As soon as the final message appeared, Lumen dropped to the ground and started writhing in pain, jaws clamped together as creaking sounds came from everywhere in his body.

This pain continued for another 8 hours, with Lumen remaining fully conscious the whole time as he feared that if he passed out, he would never open his eyes again...

Finally after 8 hours of constant pain, it stopped entirely.

He was finally given a moment of respite as he went to check his status and see what had changed, but before he could do so, his vision went black.

The second his vision went black, he appeared in another space, a completely white void encompassing his very being surrounded by.... nothing.

Everywhere was empty around him and nothing happened while he tried to comprehend what was happening to him. He was suspended in what seemed like the complete opposite of space, where instead of infinite darkness, there was infinite light.

Seconds turned into minutes as time continued to pass as all Lumen could do was observe and relax his illusory body.

The moment he started to believe that he had died and this was some sort of purgatory or afterlife, he finally received some information that greatly relieved him.

Lumen was in for another shock of his life as he braced for the pain and suffering to return with the incoming evolution to his class inbound.

However, contrary to his expectations, all that happened was the familiar sound of notifications pinging from his system.

With the anticlimactic outcome of his evolution, Lumen was happy to find that just like when he received his class awakening, he could choose the path of his evolution from a list of 4 available classes.

Four options appeared before his eyes, and much like the first time he started going through them one by one.

[1.Experienced Spear Magister - A direct upgrade from the host’s starting class. You have proven yourself adept with the spear and talented with magic, prompting the upgrade to your class being just as exceptional as your talent. Stat bonuses per level: +10 intelligence, +10 Wisdom, +10 Agility, +10 Stamina, +10 Strength, +10 Endurance, +5 Perception, +5 Unallocated stat.]

He had expected to receive something like this when he heard that he could choose the direction of his class evolution. This option seemed just.... ordinary. When he first received his hidden class in the class awakening, there was a lot of fanfare surrounding choosing this class as it deviated from the other five starting classes and even provided quite a lot more stats in comparison to them.

Sure, the stats this class upgrade offered were amazing, with a direct 500% increase compared to his starting class. But this was the first E tier class description he had read and he had no doubt that every class in this tier held similar or maybe even better stat distributions.

[2. Novice Javelin Warrior - Throughout your many battles you have proven yourself adept and accurate with throwing spears over long distances and hitting your target dead on. A class focused on developing the host’s physical skill in spear throwing, treading the path of a true warrior. Your skill with the spear is near genius level and may lead you along the path to the pinnacle. Stat bonuses per level: +6 intelligence, +5 Wisdom, +9 Agility, +11 Stamina, +13 Strength, +12 Endurance, + 4 Perception, + 5 unallocated stat.]

’Nope.’

Lumen didn’t even consider this class as it very heavily hinted that he would have to essentially forfeit his magical abilities if he chose to tread the path described in it, the stat distribution for anything that wasn’t physical was simply abysmal. Although he liked being a warrior and enjoyed the purely physical fights he occasionally had, his magic abilities were quite obviously his most powerful trump cards and he would be a fool to give them up.

[3. Adept Archer - As someone so adept at long range combat with a spear, the convenience of a bow and arrow would be compelling. An archer proves themself in combat by fighting from a distance and acting as a scout. An Adept archer already has some experience in ranged combat and more developed skills than that of it’s basic counterpart. The class is fast and flexible, with a focus on agility over strength. Stat bonuses per level: +7 Intelligence, +7 Wisdom, + 15 Agility, + 10 Stamina, +7 Strength, +10 Endurance, + 14 Perception, +5 Unallocated stat.]

Although more interesting and better stat wise than the previous one, once again the system seemed to misunderstand his intentions for his class evolution. He wouldn’t choose a main focus over his spear or his Magic. He would much rather focus on both at the same time and explore how far this path could take him.

Worrying for the future of his evolutions after the first three mediocre classes, he read through the final option a little nervously.

[4. Virtuous Warmage - The Virtuous Warmage is always poised for combat, seeking out challenge after challenge in order to improve your own skills. To you, war is but a means to an end and the question of morals and ethics doesn’t concern you. Your skill in combat is not something that can be taught, only gained through experience. Every warmage throughout the Fantasia realm is well respected and holds some of the most important positions of power throughout the realm. A class focused on developing both your warrior and mage abilities in conjunction with each other. Stat bonuses per level: +14 Intelligence, +14 Wisdom, + 13 Agility, + 12 Stamina, + 14 Strength, + 13 Endurance, + 10 Perception, +5 Unallocated stats.]

A smile bloomed on Lumen’s face as his wishes were granted, this class nearly perfectly suited his mindset involving the development of his spear and mage skills. From the description, not much was discovered about the class due to how ambiguous the descriptions were. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

But from the final sentences around the status and respect these ’Warmages’ received throughout the realm, as well as the almost insane stat distributions he knew that he couldn’t have received a more perfect class.

He didn’t hesitate in choosing it over the other three, finally returning him to his body as he exited his soul space soon after making his decision.

He filled his lungs with the fresh air of the forest as he felt the newfound power coursing all throughout him.
