Loud cheering rang out in the battle arena as Cheng Li attacked Fei Yin with his Daoist Magic spell.

Fei Yin didn’t hesitate to weave hand signs and call upon his Internal Qi. He cast a Daoist Magic spell that conjure numerous three-meter thick green vines to block Cheng Li’s terrifying barrage of needles, which terrifying enough seemed capable of piercing the void as they approached him.

BOOM

Cheng Li’s needles impacted Fei Yin’s walls of vines and an ear-shattering sound echoed out in the battle arena as a result.

Fei Yin’s walls of vines easily withstood the first bombardment of Cheng Li’s needles, but as they continued seeming to be endless, Fei Yin’s vines started to get torn apart.

The cheers from the crowd got louder upon seeing Cheng Li overwhelming Fei Yin as soon as the match started.

“This is the Tier 1 Daoist Magic Spell Void Piercing Needle from the Shadow Bound Battalion. It was created to use by Sea Expansion and Foundation Realm cultivators in the Shadow Bound Battalion for surprise attacks against Sea Beast. However, in senior brother Cheng’s hands it transformed into a frontal attack with the strength of a Tier 3 spell!”

“Of course, this isn’t something difficult for brother Cheng! For improving the various Battalions formations instead of being compensated normally, brother Cheng only took their lowest-grade techniques and Daoist Magic spells and create stronger versions of them!”

“Brother Cheng is awesome!!”

Cheng Li flipped open his fan, causing his wide grin to be hidden.

“Is this all you’ve got? The match has barely started and you’re already losing to me.”

Cheng Li’s taunting words drifted over to Fei Yin and he become even more irked by Cheng Li’s pompous and nonchalant attitude.

However, Fei Yin kept his calm and formed a hand seal with his other hand. Using his Qi Domain he gathered the Wood Qi in the surroundings to boost his spell.

The walls of vines that were being torn apart by Cheng Li’s needles recovered and started to increase in density, eventually turning into a large protective ball that covered him. The vines then twisted and turn as they went on the offensive.

“Oh? You have an abnormal abundance of Internal Spiritual Energy. Are you really in the early Core Formation Realm?”

As Cheng Li casually spoke he swiftly dodged the vines whipping towards his face.

SNAP

The vines were like whips as they crack the air, destroying Cheng Li’s afterimages.

SNAP

SNAP

SNAP

The vines cracked the air as they continuously attacked Cheng Li.

SNAP

Suddenly, Cheng Li’s expression changed as the vines’ speed increased. One had almost managed to take his head off if he hadn’t awkwardly bent his back dodge.

Turning to where he was still making his needles attacking Fei Yin, Cheng Li mumbled.

“How are the vines attacking so precisely? They’re reading my movements and attacking in coordination. It’s as if each of them has a mind of their own. Wait no, it's as if someone is manipulating them with such precision. Don’t tell me…”

Cheng Li’s figure moved, and at the same time, a vine crack the air destroying his afterimage.

Cheng Li weaved through the numerous vines that were now covering the stage. The ones he couldn’t dodge were destroyed by his needles. Soon enough, Cheng Li came to where Fei Yin was being bombarded by his needles.

He leaped onto the ball created out of vines and peered into it. Instantly his face contorted into an ugly expression.

“Well, aren’t you relaxed?”

Cheng Li said as he looked at Fei Yin who was comfortably sitting cross-legged with closed eyes.

‘No wonder the vines were attacking me like they have been doing, this bastard was here controlling them.’

As soon as Cheng Li spoke the ball of vine unraveled and shot towards him.

Cheng Li immediately leaped back in retreat. 𝙛𝘳𝒆𝒆𝒘e𝗯n𝗼𝘷𝚎𝚕.𝒄૦𝓶

“Were you waiting for me?”

Cheng Li waved his fan and the vines were severed into pieces.

However, Cheng Li looked behind him to see that vines had blocked his path of retreat. From below as well, there were vines blocking him on all sides.

All his exits were cut off and he had no way out of the trap laid for him.

“I thought I was the one trapping you, but it was actually the other way around, haha!”

Fei Yin opened his eyes before standing up. With a tranquil expression, he raised his hand and clasped it towards Cheng Li in the air.

The vines blocking Cheng Li’s retreat quickly went to encapsulate his figure.

Strangely, Cheng Li didn’t make a move to fight back.

Before he was fully encapsulated, he simply stared at the calmed-faced Fei Yin and said.

“What? Don’t tell me you think you’ve won. The match has just started, I haven’t had my fun yet.”

Within an instant, Fei Yin’s vines wrapped around Cheng Li and formed a ball.

The crowd seeing that Fei Yin had successfully trapped Cheng Li all began to boo loudly, and cries for Cheng Li to pummel Fei Yin echoed out.

Fei Yin’s vines didn’t stop and the size of the ball continued to increase, however, an overwhelming amount of Metal Qi suddenly burst from inside, forcefully destroying the ball of vines.

Cheng Li’s figure flew backward in retreat, but the whole stage was already covered in Fei Yin’s vines so Cheng Li was quickly trapped once again.

This situation occurred several times before Cheng Li suddenly flew into the air.

Looking down at Fei Yin in slightly torn and disheveled clothes he said with a frown.

“I allowed you to successfully trap me because I was really curious how deep our Qi reserves run. But this is not what I was imagining.”

Cheng Li then looked up to see more vines surrounding him. This time they were covered in skin-tearing spikes.

Upon seeing Cheng Li being trapped once again, the crowd no longer booed Fei Yin. They were instead staring at him in stupefaction.

“What the hell is wrong with that guy? Doesn’t he run out of Spiritual Energy?”

“My thoughts exactly, what a fricking monster he must be to have so much Qi to use. He could even give someone in the late-stage of the Core Formation Realm a run for their money.”

Talks of Fei Yin’s abnormal amount of Qi began to be discussed among the audience in the battle arena. It was a first for them to see someone like Fei Yin.

“If it’s like this and that Qi freak continues to play war of attrition, would senior brother Cheng lose?”

“Not necessarily, you’re forgetting one crucial fact pertaining to the relationship between the Six Natural Elements.”

On the stage, Fei Yin had his palms clasped together as he forcefully trap Cheng Li. However, his senses picked up on something and he moved back.

The spiky ball of vines around Cheng Li bursted apart once again. The void around him trembled as he let out his aura unrestrained.

“I wanted to see your limits but you seemed to have none. However, even with your abundance of Qi, it’s Wood-type Spiritual Qi. Against most cultivators of the same realm, you would be at an advantage by overwhelming them, but it doesn’t work against me. My Metal-type Spiritual Qi is a direct counter to your Wood-type Qi.”

Cheng Li smirked.

“This just goes to show you that I’m fundamentally better than you.”

Fei Yin frowned.

“Even now you're still boasting. Is there a reason for you to be constantly acting so frivolously about everything?”

Hearing that, Cheng Li smiled, but this smile seemed a bit different from the others.

“Even if I told you, you wouldn’t understand. We’re walking down two opposing paths of an extreme you and I.”

“…What do you mean by that?”

Cheng Li didn’t respond, his expression returned to normal.

The void around him then began to tremble harder as he raised his palm.

The Metal Qi in the surroundings gathered above his palm to form a small needle.

The appearance of this needle made Fei Yin's sense of danger peak.

“I haven’t had my fun just yet, so do your best not to die. I have only ever used spells like these on Sea Beasts, I don’t know how to adjust its strength in a spar with a human.”

Upon saying that, Cheng Li’s hand that was holding his fan formed a seal and the small needle immediately shot towards Fei Yin.

Fei Yin’s scalp went numb upon facing this attack. He didn’t relax and his body tensed as he summon all the Elemental Wood Qi in his dantian and his Qi Domain to block this attack.

Several tens of meters of the stage was instantly covered in thick green-green vines, that actually began to pulsate with vigorous life energy. Seeing these vines that would need several adult men to fully wrap around them, the people in the crowd gulped.

The pure life energy radiating from one of these vines made them seem like they were treasures of heaven and earth. It shock them that someone could create something like this.

However, despite Fei Yin’s efforts, the penetrating power of this small needle was extremely terrifying.

As it flew through the air, it seemed as if it was going to pierce the void itself.

It easily tore through Fei Yin’s thick vines like paper and headed on a full course to pierce the space between his brows.

Seeing the precious vines being destroyed, a few people in the audience actually felt that this was too much. Cheng Li was going too far!

At least leave a few and throw them into the crowd. Concocting a Life Enhancing pill from a few of them could probably increase a cultivator's life span by quite a bit. Even a pill that could save one’s life on the brink of death could be concocted.

To them who were constantly battling Sea Beasts, it was such a waste!

However, the crowd immediately snapped back to reality. To show how terrifying this attack by Cheng Li actually was, even the people in the seats that were hundreds of meters away felt as if the needle was going to embed itself in their foreheads.

Fei Yin stared at the needle bearing down on him, and he didn’t hesitate to reach for his sword hilt.

BANG

The stage itself shook violently and a shockwave so violently it reach the stands was produced. A few cries of panic were heard from the mortified audience.

Seeing the power of the attack, Ji Niu frowned and said.

“You pervert! What if you accidentally kill him?! How would you take responsibility?!”

Hearing Ji Niu's shouts, Cheng Li wanted to curse at her, but hold them back as Ji Mei was present. Instead, he responded.

“I warned him beforehand. Plus, I’m sure with the amount of Wood Element Qi he has he’ll be able to survive this much. Even a cockroach might not be as resilient as him.”

As the audience recovered, they all began to cheer for Cheng Li. Within the midst of this and with most people thinking the match was concluded, safe to say Cheng Li nearly shat his pants upon hearing a voice drift into his ears.

“Who are you calling a cockroach?”

“Eh?”

Cheng Li was floating in the air, and upon hearing the voice he quickly turned around to see Fei Yin slashing down with his sword.

A familiar threat of death loomed over Cheng Li's head, causing his body to instinctively react by moving his fan to block Fei Yin’s sword slash.

"UGH!"

As the sound of metal clashing against metal rang out, Cheng Li let out a groaned, and his figure was seen hurtling down from the sky to impact the stage hard.

The cheers from the crowd abruptly paused, and all eyes quickly came to focus on Fei Yin. Who’s clothes were torn and his body blooded in several places.

Clutching at his shoulder where there was a large gash. Cheng Li moved his gaze from his fan which was severed in two, towards Fei Yin in the air.

“You are a cockroach to only receive that much damage from my attack. Even a late-stage Rank 3 Sea Beast had been gravely wounded by that spell. Was that Sword Intent just now? I guess that sword on your waist wasn’t just for decorations after all.”

Fully standing upright, Cheng Li tossed aside his broken fan and said.

“Well, my Martial Arts is better than my Daoist Magic skills anyways. Let’s continue.”

Looking down at Cheng Li, Fei Yin couldn’t help but comment.

“You’re still acting? Fine, let’s see if you’ll when my sword is resting against your neck.”

Cheng Li smirk, as Fei Yin’s figure in the sky moved towards him.
