The Spare's Second Chance in Apocalypse-Chapter 226: Ch : Caught- Part 3
Chapter 226: Ch 226: Caught- Part 3
Selene led Noah down the dimly lit corridor, her steps sure and steady.
The cold air of the underground dungeon wrapped around them, making Noah’s skin prickle. He felt a lot more nervous walking behind Selene than he did before.
Noah kept glancing sideways at Selene, his mind still processing everything that had happened.
’Disappear.’
Selene wanted to make them vanish—to break them free from the Vale family.
It felt... unreal.
"Are you sure this will work? Father is not easy to fool."
Noah asked softly, his voice barely above a whisper.
Selene’s gaze remained fixed ahead.
"I have a plan."
She murmured, her tone leaving no room for doubt.
Noah’s heart clenched. He didn’t want to doubt her. But a small part of him couldn’t shake the feeling that this plan might backfire.
They stopped outside a reinforced door, and Selene pressed her palm against the scanner. A low hum echoed as the system verified her identity and unlocked the door.
"Ethan already brought Nora here."
She said quietly, pushing the door open.
Noah stepped inside—and immediately wished he hadn’t.
"Idiot."
Nora’s sharp voice sliced through the air like a blade.
Noah winced, turning to see his twin sitting on a cold metal bench against the wall. Her arms were crossed, and her expression was a mixture of irritation and disappointment.
"You got caught already? Seriously?"
Nora’s tone was dripping with disbelief.
Noah’s jaw clenched.
"Like you did any better!"
He shot back, irritation bubbling to the surface.
Nora’s eyes narrowed.
"At least I had a good reason! Ethan is a higher rank and way stronger than me. I didn’t stand a chance."
She snapped.
Noah scoffed, crossing his arms.
"Bullshit! You’re just making excuses."
He muttered, his tone filled with disbelief.
Nora’s eyes flashed with anger, and for a moment, Noah thought she might lunge at him.
"Oh, so now you’re an expert on my situation?"
She shot back, her voice rising.
"I’m just saying. If I’m an idiot for getting caught, then what does that make you?""
Noah growled.
Nora’s jaw tightened, and her eyes narrowed even further.
"At least I didn’t hesitate!"
"You think I wanted to hurt Selene? I couldn’t do it, Nora. I... I couldn’t."
Noah’s voice cracked slightly, frustration bleeding through.
Their argument echoed through the small space, growing louder by the second.
Bang.
A sharp, resounding slap echoed as Selene’s palm struck the cold metal wall.
The twins froze.
The sound reverberated in the stillness, sending a jolt through both of them. They turned, their eyes locking onto Selene.
Her expression was calm, but there was an unmistakable edge to her voice.
"That’s enough nonsense"
Selene said quietly, her gaze sharp and unwavering.
Noah and Nora exchanged a quick glance, both of them realizing they had pushed too far.
"Sit."
Selene’s tone left no room for argument.
They obeyed immediately, their previous anger evaporating as the weight of the situation settled over them once more.
Selene crossed her arms and leaned against the wall, her dark eyes scanning both of them.
"We don’t have time for petty arguments. If we’re going to do this, I need both of you to focus."
She said firmly.
Silence filled the room, tension thick in the air.
"Do what exactly?"
Nora finally asked, her voice quieter but still carrying a hint of skepticism.
Selene’s expression softened, but her determination remained.
"I’m going to make you both disappear."
She said calmly.
Nora’s brows furrowed, suspicion flickering in her eyes.
"Disappear?"
Selene nodded.
"If Father thinks you’re dead—or at least missing—he won’t waste resources looking for you."
Nora’s gaze sharpened.
"And how exactly do you plan to pull that off?"
Selene’s lips curled into a faint, knowing smile.
"I’ll create a believable accident. One that no one will question."
Noah’s eyes widened slightly.
"An accident?"
Selene nodded.
"It has to be something that leaves no trace. Something that makes it impossible to find you."
She murmured.
Nora’s expression remained guarded, her mind already racing through the possibilities.
"And you think Father’s just going to buy that?"
She asked, her tone laced with doubt.
Selene’s gaze met hers head-on.
"He won’t have a choice."
The confidence in her voice sent a shiver down Nora’s spine.
She’s serious.
Nora’s instincts screamed at her that Selene wasn’t bluffing.
But...
"Even if you pull this off, what happens after? Where do we go? What do we do?"
Nora murmured, her voice softer now.
Noah’s gaze flickered between them, his mind spinning with possibilities. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
"We can start over."
Noah said quietly, his voice laced with something Nora hadn’t heard in a long time.
Hope.
"I’m tired, Nora. Tired of living under their thumb. Tired of being used."
He murmured, his eyes filled with a vulnerability he rarely showed.
Noah’s hands clenched into fists, his knuckles turning white.
"I never had the courage to leave. But now..."
He admitted softly.
His gaze shifted to Selene, a spark of determination lighting in his eyes.
"Now I want out. For good."
Nora’s heart clenched at his words.
He’s serious.
Her twin had always been the cautious one. The one who played by the rules.
For Noah to say this...
Nora’s gaze shifted to Selene, her mind battling between logic and instinct.
"I..."
She hesitated, her walls still partially up.
But deep down, something in her gut told her Selene wasn’t lying.
This might be our only chance.
"Do you really think this will work?"
Nora’s voice was barely above a whisper now.
Selene’s gaze didn’t waver.
"I wouldn’t offer this if I wasn’t sure."
She said softly.
For a long moment, silence filled the room.
Then—
"Alright."
Nora’s voice was steady, but her eyes carried a trace of lingering doubt.
"I’ll cooperate."
Selene’s expression softened, a hint of relief flashing in her eyes.
"Good."
Noah let out a quiet breath, the tension in his shoulders easing.
They had a chance now.
A dangerous, risky chance.
But a chance nonetheless.
"Then we’ll do this."
Selene murmured, her voice filled with quiet resolve.
"For all of us."
