Chapter 173: Chapter 90: Journey to Chongqing (11) Surprise Search_2

After walking away for a while, he couldn’t help but come back again.

Thus, he came and went back and forth three times, finally unable to resist pushing the door to enter.

Originally, he was supposed to enter with the Prince, but ended up being directly shut outside the door by the Prince.

Afterwards, he had no idea what had happened inside.

All he knew was that the Prince stayed in the Princess’s room for at least half an hour, and as for what was done during that half an hour... Xiao Wu didn’t dare to think about it, his face turning red at the thought.

Later, when the Prince finally came out, there was no discernible emotion on his face. Only his voice sounded somewhat hoarse as he instructed the servant at the door, "When she wakes up later, have her come to my room for a meal."

And then he waited.

Waited until this moment.

The food had gone cold, re-heated, and cooled again, before the Princess finally showed up.

After appearing, the Prince had this cold demeanor again.

"There’s something I’d like to discuss with you," Xiao Jinxing said indifferently.

"Oh," Ye Qichi didn’t suspect anything.

Having cured the plague, naturally, there would be big plans to follow.

"Let’s eat first, I’m starving," Ye Qichi suggested.

Xiao Jinxing nodded.

At this moment, the food was taken back to be reheated again.

The pair sat in front of the dining table waiting.

Ye Qichi was genuinely famished, her back sticking to her chest from hunger. Although there was food in the garden, she had no appetite due to exhaustion. After a nap today, she felt like she could eat a whole cow.

This dog of a Prince really knew she was hungry; couldn’t he have ordered his servants to prepare the meal earlier?!

With some complaints in her heart, she didn’t voice them out.

She didn’t want to argue with Xiao Jinxing.

However, to distract herself from the hunger, Ye Qichi took the initiative to ask, "Did you come to my room this afternoon?"

Xiao Jinxing’s expression remained indifferent, "Yes, I wanted to ask you something."

"Did you carry me out of the wooden tub?"

"You slept like a log, couldn’t be woken even if shouted at," Xiao Jinxing said irritably, "I was afraid you’d freeze to death in the tub."

Ye Qichi was speechless.

This person, even when doing good, is the kind that won’t make others feel grateful.

She asked, "What about the clothes I took off?"

"I disposed of them," Xiao Jinxing said with a cold voice.

"Are you sure they’re disposed of?"

"Do you still want them?" Xiao Jinxing frowned.

"No," Ye Qichi explained, "I was worried they might have the virus on them, meaning pathogens which if not promptly dealt with could infect others. It’s good that you’ve thrown them away."

"I had them buried in the ground," Xiao Jinxing stated, "fearing they might carry infectious diseases."

"That’s somewhat smart of you," Ye Qichi said, offering rare praise.

Xiao Jinxing’s lips seemed to have smiled for a moment, or perhaps it was just an illusion.

At this moment, the servants delivered the evening meal.

"Sir Xiao, Miss Ye, please enjoy your meal," the servant said respectfully, presenting a full array of dishes.

Ye Qichi recognized the voice at once — it was from the servant who had been passing messages outside these past few days.

She looked up at the servant and inquired, "Do you have any symptoms of a cold?"

The servant paused, then slowly answered, "No, I do not."

"Hmm, that’s good," Ye Qichi nodded slightly.

"I shall take my leave."

The servant left.

Ye Qichi picked up the bowl and chopsticks in front of her, unable to resist the temptation of food, and began to eat rudely.

Xiao Jinxing was holding his chopsticks, his hand freezing in place.

Ye Qichi hadn’t eaten for days, to be able to eat like this.

Xiao Wu was also shocked.

No matter the situation, a lady of a respectable family could never be seen eating in such an unrefined manner like the Princess, puffing her cheeks out round in the process.

All was lost.

Once again the Prince would feel aversion.

Xiao Wu was already bracing for the Prince’s temper.

But contrary to expectation, not only did the Prince not lose his temper, but he also seemed to laugh for a moment when he saw the Princess’s way of eating.

Aware of Xiao Wu’s gaze, his expression turned serious again.

He said, "Eat more slowly."

The tone was distinctly strict.

Yet it seemed there was a hint of indulgence in his voice.

Xiao Wu wondered if he was going mad, was he too hopeful for things to improve between the Prince and the Princess, creating an illusion in his mind?!

He always felt that the Prince’s attitude towards the Princess was different now, still looking cold on the surface, but not the same as before.

After polishing off a bowl of rice, Ye Qichi wiped her mouth, then said to the servant, "Another bowl, please."

The servant hurriedly went to serve her more.

Only after finishing a bowl of rice did Ye Qichi feel slightly more alive. She saw Xiao Jinxing staring at her and not moving his chopsticks, and asked in surprise, "Why aren’t you eating?!"
