Chapter 554 BETRAYAL AFTER BETRAYAL

Colton and Eros were training the young warriors that were left behind to help strengthen the protection around the pack, since almost all the experienced warriors were sent to east draghar to help there, as a token of trust from both parties, as they would like to join forces soon.

It sounded like bullshit to those who opposed the alpha's decision. They felt degraded by it and could only grit their teeth, since they couldn't disobey their alpha yet.

But then, in the middle of training, someone called Colton and Eros to come to the main hall because there was something important that the alpha wanted to talk about.

"What do you think it is about?" Colton asked. He was deep in thought, trying to guess what exactly Liam would talk about at this moment.

"It will be the same old song about having a peace treaty with humans and joining forces with the organization." Eros was not interested enough to know all of that, because every day it would be the same tune. "He will let us know the importance of it."

"I wonder what made him change his mind in this case." He remembered how Liam opposed the organization pretty hard in the past. He even took revenge on the organization by taking their leader's daughter as the luna of the pack and treated her badly.

But now, he wanted to make peace with her brother?

"I don't know. He is sick in the head to begin with, so it is hard to know what he is thinking," Eros said nonchalantly. They couldn't go with their plan, because it wouldn't be enough to confront Liam by force knowing the small number of the warriors that were left in the pack. They wouldn't be enough to make a big move.

Meanwhile, their back up plan was still going on right now, but they needed to take extra precaution for that, since they couldn't bring about a drastic change in the alpha's health.

"What is it?" Eros stopped walking and sniffed the air.

Colton stopped walking too and tried to figure out what alerted Eros. "Humans."

"There are so many of them, why are they here?" Eros narrowed his eyes and gritted his teeth.

"A hundred people?" Colton looked concerned by the number of people that had entered their pack and went too deep into the pack house, but no one informed them about this. This could be said as trespassing, but no one reported this. There was no way they missed such a huge thing.

"More. More than that." Eros quickened his steps, as both of them half ran toward the main hall.

Both of them rushed toward the main hall, where the scent of these strangers grew only thicker and stronger. They seemed to have gathered in the main hall.

Two guards opened the door for them and once they were inside, they knew that it was not just in their mind, but indeed, this place had been surrounded by people, humans, while the alpha stood on the tribune. He looked down at all of them.

The tension was so intense the atmosphere grew very heavy.

"What is the meaning of this?" Eros asked in a stern voice. He hated being surrounded by humans, he had experienced it once and he hated these people specifically. The people from the organization.

However, before they could hear the answer, two people moved so fast and clasped something on his and Colton's wrists and at one glance, they knew what it was.

It was the bracelet that would prevent a shifter like them from shifting into their beasts.

"What is the meaning of this?!" Colton roared, he looked at the alpha fiercely. He had never worn something like this and most likely, didn't like the feeling of being helpless without the help of his beast to fight back, especially when they were surrounded by their enemies like this.

"I am the one who wanted to ask that," Liam said firmly. He didn't raise his voice, but his calmness was eerie, it was the only sign that a calamity would befall sooner or later.

"I don't understand, why do you have to do this, alpha?" Colton looked around him. There were a few shifters there, but they were young warriors, while humans piled in this main hall. This gave off an ominous feeling to him.

"Give me the answer for this." Liam threw the list of the traitors, people that had gathered together to discuss how to overthrow him. "What is the meaning of that, gamma Colton?" His eyes found his gamma and he knew that he recognized the names in the list almost immediately, as his eyes hardened. "This is my decision as an alpha, if you are going to disobey my direct order, you better have a good explanation for doing so." 𝑓𝑟𝘦𝘦𝓌𝘦𝑏𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸ℴ𝘮

Colton's eyes fixed on all the names of the warriors on the list. How could that list fall in Liam's hands? Had there been a traitor within them? They seemed so eager to help him and were disgusted by the way the alpha forced this alliance without listening to them.

"Do you know what it meant?" Liam locked his eyes on Colton. "That is treason. You know so well what the punishment for such a crime is, right?" Liam walked closer toward Colton and stopped in the middle of the hall. He clapped his hands and ten warriors entered, they were guarded by the young warriors.

They looked defeated.

Those ten warriors were the people that had signed the list and would join Colton in the coup. They had the same bracelets clasped around one of their wrists as Colton and Eros did. They were unable to shift, unable to fight them all.

They were in a predicament now. They knew what was in the alpha's mind this time for gathering them here and the purpose of these people from the organization to come.

Eros felt his heart fall when he saw Emily standing behind the crowd, she was hiding there, staring at him.

He wished he could tell her to run and not look back, he wished he could use the mind link to tell her about that, but that was not possible.

However, when their eyes met with each other's, Emily lowered her head and avoided his eyes. She somehow looked… guilty?

========================

"Don't worry, the gamma is already there," John told her. His expression was hard to read, but Ariana could already feel something was wrong.

Everything was too late. She knew this too late as Emily just told her about this, dragging it out until the last minute where she and Colton could do nothing.

"Come over here, please," John spoke in an impassive tone, as he grabbed Ariana's arm, but she shook him off.

"Don't touch me," she said fiercely, she swatted his hand away from her and walked ahead. John and the other guard didn't stop her as they both followed behind her to the main hall, where the alpha and a few important figures had been there, waiting for her.

Ariana felt her heart beating in her ears with each step she took closer toward the main hall. She dreaded the fate that was waiting for her behind this door.

She clenched and unclenched her fists against her dress, as she stared at the closed door. She wished she could be strong enough, but she was afraid and this dreadful feeling was so palpable on her face.

Especially when she entered the main hall and saw the warriors that were on their side kneeling in front of the alpha. They looked stubborn, but fear grazed their rebellious features, since they knew what the punishment for their crime was.

Not only that, Ariana also saw Eros and her mate.

Colton looked at her with impassive eyes. He didn't bow down to the alpha, but she knew that there would be no more running away from this, they wouldn't be able to run away from this. Their luck had run out, they had survived so many alphas no matter how the reigns changed.

But it seemed, they wouldn't survive this one.

Colton immediately approached his mate and held her hand so tightly, as he placed her behind his back, as if he could shield her from any harm that would come in their way.

"Eros, come here," Liam said, as he stretched out his hand toward him, but the young lycan glared at him brazenly.

Yet, Liam wouldn't accept such an insolent attitude, especially in front of these people.

"Why don't you come here and be with Emily? She must be afraid to see whatever will happen here." Liam nodded at Emily, who was hiding behind the crowd. "You are not in the list. You shouldn't be with them, but still, I will run an investigation on you."

"Send her away!" Eros growled viciously, which made all the people raise their guns and aim them at him. Inside them must be silver bullets to be able to really knock him down.

Yet, Eros didn't falter. He didn't want to leave Colton and Ariana, so did those people that had supported their idea to stop Liam.

If he had to die, he would die with them rather than become Liam's dog.

However, Liam knew how to make Eros change his mind.

"Sure." Liam nodded and then tilted his head to his left. "Kyle, why don't you take Emily back to her room? You can stay there to comfort her."

Kyle was one of the people on the list, but he was on Liam's side now.
