The Necromancer is amassing troops like crazy in the apocalypse-Chapter 530 - 439, you’re not even as good as your dad.
Chapter 530 -439, you’re not even as good as your dad.
“Where did you hear about that?” Jokim, who was standing next to her, looked at her and asked.
Leaning on the bar, Philippa said, “I’ve been reading a book recently, called ‘A Brief History of Pirates.’ It mentioned a Pirate King in the Emerald Sea a while back, and I was just curious if it was true.”
“You can read?” Jokim asked with skepticism.
Philippa said, “If it weren’t for my old man being a pirate, I would have been a prime talent cultivated by the kingdom.”
The tavern instantly fell silent, followed by a burst of laughter from the pirates.
“You, a wild girl, a talent?”
“Which unfortunate kingdom would cultivate you?”
“Iron Barrel Pirate Group has been reduced to only three ships in your hands, you’re not even as good as your old man.”
Bang~!
Philippa slammed her hand on the bar with force and cursed loudly, “Bullshit! If I wasn’t a pirate, I could have at least mixed in as a consortium member, then I’d capture all of you and shove sticks up your asses.”
“Shove sticks up asses, shove sticks up asses.”
The parrot also mimicked the words on the side.
Ha ha ha~!
The laughter around them grew louder, and the entire tavern suddenly became lively.
Philippa’s face flushed with anger as she continued to curse, “Keep laughing, and when it comes to finding women, you’re paying your own money.”
“Stop, stop, stop! You’re a talent.”
“Right, right, you could be a steward in the consortium.”
The pirates howled again.
Jokim too chuckled for a while, then said, “What’s written in the book is naturally true. It’s normal for your younger generation not to know about it.”
Ignoring the other pirates, Philippa turned her head and asked, “Was this Pirate King really that impressive?”
“You must have seen the Pirate King’s letter, right?”
Philippa nodded, “I know about it. I hijacked a few ships because of the information in those letters. Does it really have something to do with the Pirate King? Has he lived that long?”
Jokim smiled, took a sip of his drink, and did not continue.
Philippa frowned and said, “Boss Jokim, don’t tell me you’re also clueless and just bluffing me.”
Jokim raised his eyebrows, “Of course, I know more than you do.”
“Really? Then tell me who this Pirate King is?”
Jokim frowned at her, looked her up and down, and asked, “Are you really that interested?”
Philippa, not the least bit shy, drank her drink and shook her leg, skeptically saying, “If you don’t know, it’s fine. Maybe I’ll ask some other Pirate Group later?”
Jokim’s expression froze, just as he was about to speak.
Creak.
The tavern’s door was pushed open, and the bartender came in with several heavily made-up women, who swayed their hips as they entered and immediately threw themselves into the pirates’ arms.
Jokim also stood up, embraced two of the women, and said, “Philippa, do you want to join us tonight?”
Philippa waved her hand, “Forget it, you look too old.”
Jokim laughed heartily and, with the women in tow, headed upstairs, saying, “I find you quite pleasing, you wild girl. Don’t go out to sea lately. I’ll take you to broaden your horizons in a couple of days if you can pass the scrutiny.”
“What kind of horizons?” Philippa asked.
As Jokim’s figure disappeared into the stairwell, a voice came down, “About what you were just curious about.”
Philippa rushed to the stairwell and shouted upwards, “You’re so discerning, Boss Jokim, just like the benevolent Babuzzi.”
No reply came from upstairs.
Meanwhile, downstairs, the pirates and women were already getting rowdy.
Even the pirates Philippa brought with her had their heads buried in the women’s bosoms.
Philippa glanced over all the pirates.
After cursing under her breath, she left the tavern with her parrot.
She started strolling through the streets nearby.
…
Wu Heng returned to Gold and Silver Island.
He came downstairs.
Shanaela was there today as well, chatting and laughing with two maids on the first floor.
She wasn’t as shy as she had been the day before.
In their conversations, you could faintly hear them discussing where Wu Heng was ticklish, what kind of actions he liked, and other such matters.
As Wu Heng approached.
The three of them noticed and blushed slightly, immediately changing the subject to their shopping trip that day.
Wu Heng sat beside them and joined the conversation.
Before long, dinner was served, and the four of them sat at the dining table and started eating.
After dinner.
Mini and Shanaela went out to the yard to play shuttlecock, and Wu Heng kept Andre Willow behind.
“Master, do you need me?” Andre Willow poured him a glass of water and asked curiously.
Wu Heng took a sip and said, “Have there been any developments with the kidnapping?”
Andre Willow shook her head, “No news has reached me yet. I’ll ask at the consortium tomorrow.”
“No need, I’ll go there myself tomorrow,” Wu Heng continued, “What about Millicent?”
“Mrs. Millicent, who is still residing in the Association’s dormitory, hasn’t been involved in any rumors about conch shells and the Association these past days. Assistant Moya is arranging to release her while distancing the relationship,”
Wu Heng nodded. Moya would handle the matter more securely.
“That’s good, go and have fun with them.”
Andre Willow responded and walked out of the room to play shuttlecock with Mini and Shanaela.
Wu Heng then returned to the study to read for a while.
When night fell, he went back to his room to rest.
…
The next day, at the Association’s dungeon.
The heavy iron door opened.
A young man dressed as a bartender cautiously made his way down.
He passed several iron cages, identifying the prisoners lying on the ground, and continued deeper inside.
Finally, in one of the cages, he saw a familiar figure and whispered, “Boss, are you alright?”
Inside the cage, Millicent lifted her head, joy flickering in her eyes, “How did it go? Did you get it done?”
The bartender’s voice lowered even more, “It’s done. The money has been sent out.”
“Did they say when they would let me out?”
“No word on that.” The bartender shook his head, then cautiously asked, “Boss, we didn’t just give away the money for nothing, did we?”
“That shouldn’t be the case!”
The two spoke quietly as the dungeon’s iron door opened once again.
Two Association guards came chatting down the stairs.
Millicent and the bartender immediately fell silent, watching the two figures approach.
The guards stood outside the cage, glancing inside, “Millicent, right?”
“Yes,” Millicent replied.
While unlocking the cage, the guard said, “Your case has been investigated, and you are free to go.”
“Thank you.” Millicent walked out of the cage and, after expressing her gratitude, left with the bartender.
They crossed the lobby and exited the Association’s main gate.
Only then did the bartender express dissatisfaction, “I thought the Association might be better, but they’re just extorting money.”
Millicent glanced around. “Stop talking nonsense. Let’s head back.”
They hailed a carriage and headed for Lighthouse Street.
Upstairs at the Association.
Wu Heng watched the disappearing carriage and then drew the curtains closed again.
According to Moya’s thoughts, they were to hold ‘Millicent’ for a few more days, until some results came out regarding the assassination matter.
Then they would release her.
But Wu Heng, after coming over, had decided to release her directly.
The clues on the Association’s side had been exhausted.
The source of this c𝓸ntent is frёeweɓηovel.coɱ.
Moreover, since her head had been chopped off without her body being taken, it was clear there was confidence there was no further use in delaying.
Therefore, today Millicent was released as planned.
Andre Willow said from behind him, “Some people already know she is your informant, so she might not be able to collect much information.”
“It’s not a big issue. There’s a mix of truth and falsehood in the various rumors outside; there are all sorts of stories, and even if some people talk, it doesn’t necessarily spread far,” Wu Heng added. “If she really can’t gather any information, just have her keep running the tavern. It’s an explanation for Philippa, too.”
“Hmm, you have thought things through.”
Wu Heng turned around and patted her little head, “Alright, I’m heading back now. If there’s nothing this afternoon, come home early.”
“Yes, Master.”
Wu Heng left the Association.
Standing at the entrance, he pondered for a moment before walking towards the Snake Badge Consortium.
…
With his skeleton attendant, he entered the Snake Badge Consortium.
After presenting his Emblem, a staff member led him to the VIP room.
Soon after, the middle-aged staff member from before knocked and entered, bowing respectfully, “Good morning, guest.”
“Good morning, have the results of the commission I posted last time come in?” Wu Heng handed over the Emblem to the staff.
The middle-aged man accepted, “Please wait a moment.”
After speaking, he promptly left.
Shortly, the man returned, holding a wooden box inlaid with brocade.
“Guest, we have collected a precious material for the commission you posted—the blood of the Abyssal Demon Fish. The rest of the materials are still being gathered.”
The wooden box opened, revealing a glass bottle containing a thick red liquid.
“When can the rest of the materials be collected?” Wu Heng asked.
“I cannot give you an exact answer to that. We will notify you if we collect them,” the middle-aged man continued.
“Alright, hand it over to me.”
After settling the final payment, Wu Heng took the materials.
After asking the staff to expedite the collection process, he also left the Consortium.
