The Reborn Aristocrat's Daughter-Chapter 858 - 818: Extra Story - Bottom Line
Chapter 858: Chapter 818: Extra Story - Bottom Line
"I came to see my grandchildren, is that not allowed?" Liu Yun masked her own unease as she spoke.
"You can certainly see your grandchildren, but where exactly are you planning to take them? Mom," Xiao Muli said, as the air pressure around him dropped to its lowest point once again.
"This isn’t the first time I’ve visited them; I just wanted to take them out for some food," Liu Yun remained quite fearful of her son. She was well aware of her son’s methods. If her son found out about her schemes against his children, she would be truly finished.
"Are you sure about that? Then what’s the deal with these people? Bring them up here," Xiao Muli coldly commanded to someone behind him. The figures lurking in the shadows brought out the people Liu Yun had invited. Upon seeing the people being dragged out, her vision darkened and she fainted, collapsing backward.
Seeing his so-called mother faint from fright, Xiao Muli coldly instructed his subordinates, "Help her up and take her to the courtyard. I’ll be there in a while."
"Yes," his subordinates replied. They then supported Liu Yun and took her to the courtyard.
After dealing with Liu Yun, Xiao Muli looked down and changed his expression, turning to his three little treasures. Pretending to be upset, he said, "What’s going on with you three? Hasn’t your mother taught you not to go off with strangers?"
"We know that, but the woman earlier claimed to be our grandma. We wanted to see what she was up to, so we followed her out," Xiao Xuyang explained to his father.
"Dad, was that woman really our grandma?" Xiao Shiyao voiced the question that was on the other two’s minds.
Although Xiao Muli disliked his mother’s actions, he couldn’t deny that Liu Yun was indeed his mother. After thinking for a moment, he said, "Yes, that woman is Dad’s mom, your grandma."
"Then Dad, why does grandma seem to dislike us so much? We saw the way she looked at us; it was as if she really wished we didn’t exist," Xiao Xuyang inquired.
Xiao Muli knew how sensitive his three treasures were to emotions. "This is an issue between the adults; it doesn’t have anything to do with you. Remember this well for the future—you can’t just follow strangers," Xiao Muli finished speaking just as Situ Jin arrived on the scene. Xiao Muli handed over the three little treasures to Situ Jin as he himself needed to rush back to the courtyard to handle matters.
On his way to the courtyard, Xiao Muli called his father, Xiao Guobing. This matter truly required the presence of his father. As the saying goes, ’a tiger doesn’t eat its cubs,’ when Xiao Muli learned of his mother’s plot from his subordinates, the murderous intent in his eyes could not be concealed. He never imagined his mother could be so ruthlessly cruel. She had actually found child traffickers and then taken her daughter and son from school to hand them over to these people, intending for them to be sold to some remote, secluded villages.
"Dad, what do you think we should do about this?" Xiao Muli did not alert the family, not even Situ Xin, but instead called his father Xiao Guobing to the Xiao Family’s compound.
Looking at the evidence of what Liu Yun had intended to do presented before him, Xiao Guobing was filled with deep sorrow and indignation. How could Liu Yun be so malicious? How could she lay hands on her own grandchildren? Even though he wanted to speak on her behalf in front of his son, to say something favorable, now he simply couldn’t bring himself to do it. "Muli, you handle this matter, I have no objections."
As soon as Xiao Guobing spoke, Liu Yun’s face turned deathly pale. If she weren’t being propped up, she would have lunged at Xiao Guobing and viciously scratched at him. "Xiao Guobing, what do you mean by this? I am your wife, how can you say such a thing?" After yelling at Xiao Guobing, Liu Yun turned her screeching towards Xiao Muli: "Xiao Muli, you ungrateful wretch, I am your mother, the one who carried you for ten months and gave birth to you, you cannot treat me this way."
Liu Yun’s shrill screams were met with nothing but a cold gaze from Xiao Muli. It was Xiao Guobing who, faced with Liu Yun’s accusations, unleashed the resentment that had been festering in his heart for years: "Liu Yun, you still have the nerve to tell me you’re my wife. Look at yourself, what have you done as a wife over these years? And you, yelling at Muli that you’re his mother, but look at what you have done today. You were actually ruthless enough to contemplate selling our grandchildren—Muli’s daughter and son—to a remote mountain area. How heartless must you be to do such a thing? Now that I think of it, it terrifies me. I don’t even know how I managed to live with a venomous woman like you for so many years."
The more Xiao Guobing spoke, the more he felt useless. Previously, he had been ensnared by the false happiness spun by Liu Yun and gradually alienated from his parents and his son. Now, he was finally waking up to the truth.
After finishing his piece, Xiao Guobing simply said to Xiao Muli, "Do as you see fit, I have no objections," and left.
Although Xiao Muli had little affection for his mother and today’s event had extinguished the last bit of familial affection he had for her, he looked at his mother, who now appeared so loathsome, and said coldly, "I really don’t understand how your heart works. Those are your own grandchildren, and yet you could entertain such a thought. It’s truly disheartening."
"You still talk; I was driven to this by you and your father. I don’t know what kind of spell that slut Situ Xin has cast over you to make you both so infatuated. It’s clear that you never cared for your mother in your heart, and these last few years, your father has been treating me like a venomous creature. Since you’re all treating me this way, what does it matter if I sell those three brats?" To this moment, Liu Yun had not an ounce of remorse.
Xiao Muli did not want to say anything more to her. He waved his hand to his subordinates, signaling them to take Liu Yun away.
After all, Liu Yun was Xiao Muli’s mother. No matter how much hatred he felt toward her, he couldn’t deal with her as he would with other people. He could only find a place to send her to, and then have his subordinates watch her 24/7, to prevent her from harming his family again.
Xiao Muli had initially thought that he would deal with the situation himself and had not planned to tell Situ Xin or the family. However, when he returned home, he found the whole family sitting there waiting for him.
"Muli, where is Liu Yun?" Old Master Xiao’s face was especially grim. When he heard that his great-grandchildren mentioned that a woman claiming to be their grandmother had come looking for them that afternoon, his expression darkened. He knew Liu Yun was up to no good, and her silently going to his great-grandchildren’s school was surely not anything simple.
Xiao Muli was taken aback by Old Master Xiao’s question and then looked at the three little ones—who were currently sitting between the Old Madam and Old Master Xiao, doing their work, and occasionally making faces at him—and understood that it was his three little treasures who had inadvertently spilled the beans at home. "She has been sent away."
