The Marshal's Wife is Wild-Chapter 66 - 65 Seizing Fate by the Throat

Chapter 66 -65: Seizing Fate by the Throat
After sleeping for barely over three hours on Si Yuting’s aircraft and maintaining the same position throughout, Qu Tong felt as though her bones were about to fall apart when she disembarked.
She stretched languidly and limbered up her limbs, casting Si Yuting a somewhat resentful glance.
The other party remained imperturbable, with a cold demeanor.
Qu Tong began to survey her surroundings. The Insect Star also had plant life, but they were all heavily contaminated varieties. Qu Tong even felt that the air here had a different taste.
It gave a sense of oppression, and her spiritual power showed signs of restlessness.
Even the usually expressionless Si Yuting slightly furrowed his brow, his expression chilly.
He pulled up a satellite map on his light computer and turned on the public speaker.
The map was annotated and not difficult to comprehend.
It was apparent that they were in a relatively safe area covered in green.
Si Yuting’s distinctively jointed fingers touched a red area on the edge of the map, and the best route to that point from their current location immediately displayed.
“The area where the Kagura Flowers are located is on the outskirts of the explored safe zone, in the depths of the forest, a place favored by the Insect Clan,” he said, his voice low but forceful, as if naturally carrying the gravitas of a commander. His finger tapped again, not far from the route, at another spot:
“We have another mission to attend to, needing to collect samples from the yew trees. If we pass by here, we can return before dark.”
After finishing, Si Yuting looked at Qu Tong.
Qu Tong had no objections, and the other two naturally wouldn’t either.
Once they had agreed upon the route, the group began to advance towards their target.
Along the way, they encountered quite a few members of the Low-Level Bug Tribe.
The Low-Level Bug Tribe were just slightly larger than the usual insects, with more disgusting mucus, harder exoskeletons, and greater numbers.
The few of them faced little pressure in dealing with these creatures. Even Jiang Zhou could use his ion gun to headshot one after another.
Qu Tong, walking behind Si Yuting, observed Jiang Zhou’s technique in using the ion gun and failed to notice a rock at her feet. She kicked it and pain twisted her face,
and her entire body, thrown off balance, pitched forward. Just as she was about to use her special ability to stabilize herself using a nearby large tree, Si Yuting, who had unexpectedly already positioned himself beside her, extended his hand in anticipation.
“Thank…”
Before she could finish her thanks, Qu Tong, hand still extended, felt as though her very fate had been throttled.
Si Yuting had grabbed the back of her collar and, with a firm tug, steadied her.
Qu Tong: “…”
The forward momentum, combined with Si Yuting’s not-so-gentle pulling force, almost made Qu Tong’s eyes roll back in the moment.
“Cough cough!” Qu Tong coughed twice while clutching her neck, and once her breathing eased, she looked coldly at Si Yuting:
“Admiral, has anyone ever told you that you’re very unapproachable?”
Si Yuting heard the dissatisfaction in Qu Tong’s voice and responded icily, “This is more convenient.”
Qu Tong: “…”
At this moment, there was a little person inside Qu Tong’s heart desperately scratching its head in frustration.

Honestly, if she were a bit more hot-tempered and less sensible, she would have thrown a punch at him.
However, the person in question didn’t feel there was anything wrong with his actions, which was baffling…
Xiong Lie caught up after finishing his task and, along with Jiang Zhou, came over, wiping the sweat from his forehead, and asked, “Is this the mutated spruce?”
“Mhm.”
Si Yuting nodded, making room for Jiang Zhou.
Qu Tong was also brought back to the present and turned back to look at the yew tree she had nearly paid homage to by falling into.
What she saw was a tree that was clearly larger and more lush than the surrounding trees. Most importantly, she could feel that its contamination level was lower than the others, though it was nearing a critical threshold.
Jiang Zhou stepped forward, took out his tools, and, quite professionally, took a bit of bark, branches, and leaves from different parts of the tree and placed them into a bag, and even sampled some of the surrounding vegetation and soil, storing them in specific containers.
“Why not just dig it out and take it back?” asked Qu Tong, puzzled.
She placed a hand on the trunk, her Special Ability reaching out to examine the veins of this naturally purified plant.
“It’s useless. We’ve tried that before. Mutated plants quickly become like those around them once transplanted. It’s better to leave them where they are; they might survive a bit longer that way,” Jiang Zhou explained.
Qu Tong withdrew her hand and nodded to show she understood.
After all, without their own Special Abilities, it was difficult for them to cultivate unpolluted plants.

With their task here complete, they continued towards the location of the Seven-leaf Heart.
For the remainder of the journey, Qu Tong could clearly feel that the Insect Clan they encountered became tougher to deal with.
Not only were they growing larger, but their defensive abilities had strengthened, and their speed had more than doubled. Some even had venomous bodily fluids.
However, Jiang Zhou said he brought an antidote serum, so there wasn’t a need to worry about that.
Qu Tong also took out the Ion gun she’d snatched from a Star Thief, imitating Jiang Zhou by channeling a wisp of spiritual power into the energy chamber and pulling the trigger.
No response.
Qu Tong didn’t believe there was any issue with her technique, so she tried adding a bit more spiritual power before pulling the trigger again.
This time it worked.
But the shot went off into empty space.
Qu Tong tried once more, using the same amount of spiritual power as before, and fired again.
The ion beam shot precisely at a bug from the Insect Clan that had hard mantis pincers and many sharp, disgustingly vicious teeth, but it dodged, and the shot only pierced through one of its wings.
Without hesitation, Qu Tong fired again. This time she hit her target dead-on; the mantis-looking bug’s head was scorched open by the Ion Light Speed, leaving a large hole, and it was dead for good.
“Miss Ali, nice shooting!” Xiong Lie, who happened to see this, couldn’t help but praise her.
Qu Tong raised an eyebrow, accepting the compliment.
With experience, after initially needing two shots per bug, she was able to predict their movements and resolve them with a single shot.
She even fired more frequently than Jiang Zhou.
Of course, there was no need to mention Si Yuting, who didn’t use an Ion gun at all. He wielded his Thunder-element spiritual power, striking down swathes with a single blow.
Xiong Lie preferred to infuse his spiritual power into his fist when fighting.
That faint layer of yellow spiritual power led Qu Tong to guess it was some sort of defensive attribute, like metal or earth element.
As they drew closer to their destination, Jiang Zhou fell back behind Si Yuting, walking alongside Qu Tong.
“Miss Jun Li, do you still have spiritual power left?”
That question caught Qu Tong off guard; they hadn’t gone that far, and the Ion gun didn’t use much spiritual power.
But seeing Si Yuting also looking over, Qu Tong turned back to see the fatigue on Jiang Zhou’s face.
“I still have a… little bit,” she responded.
“We are following the Admiral; with his abundant spiritual power, protecting us won’t be a problem,” Jiang Zhou said, as if he had guessed already, considerately speaking.
“Okay,” agreed Qu Tong, naturally nodding.
“Dr. Zhou, what level is your constitution?” Qu Tong then asked.
Jiang Zhou: “…”
“A.” Jiang Zhou fell silent for a moment before squeezing out a word.
Then he turned his head away and said no more.
Qu Tong nodded.
After taking down a few more of the Low-Level Bug Tribe, Qu Tong put away her gun and walked behind Si Yuting with Jiang Zhou, waiting for him to clear the way.
