Chapter 481: Stomping a hater.
Meanwhile, among the cheering crowd, one brave soul stood out. Clutching a holographic display, he hurled insults at Xiang Yu, calling him names that dripped with malice. He called Xiang Yu eveything but a child of god.
He didn’t realize the risk he was taking, especially in front of a group of dedicated auntie fans. These women had camped out for hours just to get a glimpse of Xiang Yu as he passed by.
As Han Xin and Xiang Yu neared, the aunties immediately took notice of the offensive display. With fierce protectiveness, they charged toward the man, handbags and shoes swinging like improvised weapons. He was even stomped on almost losing his ability to have descendants. The cheers around them turned into gasps as the man found himself overwhelmed.
The chaos was sudden, and despite his earlier confidence, the man didn’t stand a chance. He was soon surrounded and taken down under the weight of the relentless aunties, who seemed fueled by their love for Xiang Yu.
It took the police arriving to rescue the unfortunate hater, but even then, he had received a thorough beating. Fearful of the consequences, he slinked away with his pride in tatters, his harsh words drowned out by the enthusiasm of the crowds that celebrated the love and union taking place before them.
The streets buzzed with a vibrant energy as Xiang Yu made his way toward the imperial palace. His hovercar drove above a sea of colour and noise, unaware that someone had faced misfortune because of him.
Instead, he was greeted by a chorus of enthusiastic aunts, their voices rising in a cacophony of joy. They waved frantically, their faces beaming with excitement that radiated off them like sunbeams.
Xiang Yu was the one getting married but the fervour of these spirited women seemed to eclipse his own feelings entirely. He raised a hand in greeting, and the aunties erupted in cheers as if they had just seen their favourite star. Some nearly swooned, caught up in their joy.
Meanwhile, in the hovercar ahead, Han Xin watched the scene unfold. The noise reached him, a wave of adoration that seemed to engulf them both. The sight warmed his heart, laughter bubbling up inside him. He was happy that there such enthusiastic supporters who wanted nothing more than to see them happy. This was why he had several restaurant chains in the imperial capital and the rest of the Republic to serve free food to the citizens so they could also share in their joy.
As the wedding procession finally approached the grand hall, the air bristled with excitement. A luxurious red carpet stretched out, inviting and regal. Han Xin stepped out of the hovercar first. His heart raced as he took in the atmosphere. It was a blend of chaos and celebration, laughter spilling all around him like confetti in the wind.
He glanced back towards the hovercar, where Xiang Yu sat, a look of pure bliss on his features. Han Xin opened the door for his groom, stepping forward into the vibrancy surrounding them. His hand extended toward Xiang Yu to help him out of the car and of course hold his hand.
Xiang Yu took Han Xin’s hand, their fingers entwining as he stepped onto the red carpet. The world fell away for just a moment. But as he moved, he felt a slight tremor in Han Xin’s grip. It was obvious that he was both nervous and excited. Instinctively, Xiang Yu tightened his hold silently reassuring him.
Han Xin glanced at him, meeting Xiang Yu’s gaze through the veil. A soft sigh escaped his lips, mingling with a smile that lit up his whole face. In that brief exchange, the chaos of the day quieted, and everything fell into place.
The drones broadcasting the wedding zoomed in on the couple standing on the red carpet. Xiang Yu stood tall, his crimson robe a cascade of silk embroidered with golden threads that depicted dragons soaring amidst cosmic nebulae. Beside him, Han Xin was a vision of grace in matching ceremonial attire, the phoenix motifs on his sleeves glowing faintly under the light.
The officiator, an elder with a long silvery beard flowing like the Milky Way, knelt by a charcoal pot that glowed with embers. He chanted sacred words in an ancient tongue, his voice resonating with an almost ethereal vibration that harmonized with the distant hum of the galaxy’s core.
Clouds of incense swirled upwards, the aromatic tendrils weaving into the celestial air like prayers ascending to the heavens.
When the chanting ceased, the officiator rose gracefully, his robes swirling around him as though caught in the pull of a gravitational wave. With a solemn bow, he gestured for Xiang Yu to step forward.
Xiang Yu took a deep breath, the weight of the moment palpable. He glanced at Han Xin, who met his gaze with a serene smile, their hands held together. With a firm but tender grip, Xiang Yu lifted his robe, the intricate fabric glinting under the hall’s ethereal lights, and together they began their steps forward.
As their feet touched the entrance to the grand hall, the guests gathered near the massive, ornately carved doors and erupted into cheers. With joyous cries and the clatter of celebration, a cascade of confetti was launched into the air.
The particles swirled and danced around the pair, shimmering in hues of gold and silver, falling so thickly it felt as though they were walking through a galactic curtain of stars.
Inside the grand hall, the atmosphere shifted to one of reverence. The officiator stood at the centre, framed by a massive holographic display of the heavens, constellations slowly rotating in the background. He raised his arms, his voice carrying the weight of tradition across aeons.
"Bow to the heaven and earth," he intoned.
Xiang Yu and Han Xin turned towards the celestial display, their movements synchronized as they bent in a respectful bow. The room seemed to hold its breath.
"Bow to the parents," the officiator commanded. Though in this era their parents were no longer present in physical form, their holographic projections flickered to life, smiling warmly. The couple bowed again, the gesture as profound as if the parents had been there in person.
