Chapter 1398: The Big Gun

Lory didn’t know what the saintess was like behind her persona as The Saintess, and she was quite curious about it, especially about the mysterious disappearance of the organization’s healers. Lory wondered if the saintess knew about it.

Furthermore, Lory is also curious about the illustrious Salvo De Rova. What kind of man is he? Unlike Zhao Li Xin, his coldness was plain to see for everyone, as he didn’t try to hide it.

However, Salvo De Rova was different. There was something hidden in his captivating dark blue eyes. Despite treating the Saintess with utmost gentleness, his presence makes Lory feel uneasy.

Was he faking it because he was in public, or was he also pretending in front of the Saintess? Was the Saintess a willing participant or a clueless victim? If the saintess had no idea about it? If that’s true, then it would be so cruel because she seemed quite taken by her charming first knight.

Fargo noticed more and more Paladins came to control the crowd. he patted Lory’s shoulder, "Let’s get out of here," He whispered.

Lory knew it was getting more dangerous with so many Paladins coming, "Okay..." she gave a knowing nod.

Just before she left, her eyes caught the icy blue eyes staring back at her, it was Sean. Lory tilted her head, then turned around and left.

Sean’s brow furrows as he caught a familiar gaze, but her face was hidden behind the mask. The curiosity hit him like a wave. Sean tried to get to her, but the woman had already disappeared amongst the crowd. For some reason, an inexplicable disappointment seeped into his heart as if he missed something important.

Sean raked his finger through his hair, feeling perplexed about his own feelings.

A few minutes later, they went back to the small hostel they rented right at the heart of Wellington city near the Angel Boulevard. Lory threw away her hoodie on the bed and took off her mask. Not long after, she heard knocking on the door.

"Can’t I come in?" Fargo’s baritone voice came from behind the door.

"Come in, Fargy!" She took out two bento boxes from her ring, "You came just in time for lunch. Honestly, was this planned?" Lory jokes.

Fargo snatches the bento box from Lory. "A good general always thinks two steps ahead." he joyfully walked to the small wooden table at the corner of the room, then eagerly opened the box’s lid, and soon after, the fragrant scent wafted to his nostrils.

Fargo closed his eyes as if trying to suck all the scent into his nose. "It smells so good, what is this, Lory?"

"Um, if I’m not wrong, that’s supposed to be a Lion head meatball." Lory has a seat across from him at the small table that is barely enough for them to eat.

Fargo was agape, "They turn Lion into a meatball, how savage, I love it!" he took a bite with gusto.

"I don’t think that’s a real Lion’s meat," Lory remembered in the cultivators’ world, they tend to give exaggerated names to their dish, like flying phoenix, or eight jewel cake, and such.

"Hen hwat is it? (Then what is it?)" Fargo asks with a full mouth.

Lory ponders for a few seconds, then realizes somethin.g "Huh, you know what, I never ask..."

Fargo swallowed his food and then happily said, "Whatever it is, it’s delicious, you should give it to the royal chef to recreate this dish."

Lory answered nonchalantly, "Yeah-Yeah."

Lory takes a bite, and immediately her eyes twinkle. Fargo was right, it’s very delicious!

After three bento boxes, Fargo took out a tablet from his spatial ring, and he looked pleased with it, "This is information about tomorrow’s festival, we got the schedule of events and the time the Saintess and Alexander will be coming out of Elysium to give a speech on the big stage in Angel Boulevard, I guess that’s when Stephan will sneak into Elysium"

"I don’t think the paladins will leave Elysium unguarded. They must know their enemies will take this opportunity to sneak into Elysium," said Lory.

"True, but that’s the risk we take," Fargo spread his arms and shrugged.

Lory massaged her head, then mumbled, "If only we can connect with Uncle Stephan, everything will get easier." frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

"I know, but he wouldn’t let himself easy to find, you know how he is..." Fargo shook his head, then poured himself a glass of cold whiskey.

"But we cannot enter Elysium blindly, that place is very huge, what if we miss each other?" Lory got up from the chair, then went to the fridge and took out a small box, as expected, it’s a quarter-sized strawberry cake.

Fargo pursed his lips as he watched Lory sit in front of him, digging into a quite sizeable cake with a fork. "We only eat Lory," he reminded Lory.

"Hey, I’m under a lot of stress, you know! Besides, I don’t eat much, and the other additional bento boxes were yours, right?" Lory stabbed her fork into the cake angrily, then took a big bite.

Fargo shakes his head, knowing he can’t say anything about Lory’s old habit. Hence, he continues, "It’s not like we go blindly, Lory."

Fargo took a sip of his drink, then continue,d "Just think about it, Stephan brought Serena with him for a reason,n and it must have something to do with what she can offer."

"Her work," Lory nodded.

"That’s right, but why did she come here? We already know the Dolza government has confiscated Serena’s work, which they consider detrimental to the organization, which means it must have been taken by Pladin and stored inside Elysium, and where they gather all the classified documents would be." Fargo pointed to the blueprint on the tablet screen.

Lory zoomed in on the map, then muttered, "The Sensitive Information facilities (SIF)..." Lory’s eyes widened.

"That’s where I think our uncle Stephan would go." Fargo raised his glass and slowly took a sip.

Lory pondered for a second, then asked again, "But still, do we have confirmation that Serena’s work is actually there, because if we —"

"We already confirmed it, her work was indeed taken by the organization and stored inside the safety of Elysium," Fargo cuts in.

"Oh, how do you get that information?" Lory was stunned.

Fargo smirked, "Just say it, that not all in Dolza like to be controlled by the organization for too long."

Lory was taken back for a moment, then leaned her head forward and whispered, "Wait, could it be... the President?"

Fargo tilted his head and grinned mischievously.

It was well known in Dolza, if you wanted to pursue a career in politics or business, there someone you must ask for permission, and that person is Alexander Behren.

Even the President, the S.A.I.N.T. organization has a lot of influence in Dolza, but after the Dark Age War, their influence has grew rapidly and spread world wide, to the point that they are almost untouchable by anyone in the world and the only force managed to stand up to them is only Harland and the venerable Lucient’s King.

"For someone who holds the title of ruler of a country, no one likes being treated like a doormat for all this time," Fargo said.

"Finally, he’s trying to take back his sovereignty from Alexander, though it’s long overdue, in my opinion." Lory licked her fork.

"And he can’t do it all alone, especially after what happened at the festival in the Everglade, where the Saintess and the paladins gallantly saved the people from the Bael. Now, all of Dolza’s citizens have completely sided with the organization, and there’s nothing he can do about it. You could say that the entire Dolza government is being held hostage."

Lory didn’t doubt their motives because she always wondered what the government was thinking when the organization’s influence grew beyond the current government’s influence, such an embarrassment, she didn’t know how the Dolza government handled that, and turned out they couldn’t.

"That’s not a bad deal." Lory tapped her finger on the table while licking her spoon. "Tell them Harland wouldn’t mind increasing their investment in Dolza for next year."

"Oh, this surely motivates them more to get rid of Alexander," Fargo smiled slyly.

Without the S.A.I.N.T. organization, they would need a lot of money to get rid of the parties that supported the Saintess and also her influence, not to mention they would have to prove to the public that they were more reliable in leading the country than Alexander Behrenn.

Lory finished her cake then wiped her mouth with a tissue, then said with a serious face, "What I’m worried about is President Dolza’s opinion of Theodore Navaro. I’m afraid he hopes to replace Alexander to cooperate with Luxemborough."

"Are you afraid he’ll have his cake and eat it too?" Fargo raised an eyebrow.

"Really?" Lory threw the question back.

"That... maybe, one of the criteria for becoming a ruler is being opportunistic, so I wouldn’t be surprised."

"Hey!" Lory protested.

Fargo waved his hand casually. "I mean, most of the rulers, you Lucients are a bit weird."

"HEEYY!" Lory protested even more.

"So that’s why you brought up the investment issue." Fargo brushed aside Lory’s protest and continued.

Lory propped her chin on her hand and sighed, "Yes, we need to make sure they have more advantages by siding with us than Luxemborough....but I don’t know, they must have witnessed how the organization thrived under the collaboration with Luxemborough."

Fargo slammed his palm on the table and guffawed loudly. "Don’t worry about it, Princess, when that situation arises, it’s time for us to bring out our big guns to deal with it!"

Lory stared blankly at Fargo. "What Big guns?"

Fargo raised his index finger in the air, "Don’t you know it? We got the infamous Fredhardt Knoxville!"
