Chapter 606 – Disputes

Author: Eguchi Ren

Gumihou: Hello everyone~ Sorry for the late upload. As some of you may know, we have reached the end of the raws in chapter 625. At first, I was at a loss on what to do and decided to write fanfictions so that we can still get our weekly fix. However, I don’t think it’s right to hold the other 20 chapters from my readers, especially since I have already translated them.

So.

I have decided to post the translated chapters per the schedule as much as I could and put the fanfictions in the back, hehe. In other words for every translated chapter that is released, there will be a fanfiction posted after chapter 625. If Eguchi-san uploads anything, the chapter will be posted as usual.

For now though, please enjoy this chapter as well as the fanfictions HERE!

That night, after everyone else had gone to bed…

“Right, let’s get to it.”

To be honest, I would seriously like to go to bed too, but considering how intense yesterday’s ordering session was, I had better quickly had over the goods to the pantheon so that things won’t become a hassle later.

“Um, is everyone there?”

A chorus of ‘There you are!’ and ‘We have been waiting!’ answered me as though they had all been standing on edge for me to respond.

“That’s right! I can’t survive without my sweets here!!”

For some reason, Ninril-sama sounded rather angry today.

“What the heck are you talking about? Enough with the glaring, didn’t I apologise already?” Agni-sama sounded oddly resigned.

“Humph. I have decided not to speak to Agni for a while.”

“Hey, Ninril~”

“Humph!”

For someone who just said they won’t speak to a certain person, they seemed to be paying extra attention to the other person…

Whatever, none of my business. Let’s just get to the offering and go to bed as soon as possible. Putting thoughts into action, I quickly took out the boxes of cakes and desserts and set the lot on the table.

“Ahem, this is Ninril-sama’s order. Please accept it.”

“Muho~! Cakes~ Dorayaki~! Great me’s sweetness have all arrived~♪ Thank you~”

That was a great 180-degree change in mood.

“Now, let’s go home and enjoy these~! Humph!”

For someone who said they don’t want to speak with Agni-sama, she sure is putting in a lot of extra effort to make sure they know it. How childish.

“Stop paying attention to Agni-chan. Next up is me,” said Kishar-sama.

Oh? Kishar-sama sounded a little angry too.

“Hey, what’s with that attitude, huh~?”

Agni-sama sounded… more cajoling than annoyed. What an odd response.

“You said something truly unforgivable,” was Kishar-sama’s curt response.

“Oi, didn’t I already apologise?”

“There are some things that cannot be resolved with mere verbal apologies. I was really hurt by it.”

“Aren’t you over-exaggerating things? Haha~”

I have seen this response in my friends and TV dramas. All I can say is… That was the absolute wrong response, Agni-sama.

“This… humph! I do not appreciate Agni-chan’s lack of tact! I shall not speak to you for a while!”

Another one, eh? I guess Agni-sama had really put her foot into her mouth this time. Anyway, none of that had anything to do with me. Let’s move things along quickly.

I hurriedly placed the small cardboard box on the table and put my hands together, “Kishar-sama, please accept this offering.”

“Thank you~! From now on, I shall pay even more attention to my skin. I shall never let anyone say the word ‘wrinkle’ around me ever again!”

Then, I heard the retreating thumps of a set of very dignified footsteps rapidly walking away.

Well, at least Kishar-sama has the special retinol eye cream to enjoy later.

“What the heck~ what’s with that glare~” Agni-sama said in an aggrieved voice.

Humm, from what I could gather, Agni-sama must have said something about the other two goddesses’ appearances. Even though they were goddesses, a woman’s beauty is a sensitive topic. I have learned this lesson well from my older sister.

Ah, even now I tremble at the memory of her angry face…

Whatever, since the anger of the goddesses was not directed at me, it has nothing to do with me!

I was in the middle of moving Agni-sama’s cases of beer when Ruka-sama said, “Agni was bad.”

“Wait, are you blaming me too? I know Ninril and Kishar are kind of sensitive, but I told them nothing but the truth!”

Agni-sama… sometimes, the truth is not the best thing…

From Ruka-sama’s sigh, I could tell that she was thinking the same thing.

“You! Other-worlder too! You really think that honesty is bad?!”

[1] “Well…” said one of the two gods.

“I guess there’s nothing bad about being honest…”

“Ah, but the problem is that honesty could sometimes get one into trouble,”

“That’s right, that’s right, Agni lacks tact.”

“Gunununu…”

“I think it may be best for Agni to learn tack and train her mind rather than just her body.”

“That’s right, people who can’t read the room will be hated,” Ruka-san chipped in.

“Guuaaahhhh–!! I can’t believe even Ruka is doing this to me~!!!”

Ah, well, like I said. Nothing to do with me. “Ahem, here’s your beer…”

“Ah! It’s here! It’s here! I’m going to drink to my heart’s content tonight! You are my only friends now, uwaahhhhh!!!”

… dramatic much?

“I do hope she doesn’t forget everything after all that alcohol,” said Ruka-san in that eerily serene way of hers.

It was kind of scary actually.

“Gahahaha! That training-loving idiot!!”

“Bwahaha! To think that she would be lectured by the youngest!!”

“Do refrain from criticising Agni. Hephaestus and Vahagn are the same. None of you have enough tact.”

Woah, what a blow. Not even the gods could say anything against Ruka-sama’s matter-of-fact statement. Honestly, I felt rather awkward listening to actual gods and goddesses quarrelling like a bunch of teenagers. It felt kind of blasphemous. Can’t you guys do that out of my hearing?

“Ahem, Ruka-sama’s offerings are ready. Please accept them.”

Let’s keep pretending to be invisible.

“Thank you,” said Ruka-sama in her gracious voice. “I shall return to the temple and enjoy the ice-cream.”

“Yeah!” I said a little too chirpily, “You do that, Ruka-sama!”

Once the sound of light footsteps disappeared, I coughed and said, “Hephaestus-sama, Vahagn-sama, your offerings are ready.”

The two of them had been so shocked that they did not pester me about giving them their whisky as usual. In fact, I had to call them twice more for their attention.

“Ah, ou, apologies for that scene…”

“Indeed, thank you for the offerings…”

“Don’t mention it,” I said awkwardly.

“God of War, I feel like drinking something good tonight.”

“Ou! Let us drink all night, God of Smithy!”

My offering spree ended after I presented Demiurgos-sama with his saké and canned food snacks.

Speaking of which, Ruka-sama is really the youngest? I thought her voice sounded rather childish, even though her words were the most mature and well-thought-out. Wait, if that’s the case, did the wisdom of gods and goddesses deteriorate over time?

No wait, there’s the God of Creation, isn’t he super old?

No, no, he does act childish sometimes, so maybe…

Gaahhh!! Let’s not think about it anymore.

Sleep, let’s sleep well tonight!

[Gumihou: Adjusted the ending]

[1] I think these lines were meant for Ruka-sama? But it was too much at once, so gave away some of the lines to Hephaestus and Vahagn. Deleted the ‘actual lines’ from the gods later because it was just repeats of what ‘Ruka-sama’ had already said.
