Tremble

Tremble

The entire stage shook intensely. Meanwhile, the sky and the earth were all losing their colors.

Above Teng Ye’s palm floated an orb that was the cause of this phenomenon. It was like this orb was replacing the heavens and earth, plunging both into a world of black and white, a colorless world.

These scenes caused Fang Chen's expression to become serious.

“What is that? What’s happening?!”

A Mainlander in the crowd cried out as he looked at his surroundings to see the world losing its colors. Something this unknown happening all of a sudden terrified him. If this was an attack of some sort how could he stop it, the radius of this black-and-white domain had instantly occupied nearly half of the entire battle arena.

“Don’t panic, you aren’t in danger as long as you don’t attack.”

“Wh-What is this?”

“This is one of Teng Ye’s innate abilities from his bloodline, Monochrome World. Not much is known about his Sea Beasts race as they were even secretive existences among the Sea Beasts. But one thing for sure is that with this innate ability alone this race of Sea Beast should have been terrifyingly powerful.”

“That’s right, for them to have been defeated is strange, but this ability is simply too Godly. It isn’t completely an offensive innate ability but rather a domain-type ability. However, it isn’t like ordinary domain-type Daoist Magic spells or Martial Arts Techniques that simply created an Aoe zone that pressure and weaken opponents. No, this innate ability goes beyond that where the opponent is trapped under a new heaven and earth. Do you understand what I mean? This ability replaces the heavens and earth themselves, and the ruler of this new heaven and earth is Teng Ye. If it were to be classified using Daoist Magic spells level, this would be a Tier 6 spell that was infinitesimally close to a Tier 7 spell.”

“N-No way, aren’t Nascent Soul Realm monsters the only ones capable of casting Tier 7 spells? But now you’re saying this is almost close to that level?!”

“That’s why this Mainlander is going to be thoroughly defeated, even before Teng Ye makes his third attack.”

On the stage, Fang Chen suddenly felt a heavy fore slam onto his back. It knock the wind out of his lungs and almost caused him to fall forward.

“Keuk!”

Fang Chen quickly caught himself and struggled to get up. The weight on his shoulders was the gravity around the stage being doubled severalfold.

‘What a terrifying innate ability, if he completely masters this could the peak of this innate ability be replacing the Heavens themselves?’

Not only Fang Chen, but many people who hadn’t seen such an ability before and were just learning about it was having such speculations run through their minds.

However, even under this increase in gravity, Fang Chen still forcefully set his back straight.

“Hooo…”

Fang Chen exhaled as he closed his eyes.

“Huh? What is brother Chen doing? Is he giving up?”

Ji Niu asked upon seeing Fang Chen's actions.

“No, he’s… Huh???!!!”

Shi Lei was just about to voice his opinion, but he along with everyone else in the audience looked at the stage with stupefaction.

After closing his eyes, Fang Chen raised his sword above his head and then it let fall.

His barely audible voice was heard muttering in sync with his actions.

“Seven Swords of Slaughter Sword Formation, First Sword.”

Fang Chen’s sword completely fell, and immediately, a thin white line could be seen traversing through this black-and-white world.

On the trail of this thin white line, the space would distort before cracking to form fissures. This went on until this black-and-white world’s foundation couldn't take it and eventually shattered like a mirror.

This took a while to explain, but this scene actually happened within the blink of an eye after Fang Chen’s sword fell.

Everyone was watching silently as Teng Ye’s Monochrome World crumble around them. One sword strike. Fang Chen had used one sword strike to destroy Teng Ye’s famed innate ability.

The Mainlanders in the audience burst out in cheers upon seeing this. All chanting Fang Chen’s name.

However, a few Borderners in the crowd sneer in contempt for them presuming this was over.

And indeed it wasn’t.

“Something’s off, that was destroyed way too easily.”

Yang Su said with a frown behind his veil hat, and Jun and the others nodded in agreement.

“Look at his palm, it’s still there.”

Li Wen said, and they all turned to look at Teng Ye. In his palm, the black orb was still there.

“He didn’t break Teng Ye’s ability.”

“Yeah.”

Jun responded to Tai’s words.

On the stage, Teng Ye’s face was still expressionless as he turned over his and let the orb fall.

Instead of shattering upon impact, the orb immediately sunk into the ground and disappeared.

“Huh? What is he do-”

A Mainlander in the crowd was about to question Teng Ye’s actions, but he and the other Mainlanders froze abruptly.

“Huh? What is this? It’s back again?!”

A disciple from the Mainland said as he looked at the surroundings that had become black and white once again.

“No! Look there, brother Fang Chen is injured!!”

Every Mainlander hearing that turned to the stage to see Fang Chen holding his chest where a bloody gash could be seen.

“A sword cut? But when? That Teng Ye does have a sword.”

This sudden situation baffled the Mainlanders in the audience.

Fang Chen looked at Teng Ye and said.

“I guess this could still be considered the second move?”

“Obviously, you haven’t destroyed my Monochrome World.”

Below the stage, Ji Niu looked at Shi Lei and said.

“You brute, why were you so shocked, don’t you know this is one feature of Teng Ye’s innate ability? It needs to analyze the opponent’s attacks to reform its structure to something resistant to their future attacks.”

Shi Lei hearing this scratched his cheek.

“Of course I know this sister Ji Niu, it’s just that Teng Ye’s Monochrome World has never been shattered before upon receiving the opponent's first attack. The only occasion that happen was with senior sister Ji Mei. Even we can’t do that.”

Ji Niu blinked. She had indeed overlooked this point.

Turning back to look at the stage, Ji Niu then said.

“If that’s the case, if he can perform an attack that's double in strength as the previous one, he might have a shot of breaking Teng Ye’s Monochrome World. But if he doesn't he might as well surrender as it would be near impossible on the successive attacks.”

“No, he’ll be able to destroy it. His sword technique is a perfect counter for Teng Ye’s ability as each successive slash multiplies in strength.”

Ji Niu’s eyes lit up at her sister's words, and she watched the match closely. Her sister's predictions in these situations had never been wrong before.

Fang Chen smiled at Teng Ye’s words.

“If that’s the case, then this is me returning it in kind as I promise.”

Once again Fang Chen exhaled and brought down his sword.

“Seven Swords of Slaughter Sword Formation, Second Sword.”

The Monochrome World trembled as Fang Chen’s sword’s thin white line appeared in the world once again. Fissures were created and it seemed as I the world was going to collapse as it did previously, however, a black line similar in nature to Fang Chen's attack appeared and clash with the white line.

The two attacks met but there was no explosion, they merely cancel each other out.

“So that’s what injured brother Chen, his own attack had been reflected back at him. This innate ability is really too terrifying. If the opponent wasn’t careful he might be killed by his own attacks without Teng Ye having to do anything. And even if they didn’t attack they would be trapped in that colorless world and only wait for death, either by the increasing gravity or by Teng Ye’s own hands.”

Hearing Tai's words, Jun added.

“But knowing brother Chen’s Sword Technique, this isn’t a problem for him.” ƒ𝘳𝗲𝑒𝒘𝐞𝚋𝚗𝐨v𝘦l.𝒄o𝐦

“Seven Swords of Slaughter Sword Formation, Third Sword.”

“...Fourth Sword.”

“…Fifth Sword.”

At the fifth sword slash from Fang Chen, Teng Ye saw that his Monochrome World was having trouble reconstructing and the attacks reflected back at Fang Chen weren’t fully nullifying his slashes.

Countless fissures riddled the Monochrome that continuously spread everywhere.

“...Sixth Sword.”

With Fang Chen’s sixth slash, the Monochrome world burst apart, and this time for good.

Looking at Teng Ye as the world regained its color, Fang Chen unhesitatingly slashed his sword for the seventh time.

“Seven Swords of Slaughter Sword Formation, Seventh Sword: Seven Swords Become One.”

Fang Chen’s sword fell, and immediately Teng Ye could tell this sword slash was stronger than the previous six combined.

Teng Ye moved to dodge the barely perceptible thin line approaching him, but he realized he had underestimated this sword slash by Fang Chen. It was simply too fast to dodge it. Almost like it had teleported itself in front of him.

Teng Ye was given no choice but to block it. He raised his right which was suddenly covered in grey scales.

DANG

The sound of metal colliding against metal echoed out meanwhile a cloud of dust erupted from the clash, obscuring Teng Ye’s figure.

The audience was taken aback by the sudden reversal of the situation resulting in them becoming silent somewhat.

Soon, the dust faded away and Teng Ye’s figure could be seen.

His expression was still expressionless but if one looked closely, one could see a small puddle of blood forming next to his feet from the blood dripping from his palm.

“You actually damaged my scales, despite not having used your real Sword Technique.”

Fang Chen smiled.

“It’s just a simpler version of the Sword Formation my Master created. If I were to use my true Sword Technique, this match wouldn’t be called a spar anymore but a life-and-death battle.”

“What? So those seven slashes weren't that Mainlander's real Sword Technique but a watered-down version?”

“Of course that’s the case! It’s said that when brother Chen uses his Sword Technique against Demonic Cultivators, seven translucent swords appear behind him in the form of a wheel. Each of those seven swords represents one of the Sixth Paths of Samsara, because when one of those swords attacks, not even a late-stage Core Formation Realm would dare take senior brother Chen lightly or else his soul would be on its way to the afterlife. As for the seventh sword, that doesn't lead to the afterlife but a true eternal death. That’s why his sword has another name among his enemies in the Demonic Cult, and that’s the Seven Swords of Samara Rebirth.”

“That’s right, and also look at brother Chen's waist, he hasn’t even drawn his second sword yet. So that seven sword slashes just now could be a watered-down sword technique of the watered-down sword technique of his original sword technique! Brother Chen is simply too amazing!!”

“Ugh, what’s there to praise? Teng Ye is the same, he hasn’t used his full strength, not even close. Just wait and see.”

As the Mainlanders and Borderners go head to head in the audience, Fang Chen down below couldn’t help but pick up on some of the things being said.

“Haha, they’re not wrong.”

Fang Chen laughed and said as he placed his hand on his second sword.

Looking at Teng Ye, he continued.

“Didn’t you say you were going to defeat me in three moves? This is your third and final move so I suggest you make it count.”

Teng Ye’s eyes narrowed.

“I will.”

BANG

A mighty aura exploded from Teng Ye’s body all of a sudden that swept across the entire stage. A heavy pressure was added to Fang Chen’s shoulders.

“It looks like you’ve finally become serious. Then after I block this one too let’s call this match a draw. Afterwards, we’ll go off to the side and talk like I asked.”

Teng Ye said nothing at first, but suddenly his cold voice echoed out.

“If you aren’t dead after this then I’ll answer you’re questions, but in exchange, you have to answer mine.”

“Deal.”

The reason why Teng Ye's attitude shifted so abruptly after wanting nothing to do with Fang Chen, was because, during this entire match, his bloodline wouldn’t stop reacting to Fang Chen’s aura and its restlessness was instead only growing stronger.
