To His Hell and Back-Chapter 182: Keeping An Eye
Chapter 182: Keeping An Eye
Cassius’s red eyes stopped at Malvo, gouging his human brother who had completely shown his smirk while mentioning Arabella’s name in his mouth. He might have doted Malvo a little and now the young man thought they were comfortable enough for him to start laying his dirty paws on his people.
"Don’t look at me as if you already imagine in what way I should meet death," sighed Malvo as he shook his head dramatically, "I did nothing. But how about I tell you what I saw?"
Cassius crossed his arms, "You mean to say that there is a good reason why you had talked to her without my permission?"
"Of course! I have never overstepped my boundaries, brother Cassius. I know my worth and I know that you don’t like your possession be touched by someone else that isn’t you," Malvo shrugged his shoulders with confidence but Cassius wasn’t amused. He thought about choking Malvo, wondering if by doing so it would quicken Malvo’s explanation out of his mouth as he was dawdling far too long. "Alright, alright," he sighed, "Do you know minister Rueben has gotten a human pet despite deep down despising humans?"
"Did he now?" Cassius was far too busy to care which minister took which human pet but now that it was pointed by Malvo, he narrowed his eyes in questions as he also knew like the rest of Versailles how much minister Rueben had killed humans. Rumors even had it that when he found a human couple so loving and so happy, he would have the urge to violate the wife in front of the husband before eventually killing both.
He was the type of scumbag that should have been put behind bars. Cassius had almost succeeded in putting death sentence but unfortunately the Queen who rather fancy his violent nature had protected him and made someone else take the blame instead. If not for his help that scapegoat would have face death but now he should be living well far from Versailles while the Queen thought she had succeeded.
The fondness that the Queen shows even made Cassius to question whether the Queen and Rueben has a relationship a step further than just a mistress and its loyal peacock. There was something that tied both Queen Morgana and minister Rueben together. Cassius hadn’t found out what it is but he knew for certain the truth can’t be buried for too long and it won’t be soon until they all find out what had truly happened.
Cassius however showed no change on his expression as he hummed, "He does hate humans but perhaps he thought keeping a livestock near him is far more comfortable. It doesn’t matter which since it doesn’t bother us, does it?"
Malvo clicked his tongue trice and grinned, "I understand you never care about the castle’s dramas but I know Rueben enough to tell you that he didn’t take that human pet out of a coincidence. The human pet is someone who knows Arabella."
Cassius uncrossed his arms and narrowed his eyes, "How do you know this?"
"Well I talked to a few human slaves in the dungeon. They were all willing to tell me everything including how Miss Arabella only made 2 friends the entire time she was in the dungeon. One is named Iliza and I’ve met her before accidentally though that one glance could tell me enough of her greedy nature that she tries to suppress within her."
"And that human pet is the one who minister Rueben had taken with him." Cassius concluded. If it was one of the human pet who is also friend with Arabella... Cassius knew about them. He especially knew the one who had shouted back at her despite Arabella trying her best to save her. That one must be Iliza, the one that had became minister Rueben’s pet.
"But here is the catch," said Malvo with a smile, "Minister Rueben and Iliza aren’t in a good term as before Iliza had been whipped by Rueben for just standing on his way. But one day Iliza became his pet and from this I can conclude that they hadn’t become a master and a pet due to interest. Rather, it’s due to them having an aligned goal. A symbiotic relationship where they help each other from getting rid of another’s enemy."
"Alright," Cassius leaned to the wall of luscious green leaves and nodded, "So you’re saying that Iliza and Rueben’s goal is to hurt Arabella." freewёbnoνel.com
"Yeah! I’m sure about this. Especially I find it odd how even though Rueben has always been like a fox who never forget their grudges would suddenly retreat from Arabella. It could be because he fears you, but knowing Rueben he would have not just given up the way he did toward Arabella. It’s not because he fears you, rather it’s because he is finding the best way and chance to hurt Arabella and get back at her without receiving any backlash."
Cassius knew of minister Rueben’s cowardly nature. In front of others he put an image of someone fearless, someone who doesn’t care if his enemy is the crown prince himself. But one with eyes could tell those lies as he would use people to provoke him never trying to do it with his own hands as he knew the repercussion wasn’t something he could ever come to handle.
"Anyway the reason why I had came up to talk with Miss Arabella is because I saw that girl Iliza was following behind Arabella closely. It doesn’t seem like she had came to hurt her but her behavior was odd as she followed Arabella around while trying to make sure she would never be caught on sight by her. Like someone who was sent there to keep a tab and my worry is that Rueben was the one who put her up to it."
"That woman is greedy as you say and greedy people tends to envy anyone they see even if the reality proves that the person has lesser happiness compared to them," Cassius muttered to find Malvo looking at him blinking in confusion. He sighed and simplifies his words, "Whatever the case may be, that woman is dangerously. Keep an eye on her, I trust you Malvo."
Malvo who received Cassius’s words broke into an immediate smile as he bowed, "And I promise not to let your trust down, brother."
