Chapter 48: 47. Extermination (3)

Ever since Grand Duke Alarice had gone missing the crimes and the criminals had multiplied at great rate in the Northern territory.

They were already there since a long time but they couldn’t do anything quite freely since the Grand Duke was good at cutting their limbs.

One of the establishments that we were at was the largest one of the North and that sat right in the capital. The underground black market that went by the name Izkar.

I felt the sudden touch of warm fingers over my arm and I turned to look at a girl who now stood beside me fluttering her long eyelashes.

"Hello, young man, would you like to have some fun tonight?"

I smiled at her and gently removed her hand from mine, "My definition of fun is different from what you mean."

She giggled as she stuck her soft breasts over my arm, "You can give me a chance, I won’t disappoint you."

I knew I should be feeling angry but what I felt was pity.

"You won’t be able to stand me." I said as I got out of her grip and kept walking watching Lyall getting touched too.

I sighed and activated my Dragon’s Presence making the women who were trying to flank us flinch and step away quickly.

The man who was leading us turned and looked at me, his face had gone pale but he kept his business smile on and led us ahead.

"What’s in that bag? If I may ask." He asked successfully keeping his fear under control.

"A gift." I answered.

"Y-You don’t seem to be from around here, are you new to North?"

"Yes, this is our first time here."

"I-Is there any specific reason why you seek out that place?" He asked, mentioning our "order".

"Yes,"

I didn’t elaborate and he didn’t ask.

He stopped in front of a settlement that had two storeys and a dark vibe to it.

"I-I hope you have a great time here at our Izkar." He bowed before he scurried away and I pulled my Dragon’s Presence down by a notch as we entered.

The place seemed like a tavern, Lyall and I walked past the tables and went over to the counter where a man was serving drinks.

The place wasn’t as noisy as I expected but the air seemed to be carrying the thickness which had nothing to do with us being several meters below the surface. freewёbnoνel.com

This was the base of Raven Heart guild, the largest and strongest underground guild in North and their speciality was assassination.

"What would you like to have?" The bartender asked with a smile.

I took a seat on the barstool while Lyall stood behind me.

"I’d like to meet your boss."

The bartender paused for a second before he continued pouring drinks.

"Our boss doesn’t meet people so easily, he is a busy man. If you have any order please give it to me, I’ll get your work done."

"You won’t be able to do so," I said as I pulled out a pouch from my pocket and placed it on the counter.

The bartender eyed the pouch and I showed him what was inside making his eyebrows twitch. Nobody would say no to gold.

"I have more and I’ll give more when my order is done but, I would only speak to your boss." I spoke and looked at him.

The bartender chuckled lightly, "Please wait here for a moment, I’ll arrange the meeting."

He left his place and returned after a few minutes and told us to follow him.

He led us through the stairs that were beside the counter and towards the small corridor which only had one door.

He knocked twice on the door and opened it gesturing us to go inside.

I walked inside followed by Lyall and saw two black couches in the middle of the room separated by a small table and the rest of the room was filled with the decorative items. I activated my Mana Eyes and glanced across the room to check for some foul play and my eyebrows jumped as I noticed something strange apart from the man who was already in front of us.

He was sitting on one of the couches and several scars on his arms and one prominent one on his face. He was dressed in a large coat made of leopard hide and black trousers with the thick gold chains hanging from his neck and large gem studded rings on his fingers.

Lyall and I exchanged a look probably having the same thought.

Was this gigolo-looking guy really the boss of this place?

"Please have a seat." He said and I sat down while Lyall stood behind me.

"I’m Kent, the second-in-command of the Raven Heart guild."

"I’m sure, I asked for the boss." I said and he laughed.

"Our Boss is busy at the moment so, I am here, please don’t mind me, I will give your message to the Boss and your work will be done perfectly."

I eyed him and he smiled, "Please don’t worry, you must know we are the best here that’s why you came seeking our services. Just give me the information about your target and we’ll get the work done."

"Are you sure your Boss is busy?" I asked and Kent laughed.

"I won’t lie to a customer, our Boss is really busy."

"Is that so?"

"Yes."

"Then, who is the one sitting behind that fake wall?" I asked pointing at the wall behind him and his eyes widened and his confidence trembled.

"What the... How do you-"

"No professionalism means no competence." I said as I stood up.

"Let’s go, I wasted my time."

I walked towards the door about to open it when I heard the sound of a door opening a few feet away from me.

I turned to see the concealed wall opening and a man stepping out of there dressed in a black shirt under a black furry jacket and black trousers.

"Boss!" Kent gasped as he saw the man and I faced the newcomer.

He seemed like a man in his early fifties with a few of his black hair gone gray; his steel gray eyes seemed to be ready to impale anyone that came in his way.

He seemed quite sleek and professional that he befitted the title of being the Boss of the top assassin’s guild of the North, Raven Heart.

"I apologise for deceiving you," he spoke with a small bow of his head making Kent stare in between us.

"I’m the Boss of this guild, Kyrell. Please have a seat, let’s talk about your order."

I walked over and sat down on the couch with Kyrell taking a seat in front of me and Kent standing behind him.

"So, what is your order?"

"I heard about your guild from someone who snooped into my friend’s place."

His eyebrows twitched but he maintained his composed expression, "I came here to find out why he was there."

"How would I know who that person is?"

I gestured for Lyall to put the bag down and he did so and opened the mouth of the bag pulling out the man who was stuffed inside.

Kent gasped and stared at us with wide eyes.

"I had the poison tablet removed from his mouth and with some torture he revealed his guild’s name."

Kyrell stared at the bloodied face of the man before looking at me.

"Don’t worry, he’s alive." I said and the air around Kyrell changed.

"I don’t know him."

I chuckled, "That’s why I prefer assassins over knights, they would do anything to save their skin,"

I smiled darkly at Kyrell before adding, "Including throwing their comrade in the mouth of death."

Kyrell’s jaw clenched and he asked, "What do you want?"

"I already told you, I want the reason why he was snooping around my friend’s place."

"I don’t know."

"Feigning ignorance would do no good. Do you want me to torture this guy in front of you for your to answer?"

Kyrell’s lips thinned before he spoke up, "Please leave."

"I won’t go unless I have my answers." I said.

"And what if I say I won’t answer you?"

I smiled, "I’ll make you, even if you would have to lose your limbs for that."

Suddenly Kent was moving but before he could make it to me Lyall gripped his arm and slammed his face on the table. Kyrell got to his foot but before he could touch Lyall I activated my Dragon’s Presence making him halt.

"I would like to handle this peacefully but it seems like you won’t co-operate."

I gestured for Lyall to get back and increased the pressure over the two in front of me making them gasp for air.

"Wha-What are you?"

"If you’re the Boss of Raven Heart, then I’m your Master. Decide whether you want me to take out your entire guild or give me my answers."

"As if! Do-Do you even know how many of them are here?"

Kyrell glared at me and I increased the pressure making him sink to his knees.

"I can make you go down on your knees without lifting my finger then, do you think it would be hard for me to take over your guild?"

Kent passed out and Kyrell grimaced as he clenched his chest breathing hard.

"I don’t have all night to waste here, Kyrell. If you really want to keep doing this then just ask yourself, is keeping your mouth shut worth sacrificing your and your guild members’s lives?"

I lifted the pressure a little letting Kyrell breath so that he wouldn’t pass out.

"I will count till five, decide the fate of your guild."

"One."

Kyrell looked at me, his face had gone ashy.

"Two... Three..."

Kyrell looked at Kent who had slumped over on the side.

"Four."

"Fi-"

"I’ll answer!" Kyrell shouted before I could complete the word.

"Good choice."
