Chapter 88: Civilisation

The village was a charming sight to behold, as if plucked from the pages of a storybook. Wooden cottages with thatched roofs dotted the landscape, connected by cobblestone pathways. Vibrant flowers in every hue adorned the window sills, and colourful banners hung from lampposts. It was a place where nature and civilization coexisted.

Lumen approached the village with a mixture of curiosity and cautiousness. He couldn’t help but feel like an outsider in this tranquil setting, a lone hunter entering a world that seemed untouched by the dangers of the Fantasia Realm.

As he ventured further into the village, he listened in on conversations happening between the inhabitants. The villagers were humans, like him, but they had adapted to life in this mystical realm. They spoke of their daily routines, of gathering herbs and rare materials from the surrounding forest, and of the occasional encounters with creatures that dwelled nearby.

The presence of E tier beasts seemed to be a common occurrence for the villagers, something they had learned to deal with as a part of their daily lives. They mentioned the need for brave hunters to protect their community and to venture into the deeper, more perilous parts of the Fantasia Realm.

Lumen’s cautiousness began to ease as he realised that he was not the only human in this realm. The villagers’ conversations hinted at the existence of a community, a society that thrived amidst the challenges of this world. He couldn’t help but wonder if there were others like him, fellow hunters seeking to evolve and become Conquerors.

As he moved deeper into the heart of the village, he noticed a central gathering area, where villagers gathered to share stories, trade goods, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. The scent of hearty meals wafted from a nearby inn, and the sound of laughter filled the air.

Lumen’s presence did not go unnoticed, and curious eyes turned in his direction. It was clear that he was an outsider, a newcomer to their close-knit community. He felt a mix of uncertainty and anticipation as he considered the possibilities that lay before him.

The Fantasia Realm had proven to be a place of wonder, danger, and endless mysteries, and this village was just the beginning of his exploration. With a newfound sense of purpose and the knowledge that there were others like him, Lumen took a step forward, ready to embrace the challenges and adventures that awaited him in this fantastical world.

Lumen continued to move through the village, and as he did, he overheard snippets of conversation mentioning something called the "Hunter’s Guild." It seemed to be a place where people like him, hunters and adventurers, went to take on tasks and quests. These quests typically involved defeating beasts or completing various challenges within the Fantasia Realm.

Intrigued by the mention of the Hunter’s Guild, Lumen decided to investigate further. He asked a passing villager for directions, and with a friendly smile, they pointed him down a well-trodden path that led to the heart of the village.

Following the path, Lumen soon arrived at the Hunter’s Guild. The building was larger and more robust than the quaint cottages of the village, with a grand wooden door adorned with intricate carvings of beasts and adventurers. Above the entrance, a wooden sign proudly displayed the guild’s name.

Inside, the atmosphere was bustling with activity. Hunters of various ages and backgrounds gathered around a central wooden counter where a receptionist, clad in simple yet practical attire, was assisting clients. The walls were adorned with maps, trophies, and posters of creatures that had been hunted and defeated.

Lumen approached the counter, his curiosity piqued. The receptionist, a middle-aged woman with a kind smile, welcomed him.

"Hello there, stranger. You look like you’re new to our village. How can I assist you today?"

Lumen returned her smile and replied, "I am new here, indeed. I heard about the Hunter’s Guild and was hoping to learn more about it. Can you tell me what the guild does?"

The receptionist nodded. "Of course! The Hunter’s Guild is the heart of our village. We gather here to take on tasks and quests provided by the villagers. These quests can range from hunting down dangerous beasts to retrieving rare materials or even assisting with village needs. It’s a way for hunters to earn rewards and contribute to the safety and prosperity of our community."

Lumen was intrigued. This was exactly the kind of opportunity he had been seeking. "How can I become a member and take on these quests?"

The receptionist smiled warmly. "Becoming a member is easy. You simply need to register with us. We’ll provide you with a Guild Hunter’s Badge, which will grant you access to the quests on our board. Once you’ve completed a quest, return here, and we’ll verify your achievements and reward you accordingly."

Lumen thanked her for the information and decided to register as a member of the Hunter’s Guild. After a quick registration process, he received a shiny Guild Hunter’s Badge, which he attached to his attire.

With his newfound membership, Lumen approached a large notice board in the corner of the guild hall. The board was filled with parchment scrolls, each containing a quest with a brief summary of the task and the promised rewards.

He scanned the quests with interest, noting the variety of challenges they presented. Some involved hunting specific creatures, while others required exploration or assistance to villagers in need. Lumen’s eyes widened when he spotted a scroll with the title "The Quest for a D tier Shadow Wolf!"

The brief summary caught his attention: "A newly risen D tier beast, the Shadow Wolf, has been sighted deep within the Fantasia Realm. Hunters are requested to track and eliminate this threat. Generous rewards await those who succeed."

Lumen’s heart raced. It was as if fate had presented him with an opportunity to face the very creature that he had spent so long hunting back in the dungeon, only this time it would be far stronger at the D tier.

He was curious to know how a D tier Shadow Wolf differs from the E tier boss he had defeated in the dungeon back in the tutorial.

There was little hesitation in him choosing this quest to take on, and as soon as he did, a notification opened up on his system interface.
