The No.1 Anti-Fans in Basketball-Chapter 466 - 237 Surpassing Jordan
Chapter 466: Chapter 237 Surpassing Jordan
The Grizzlies didn’t have a Christmas showdown scheduled this year, which meant the players got the rare opportunity of an extended holiday.
Taking advantage of this, on the day after Christmas, Hansen and Ajalee went to the Memphis Zoo together.
As it turns out, despite living in Memphis for nearly four years, busy with games and training, this was Hansen’s first visit.
Their first destination within the zoo was an exhibit called the Northwest Passage.
It was only after stepping inside that Hansen regretted not coming sooner.
Because there were polar bears on display!
These creatures aren’t something you can see in just any zoo.
And when they arrived, the big guys were swimming in the glass corridor.
At that moment, Hansen noticed Ajalee making some strange gestures at the polar bears, and what was key was that the polar bears looked back at her.
After the polar bears left the glass corridor, she even went to the outdoor area to continue observing them, and while she was taking pictures with her camera, she started explaining to Hansen.
The tables had turned.
"You seem to know a lot about them?" Hansen asked, somewhat surprised.
"I majored in marine biology in college."
Ajalee’s response left Hansen speechless.
He suddenly realized that he had made a blunder.
He had associated Berkeley directly with music, but the Berkeley in the Bay Area didn’t specialize in music.
No wonder Ajalee had laughed earlier; she must have found his attempt to look knowledgeable funny.
That also explained the pictures of diving and marine animals on her social media.
Next to the Northwest Passage was another exhibit called Teton Trek.
The name sounded like it belonged to some interstellar display, but in reality, it was named after the Teton Range in Yellowstone National Park, showcasing the common inhabitants there: the grizzly bears.
This exhibit was much larger than the polar bear area—it was about the size of an entire soccer field.
There were quite a number of visitors there as well.
Speaking of which, Memphis wasn’t the original home of bears; the Grizzlies got their name from when the team was in Vancouver, which is also home to grizzly bears.
So the Memphis Zoo having grizzly bears was unrelated to the Memphis Grizzlies, yet there was a connection.
It was here that Hansen got recognized.
Soon enough, many visitors came to ask for his autograph and photos.
This was precisely why Hansen didn’t enjoy local outings in Memphis much—because it would quickly turn into a signing and photo-shooting event.
By the time he finished, more than ten minutes had passed.
"Sorry," Hansen said to Ajalee, knowing it wasn’t polite to make someone wait like that when out together.
"You don’t have any superstar airs at all," Ajalee replied, not minding in the least and even complimenting him, which made Hansen feel comfortable.
Actually, he had been feeling at ease with Ajalee since they had entered the zoo.
The first reason a man is drawn to a woman is definitely because she fits his aesthetic, but what really decides if two can get along is their personalities.
After leaving Teton Trek, they proceeded to the Feline Kingdom.
This area was self-explanatory, housing a variety of felids.
First up was the snow leopard, which unfortunately had a smaller space and was sprawled belly-up on top of an artificial rock formation, its long tail hanging off the edge, looking just like a house cat.
The star attraction in this area was the Suman Tiger, whose enclosure was almost as large as the previous grizzly exhibit and included grasslands, water bodies, and even a waterfall.
The zoo had even built a Southeast Asian temple ruin replica, with the waterfall cascading down from it, creating an almost indistinguishable fake from reality.
They had really put some effort into it.
At this point, Hansen noticed Ajalee staring at the Suman Tiger with a look that seemed affectionate.
Wait, just because you’re of Indian descent, we’re not really doing an Indian movie scenario, are we?
"I’m going to build a habitat like this when I go back," Ajalee then said, causing Hansen to blink.
Knowing her family’s wealth, he didn’t doubt her capability, but what would she need such a scene for?
"Does your family keep tigers?" Hansen asked casually.
To his surprise, Ajalee simply nodded.
Well, that was something!
Though keeping tigers wasn’t unheard of—O’Neal had once mentioned owning two ligers when he was still in Cleveland.
But Ajalee and a tiger, that was like beauty and the beast!
Just taking a photo together would give off the vibe of an Indian movie.
"When you have time, I’ll take you to see it," Ajalee invited Hansen.
Hansen smiled and nodded; this was an opportunity to further their relationship.
After leaving the Feline Kingdom, they visited a very special place called the Nocturnal Animal Hall.
This was something new not just for Hansen but likely for Ajalee as well.
A narrow wooden door led to an introduction panel that read, "As the sun sets, the creatures of the night come alive."
Anyone in the know would realize this was a zoo exhibit; anyone else might think they were entering a haunted house.
But just before stepping in, Ajalee instinctively took hold of Hansen’s hand.
And as they reached the first exhibit, she subconsciously leaned against Hansen.
Because it was a vampire bat exhibit, with a swarm of bats feeding in two blood-filled basins.
