come out nice anyway. But honestly...it was also fun. I didn’t have to go through choosing stuff that I had no idea would make a difference at all. And the way Caba, Malta, and Lesta cheered when Shwa grabbed the dark green fabric.
"Awaah!"
"I knew it!" the bald hound punched the air triumphantly. "I knew Little Master would choose something that resembles Young Master’s eyes!"
Was that why? Not because the dark green one was on the left side and Shwa used his left hand?
"This is not the end!" Arta raised her arms. "Next! We’ll decide on the thread for the embroidery!"
Huh? I thought the clothes were already embroidered? I looked at Natha as the bet was commencing once more, but he just shrugged in response. "You brought this yourself."
Ugh...I guess?
Thankfully, Shwa didn’t look uncomfortable being surrounded by the vassals and the seamstresses. Even Mara and Panne joined the betting pool, and don’t get me started on Zia. Jade and Shiny had no idea what betting was, but they cheered up Shwa all the same.
After the threads, it was sash. And then accessories. And then cords. And then...
"Waah!"
Shwa was finally fed up and crawled forward on his tummy to scatter all the stuff. All of us stood in silence, staring at the annoyed baby wordlessly for a few seconds, before erupting in cheer.
I scooped up my baby and held him high in the air. "You move! You crawl on your tummy! My genius baby!"
Oh, what fun.
