Transmigrating to Modern Earth from the Future-Chapter 63: The final fight (2)
Chapter 63: The final fight (2)
The dust cleared, revealing the wolf with it’s enraged eyes piercing straight through the space of the cave right at Lumen’s own eyes.
A shiver was sent down his spine as he looked at the wolf’s state. The place where his Fire bolt had hit was obvious due to the scorch marks left behind by it, it’s mouth. Only not a single bit of severe damage could be seen on the beast from the spell, as Lumen reconstructed what happened in the moment’s prior his Fire bolt hitting.
’I have never seen a beast so fast, did this monster really just dispel most of the power of my Fire bolt simply by clamping down in it with it’s powerful jaws...? Is this what the power of an E tier beast is like...? I want it! I want this level of power for myself! Give it to me, let me take it!’
Lumen realised how the wolf had blocked the power of his fire bolt and his awe at the power of an E tier beast only made him hunger for more power of his own, wishing to reach the same level and even surpass it.
Much like the Shadow wolf, Lumen entered somewhat of an enraged state of his own, only not fuelled by anger or resentment, only the desire and greed for such power permeated his mind and body as he had inadvertently surpassed the limits of his stats and increased his speed to near that of the boss, closing the distance between them of his own volition this time.
Instead of relying on his magic attacks, this time Lumen opted for good old fashioned close quarters combat and met the wolf head on with his spear and continued the assault to the monster with even more vigor and power than before.
He dodged more blows and landed more hits than before with his increased speed and strength, slowly accumulating damage on the boss while receiving a similar amount in counterattacks himself.
As he was about to be struck by black condensed claws surpassing the power of any he had faced before, he once again activated Shadow Blink, only this time his destination was different.
Expecting Lumen to have teleported behind it once again, the wolf was shocked to find that he had decided to be so bold to teleport directly on top of it’s back. It didn’t take such mockery with ease as it dropped to the floor and rolled over it’s back to the side, attempting to flatten Lumen in one go.
Of course Lumen wouldn’t perform such a bold and risky move without a plan and easily thwarted the wolf’s plan by once again casting Fire infusion on his spear and with the full strength of his whole body, drove his spear straight down into the spine of the wolf, exerting strength past his limit as his blood vessels burst and blood poured from his nose and eyes from the strain.
But his efforts didn’t go into vain as the wolf let out a howl containing it’s fury and pain as it writhed around the cave, shaking Lumen off it’s back along with the flaming spear embedded in it’s back.
Although it’s frenzied state was successful at throwing Lumen away from it, the rapid movements only caused the wound to open up even more, causing an even bigger and deeper cut to reveal itself when Lumen was thrown off.
Back on the ground, Lumen felt power build up as the wolf got up from the ground. He recognised the strategy the boss was using as the same as the most recent Elite had used against him, and not wanting to make the same mistake as last time, he charged in towards the beast in an attempt to interrupt it’s charging.
But one thing he had failed to consider was whether the boss was really using the same type of attack as the Elite had before, however it was too late for him to notice when he came within 5 metres of the wolf.
Instead of the charged attack he expected, the wolf released a great shockwave containing a shocking amount of energy outwards in all directions from it’s body, sending Lumen and everything else in the surroundings flying in the opposite direction.
Lumen’s own attack met the shockwave yet it did little to stop it.
The attack from the boss seemed to have shook the entire dungeon, with the dark mana of the wolf clearly winning against Lumen’s own mana.
Silence ensued inside the cavern as the Wolf still recovered from Lumen’s surprise attack on it’s spine, while Lumen’s situation from the shockwave was unknown.
The silence continued for another 10 seconds until movements could be heard where Lumen had struck the wall, with the sound of rubble being moved aside and slight coughing echoing throughout the cave.
Seeing Lumen still alive, the Shadow wolf roared as he released another barrage of dark mana in his direction, forcing him to retreat while in his injured state. The disparity in their mana pools was clear as the Shadow wolf didn’t even look like it was close to running out any time soon, while Lumen looked at his gage and noticed he only had a little 2% of his mana left.
This was the first dungeon boss that Lumen had faced, and likely the first that anyone in the tutorial or perhaps the whole of Earth had faced, and Lumen could only say that it deserved it’s title as the boss.
Overall, it was quite a lot stronger than him and yet he was still standing against it like a madman despite knowing this fact. If it were any other human in the tutorial they would probably be cowering in fear at the sight of the beast, yet after taking on some of it’s most powerful attacks Lumen still stood tall and confident against the beast.
It was unknown where this confidence stemmed from and it even caused the Shadow wolf to remain vigilant while keeping it’s distance from him while trying to recover.
But when 20 seconds passed with no sign of movement from either side, the boss threw it’s vigilance aside and was about to launch one of it’s most powerful attacks towards Lumen, before it stopped suddenly in it’s tracks.
On the other side, Lumen’s face finally revealed a smile.
’It should be happening right about..... now!’
