Venerable Demon King & The Doting Immortal (QT)-Chapter 458: Revenge 4
Chapter 458: Revenge 4
She recalled that night all too well. It had begun with the carefree chatter shared during their carriage ride, laughter spilling out into the chilly air.
But a mere ten minutes later, everything had shifted in the most horrifying way. That night marked her death, plunging her into a realm of cold and darkness. She had hoped to see her mother, but there was nothing... only silence.
The gut-wrenching pain of witnessing her sister crying, holding her tightly as if she could bring her back, pierced her heart. The image of her master, tortured by this very woman, haunted her dreams.
Nights turned into a struggle as she fought against the echoes of Peng Xiu’s crazed smile, an unsettling grin that had twisted in delight as she ripped at her master’s spirit veins.
With a fierce grip, Lian tightened her hold around the hilt of the dagger. She advanced on Peng Xiu, not an ounce of mercy in her heart. Kicking her hard, she sent the woman rolling over as if she were a rag doll. Peng Xiu lay there, seemingly lifeless, her breath shallow.
But Lian wasn’t finished. Without hesitation, she drove the blade deep into Peng Xiu’s thigh. The wretched scream that followed reverberated through the air, a testament to the agony unleashed. Peng Xiu thrashed, hands scrambling to reach for the dagger lodged in her flesh, her body jolting with electric shocks that only added to her torment.
Lian gripped Peng Xiu’s hair tightly, her sneer cutting deep. It felt as if she could pull the woman’s scalp away, such was her fury. With a swift motion, she slapped Peng Xiu hard across the face, the impact sending her vision spiralling into the stars.
Catching her breath, Peng Xiu glared back, rage igniting in her eyes. "I will kill you. I will kill all of you," she hissed, voice dripping with venom. "I will skin you in front of him and make him watch," she added, laughter bubbling up through her madness.
Lian leaned in closer, her expression unyielding. "You only did it once, and that’s all you get," she replied, her voice cold as ice, devoid of mercy or compassion.
Lian withdrew the dagger from Peng Xiu’s thigh, and the woman grimaced in agony, blood and saliva foaming at her mouth. Her veins throbbed violently, a reminder of the pain coursing through her.
Lian twisted the blade gently, contemplating her next move. "We will kill you in each and every lifetime," she said, her voice cold and calm. "And don’t worry... it will be just as painful, if not even more excruciating than this."
With determined precision, Lian cut the side of Peng Xiu’s neck, the blade slicing through flesh with ease. She ensured it was deep enough to hurt but not deep enough for her to bleed out immediately. Unlike Mei, Lian was relentless, intent on making the woman suffer as much as possible.
By the time she was done, Peng Xiu lay sprawled on the floor, her limbs still chained, seeming lifeless. Blood pooled beneath her, a stark contrast to the cold grey of the floor. Lian stood, her own clothes splattered with dark crimson, but she felt no care for the mess.
Turning away, she walked to where Xiang Yu sat, quietly observing the brutal scene unfold. Some would label him a bad father figure for the girls, but in their harsh reality, Lian and Mei had to be tough. They needed to be strong so no one would dare bully them in his absence. His title as the Demon King of the North could only do so much.
"Are you satisfied?" Xiang Yu asked, his gaze steady.
Lian wiped her nose with the back of her hand, smearing the blood on her face even more. "Next time, we should keep her for days so I can torture her longer," she replied, a hint of eagerness in her voice.
Xiang Yu chuckled softly as he took the dagger from her. "Go check on your sister."
"Okay." Lian stole one last glance at Peng Xiu, her eyes filled with disdain, before walking away.
She found Mei leaning against the wall, a cigarette dangling between her fingers as she took a slow puff. Lian’s eyes widened as she snatched the cigarette from her hand.
"Hey! What are you doing?" Mei whispered, surprise evident in her tone.
"Where did you get this?" Lian asked, raising an eyebrow.
Mei glanced at Maurice, who stood a distance away, a look of shock plastered on his face. He was too traumatized to approach them, not daring to disturb the air thick with tension.
To say Maurice wasn’t shaken would be a lie. He had heard all of Peng Xiu’s screams; each cries a haunting echo that resonated deep in his soul. He had seen his uncle, a notorious space pirate, kill men before, but those were quick and painless. This was different. He had just witnessed the torturous slow demise of that vile woman, the prison filling with her agonizing cries. They had butchered her with no hesitation.
Looking at Xiang Yu, Maurice found it hard to reconcile the smiling, kind-eyed man he knew with the merciless figure he had just seen. It was a disturbing revelation.
He didn’t even want to know how exactly Peng Xiu had offended these three. The dark mystery surrounding their vengeance wrapped around him like a heavy cloak, leaving him chilled.
Lian blinked in disbelief as she watched Mei grabbed it from her and take a drag from the cigarette, the smoke curling around her in wisps. This was not the Mei she knew. Lian had always been the one to coax her too goodie shoes sister into committing minor crimes, but seeing Mei smoke was unexpected.
"Who are you?" Lian asked, disbelief painted across her features. "You’re actually doing something bad."
Mei shrugged slightly, an unapologetic smile curling her lips. She pulled out a small container of gum, flipping it between her fingers with a casual ease that surprised Lian.
"Just in case," Mei replied, her tone light.
Lian grabbed it back and took a long drag from the cigarette, the smoke filling her lungs before she puffed it out, a cloud of white drifting into the air.
She coughed, the harshness of the smoke burning her throat. "If we get caught, Master will kill us," she warned, a hint of playful seriousness in her voice.
Mei merely shrugged again, nonchalant and unfazed. Lian then snatched the container of gum from her sister and grinned. "You even thought of everything."
