Chapter 50: 49. Blow That Wig Off (1)

I walked out of my room and made my way towards the reception room where the maids were rushing with tea and refreshments.

If I was right then Marquis Roderick Thompson had a plan here and that plan was to set Davian up with his daughter Charlotte who was 13 years old.

I saw a maid, Daisy who usually serves me rushing out of the room looking as if she would collapse any moment.

"Are you all right?" I asked and Daisy looked up at me, her eyes widened and cheeks went red.

"Si-Sir Ocean?" She gasped.

"You look exhausted." I said and she averted her eyes.

"I-I’m fine, Sir Ocean. B-But aren’t you supposed to be at the Fourth Wall with Seraph Knights?"

"Lord Ethan required me here for some work so, I stayed back."

Her eyes drifted to the closed doors and then back at me, "Y-You shouldn’t have stayed back, Sir Ocean."

"Are you worried about me?"

"We-Well..."

I placed my hand over her head ruffling her hair a little as I assured her, "I’ll be fine, don’t worry."

Her face went red and she bowed excusing herself before she scurried away.

"Just what kind of people are they that they’ve terrified everyone here so much?"

I knocked on the door and walked in hearing the sound of someone getting slapped. I quickly stepped in and held the maid who was falling and looked at the knight who stood there.

"Si-Sir Ocean?" The maid, Livie gasped as she saw me and I saw the bruise forming on her cheek and tears forming at her eyes.

"Are you all right?" I asked and she sniffed.

"Go see the doctor," I said and she bowed before she left the room.

"And who might you be?" The man who was dressed in a lavish aristocratic outfit demanded in a snobbish tone.

He had curly blonde hair which I couldn’t help but feel was a wig and he had a funny-looking moustache.

Beside him sat a girl with blonde hair tied in pigtails at the sides of her head and blue eyes that stared at me for a moment before she turned her attention to the tea that she was sipping.

"Rude, isn’t it? To demand someone’s name whilst not introducing yourself." I couldn’t help but let my displeasure show.

Davian or Ethan weren’t here yet, so I guess I could take some liberty. I stood leisurely in front of him without bowing and shoved my hands into the pockets of my pants.

"How insolent!" The man, apparently Marquis Roderick Thompson shouted and the guard moved without another word and threw a punch at me.

I side-stepped dodging him and he pulled another hook at me but I dodged him again. He tried to attack me a few more times but none landed and I hadn’t even got my hands out of my pockets as I saw his futile attempts.

"Stand still!"

"Quite prideful for being an amateur."

He gritted his teeth and pulled out his sword making me chuckle.

"Pulling a sword on an opponent who isn’t armed, quite an admirable knight."

I was having fun riling him up as he swung his sword trying to cut me but I simply danced away.

My fun didn’t last long as the doors opened and Davian entered with Ethan in tow. The two gasped as they saw me and the knight swung his sword at me making Davian’s eyes go wide.

"What’s going on here?!" He demanded but it didn’t stop the knight as he was blinded by rage.

I looked at Davian before I activated my Dragon’s Presence and the knight gasped, his sword dropped and he fell to his knees clutching his chest making me look down at him.

"Wha-What... happened?" Thompson gasped as he stood up watching his knight on the ground.

"Sir Ocean?" Davian looked at me and I smiled at him.

"Hello, Your Grace. I heard you had guests and since you are busy I thought I’d greet them but I walked in on something discourteous so, the situation ended up like this." I gestured at the knight who was writhing at my feet.

"Your Grace!" I heard a high-pitched girly voice and looked at the girl who stood up and looked at Davian with starry eyes.

Davian sighed and Ethan looked at me and then at Davian as if in a dilemma of whom to stand with.

The knight seemed to the edge of passing out so I lifted my Dragon’s Presence and walked over and stood a step behind Davian.

"Please have a seat." Davian said blowing away the earlier tension in the air.

"Bu-But this-"

Davian ignored Thompson as he walked over and sat down on the couch while I and Ethan stood behind him.

"Y-You really stayed." Ethan whispered at me.

"You told me to."

Thompson cough lightly clearing his throat, "I didn’t expect to be treated so rudely by a mere servant, Your Grace."

"He’s not a mere servant, Marquis please mind your words." Davian seemed angry.

Thompson’s eyes flickered to me and I faced him with a concealed glare.

"Then... Who is he? I haven’t seen him here before."

"He’s a guest who is here to aid with the problem of the monster attacks, he came from the Mage’s Tower."

Thompson’s eyebrows jumped and he smirked, "Ah, so he is from the Tower. No wonder he is so mannerless."

"Says the master of the Knight who has no shred of chivalry and slaps a maid and raises sword on an unarmed person." I said with a smile, purposely to piss him off.

Thompson glared at me while Davian sat quietly.

"You-"

"Enough!" Davian snapped at Thompson and then looked at me.

I could see the hidden worry swirling in his violet orbs before he turned back to Thompson.

"That maid couldn’t even brew a proper tea and she had no tact whatsoever so, I had my knight punish her."

"With what authority?" Davian asked making Thompson frown.

"Pardon?"

"With what authority did you punish the maid of the Montaire household?"

Thompson seemed at a loss for words and the girl who looked in between her father and Davian spoke up.

"We shouldn’t stretch this small matter anymore, Your Grace. Besides, I’m your fiance so, with that authority I can punish the servants of this household, right?" She spoke fluttering her eyelashes and pouting her pink lips.

"The talks about our engagement are not finished so, please don’t proclaim yourself as my fiance, Lady Charlotte." Davian shot her cute act down and I coughed to hide my laughter.

I shouldn’t act like that for a thirteen-year-old but I couldn’t help it.

Why were the people so scared? It was fun to watch this.

Charlotte seemed unfazed of Davian’s cold reply and giggled, "I know you are quite shy about this, Your Grace but you don’t need to be embarrassed about us getting married."

"That’s right, besides, Your Grace needs us so, it is profitable to just agree to marry my daughter, right?"

Hm? What was this angle?

"I know you really like me, Your Grace so, please don’t hesitate to speak your heart." Charlotte covered her blushing cheeks and I looked down at Davian’s face. fгeewebnovёl.com

His expression said that he might just go ballistic on their faces but he was holding in quite well.

Looking at Charlotte, I could only think of one word.

Delusional...

"Ah, right! I brought the thing that you asked for Your Highness so, shall we..." His eyes drifted over to me as he added, "Discuss this in private?"

"Yes,"

"I wish I could blow that wig off." I muttered and Ethan coughed hiding his laughter.

I and Ethan were excused with the order of showing the Lady her room.

Charlotte seemed like the kind of girl who wanted everything as per her requirements.

"Such dreary place! I asked His Grace to change the atmosphere to make it a little more lively but it seems like he has no time."

"Obviously." I muttered as she started ranting or rather complaining about the interior decor of the castle.

"Hmph!" She scoffed, "Once I become the Grand Duchess I will change everything in here and arrange..."

She went on and on about how she would do this and that after becoming the Grand Duchess and I and Ethan had no choice but to listen to her blabbering until we reached the guest room.

"Oh, am I staying here this time as well?" She spoke as we stood in front of the door.

"Shouldn’t I be using the Grand Duchess’ room since she’s gone now?" Her smile and the blantant tone made a vein pulse in my head. I wanted to say something to her but her age and an idea stopped me.

"That room-" Ethan was about to explode but I patted his shoulder and took the lead.

"You’re right, you should be placed in the Grand Duchess’s room."

"What are you-" Ethan looked at me with wide eyes and I smiled at him.

"I am right, Lord Ethan. Lady Charlotte is the future Grand Duchess so, she should stay in the chambers befitting her standing."

Charlotte grinned widely at my words, unbeknownst to her, I was planning something which she would never ever forget in her life.
