The disciples were finally recovering from crossing the wall’s barrier.

“Hey, why didn’t the elders try to protect us? To think they would just stand by and let this happen.”

“Fool! What are you saying? This is a barrier that even affects them, it's not something that anyone can avoid.”

“So what? They could have at least tried.”

Upon hearing this, a few disciples turned and looked at this person with disgusted expressions.

Disciples like these were hated the most.

The somewhat chubby disciple squirmed uncomfortably under everyone's gazes. He didn’t understand what was so wrong with what he said, aren’t the elders here to protect them?

A few disciples shook their heads. Some wore helpless and disappointing expressions while others just continue to glare with disgusted looks on their faces.

Despite being called the number one Academy on the Maple Continent, they were not without useless disciples like these.

“In the future, how would you handle the pain if you always get protected now?”

That chubby disciple stared blankly at that person before saying.

“Why would I ever want to come back here again? I’m not going to be stupid enough to willingly go through that pain once more. I'm already dreading passing through on our way back.”

The chubby disciple waved his hands as he said that. His words immediately caused the disgusted looks directed at him to become even stronger.

The disciple who asked the chubby disciple that question seemed to realize he was trying to teach human philosophy to a cow and decided to just completely ignore him.

People like that weren’t going to go anywhere in the cultivation world.

Then Hao Yu spoke up.

“It's people like you that made the Borderners look down on us Mainlanders.”

It was the first time some disciples had heard of these terms before so questions immediately flew towards Hao Yu about what he meant.

“Borderners refer to the people who live here at the Borders of the Continent.”

“People actually chose to live in this place?”

A disciple exclaimed.

This place was said to be prone to having massive beast waves every year, it was extremely dangerous because of that.

Hao Yu nodded.

“Just look, here it comes.”

Hao Yu pointed at the horizon, and the faint silhouettes of skyscrapers could be seen. And shockingly, there was another wall!

Even though it looked smaller, all the disciples still shudder in horror.

“Don’t worry, this wall is mainly used for registration. This place has ranking boards that display the number of beasts killed in real-time. After registering it also records the number of beasts you killed as well. This ranking board is on the other side of the wall, it was said that it was placed there so the sea beasts could see how many of them we have slaughtered.”

Everyone upon hearing this explanation felt something start to raise in their hearts.

“This place isn’t for the weak-hearted. If you think it's dangerous living in the cultivation world back on the Mainland then living in this place would be akin to hell for you.”

That feeling in the disciples' hearts grew but Hao Yu only continued.

“Because of the environment of this place, we Mainlanders can’t compare to these people who live to wake up and battle every day. Mainlanders are also looked down upon by Borderners because they see us as nothing but a herd of sheep to be protected while they sacrifice their lives in the process. And it's the truth, so even if they insult you when you get there you can’t refute it.”

Like a final nail in the coffin, that feeling seemed to drown the disciple. That feeling had a word to describe it.

Worthlessness.

This was like a wake-up call to their current situation. These disciples could only cultivate in peace without fearing an invasion from the Sea Beasts because of this wall and the Borderners on the front lines.

You could say this left a bitter taste in their mouths.

A deathly silence hung over the entire crowd of disciples. The few that looked unaffected were the people like Hao Yu who had been here before and experienced this feeling already.

It was enough to rattle their Dao Hearts then, but they had overcome it. Now they were observing their fellow disciples that were facing the same thing they once had.

Whether or not they could come to terms with this reality was up to them.

“Brother Hao Yu, are there any geniuses from this place?”

A disciple asked, and Hao Yu nodded.

“Several monster-level geniuses at the very least being born in this environment, where life and death are tested almost every day, should be obvious. But you should know one thing as well. Since no mention of any genius from the border is on the Chosen Rankings, it could be seen that they don’t want to be associated with us Mainlanders. They have their own rankings, but it isn’t like ours. They rank people based on the number of beasts they killed. When you all reach there you’ll see for yourselves. But be warned, when you arrive keep your head low and simply head for the Mercenary Association's ship that’s going to carry us to the Star Bound Continent. Also, avoid mentioning or coming into contact with anyone on the rankings. Especially the top three.”

Hearing Hao Yu’s warning and seeing how solemn his face became, more than a few disciples gulped down a lump of saliva.

However, an arrogant-looking youth snorted before turning to Hao Yu and asking.

“And why is that? For a Celestial Academy disciple of your caliber to be acting like a coward, it's losing face for the entire academy.”

Hao Yu only looked at this disciple with an indifferent expression. He thought back on how he acted when he first came here and he wasn’t any different from this person now. He didn’t want to admit that he was any inferior to these people, but reality quickly slapped him in the face.

It just wasn’t worth it to try and pick a fight on someone's home ground.

Hao Yu said nothing to this disciple and only shook his head. Like what had happened to him, if this youth or anyone else hadn’t heeded his warning for a second time, they were going to suffer.

While this conversation between the disciples was taking place, the various elders hadn't said a word.

Hao Yu had said everything that could be said, and if these disciples were to behave arrogantly here like how they would behave on the Mainland, then this experience might be right the best thing for them.

The ship was noticeably moving a lot slower but the disciples didn’t complain. They could actually feel the looming presence of the grand formation in this area.

This grand formation was extremely large and stretched all the way around the continent, with each border being a main node of the formation.

The formation was mostly in effect between the first and second walls. This was also where the Borderners set up housing, albeit closer to the second wall.

Some time passed and the ship had finally reached the city near the second wall. And though it was called a city, it was more like an organized chaotic mess of houses and buildings that were clustered together.

It seemed like the aesthetics of this city weren’t taken into consideration when it was being constructed. Ugly and mismatched couldn’t even begin to describe its horrendous appearance. 𝗳r𝗲𝙚w𝐞𝚋𝘯𝚘ѵ𝗲l.𝑐om

Though something about it gave one the feeling that some kind of monster was slumbering under this city. Its awakening would be immediate if a threat was detected beyond the second wall.

While the ship was landing at the gate of the city, a commotion suddenly occurred on the ship.

“FUCK!! YOU DARE!!”

“If I dare? Why don’t you come at me and see if I dare!!”

Loud shouts and curses could be heard.

A familiar-looking elder had his face turned grim. Just when they reached the Southern Border, these fools decided to start bickering?

‘If I don’t make them suffer then I-’

This familiar-looking elder had risen up into the air and flown over to where the commotion was coming from, but his thoughts and body froze when he realized it was Fuangu and Mao Wen.

The elder's face changed slightly and without so much as a pause, his body did a complete 180 in the air and flew back to where he was coming from.

A few disciples saw that an elder was approaching to break up this annoying fight, but seeing that the elder took one look at the two arguing parties and immediately bailed, the disciples all clamored for him to return.

The elder who turned out to be the same elder who had stopped Fuangu and Mao Wen previously, acted like he hadn’t heard the disciples’ pleas and quickly left the scene.

He would rather die of Qi Deviation than be the one involved with those ridiculous groups again.

Seeing that no elder was coming to break up this ludicrous argument, the disciples could only tolerate the two group's nonsense.

“Fuangu come at me! So what if you were the first group to go without shoes, do you think you have a right to ban other groups from doing the same?! What, are you going to tell off every homeless person who isn’t wearing shoes?!”

“Mao Wen, you fully know that what you’re saying is bull! You just won’t admit that your Faceless Hero is a member of the Shoeless Faction, why else would he not be wearing any shoes!!”

What the two of you are saying is bull!

The disciples in the surroundings all thought as they hurried to leave the ship and the two groups behind as fast as they could.
