Chapter 753 – Miaomiao's Quest for Xiaomao

Miaomiao stood still, watching how Xiaomao kidnapped another NPC to his castle. While the cat was busy, the Summon Points of his side started to increase faster than the red castle's side.

The father let out a sigh and stared at the blue castle. He reviewed what Mu-Nyang had ordered him.

First, Mu-Nyang sealed Miaomiao's cultivation base and decreased his level to 999 so that he could infiltrate this place and prepare a quest for Xiaomao.

However, the Guild War here had a peculiar rule. Unless a player initiated a conversation with the NPC first, the NPC couldn't give any quest. Thus, Miaomiao had to wait for one of Xiaomao's teammates to come to him first.

The main quest types were mostly simple treasure hunt quests, rescue quests, migration quests, and donation quests. Some NPCs might ask for unique items that could be found on the battlefield. They could ask for players to find another wandering NPC. Some might want to become a citizen of the player's guild, or some might shamelessly ask for money.

In exchange for completing the quest, the players would get SP, aka Summon Points. If they were lucky, their guild might receive a buff, which increases the SP generation speed.

Secondly, Mu-Nyang had informed him about the rules of the Guild War. At the beginning of the game, both castles passively generated SP, which could be used to summon guild members into the battlefield. The higher the level, the higher the Summon Points required.

This feature allowed players to be creative. They could simply commission a level-1 player as one of their guild members and order them to go accept quests in the early game.

Still, the amount of NPC rewards depended on the player's level. If the quest initiator was a high-leveled player, the quest reward would be more generous than what a level-1 player could get. This rule was to prevent the silly trick that could ruin the joy of the Guild War.

There was also another rule that prevented this trick. Whenever someone died, they could not be resummoned to the battlefield until the next match. In short, all 1,000 members were precious, and the game forced the players to think twice before using any risky tactic.

Fortunately, the game developers were not that stinky. They allowed a certain class to shine.

Scout-class players obtained a perk in Guild War. If they could complete a quest, they could get double the reward.

There were also other classes with a different buff, such as the thief or ninja class, which generated SP when they managed to infiltrate their enemy's castle. Healer-Class players could resurrect dead teammates, and players with life skills could help regenerate SP as long as they were within their castle.

And lastly, when one of the guilds summoned all 1,000 members, the game would enter the sudden death mode. A monster army would come down from the sky and attack players on both sides until one of them was destroyed.

Mu-Nyang had stressed Miaomiao – There was a high chance that Nian would appear among the monsters, and that cat had the power to kill the real body of the players.

Long story short, Miaomiao had to prevent the sudden death scenario in this match, so Nian couldn't kill Xiaomao.

'How troublesome. I can't communicate with my son, and I can't proactively help him. I guess I'll wait here and draft my quest.'

Miaomiao opened the quest system that he rarely used and injected his thoughts into it. Instantly, the draft appeared, and it was ready to be given to any player.

He looked up to check the situation.

'Alright. What are you doing, son? Why are you hoarding the SP?'

In the sky, the screen showed that Xiaomao had over 1,000 SP, but he hadn't summoned any subordinate to the field, which was a questionable strategy.

Had Miaomiao been in Xiaomao's shoes, he would have sent low-level players to the field and accepted quests from the NPCs first so that his guild could generate or acquire more SP for the long game.

DING

The number of MUNYA Guild's SP suddenly doubled, and the catopus rode out with his flying sword once more.

Miaomiao looked at the Shu Han Guild. After the setback earlier, it seemed that their guild master also started hoarding SP. However, unlike Xiaomao, the Shu Han's guild leader didn't dare to come out and accept the quests from the NPCs.

WHOOSH

WHOOSH

Suddenly, MUNYA Guild's SP decreased, and a brown-haired dwarf rushed out of the castle.

Xiaomao looked at the dwarf. His name was Andrew, and his level was 200.

He was not bad for a vanguard character, but Miaomiao doubted Xiaomao's choice. The dwarf carried a huge stack of crates behind his back as if he was the main character from the Death Stranding game.

The next moment, Xiaomao's SP dropped from 2,000 to zero, and a tall building emerged behind the blue wall.

Miaomiao immediately turned toward the building as he recognized its aura. It was the Divine Gas Refinery, which he had built during the final beta test war game.

Then, the commentators blabbered again.

"The refinery! Xiaomao chose the refinery over summoning his guild mate!" Pan Mei screamed.

"So this is MUNYA Guild's strategy. The guild master takes risks by coming out and accepting all quests by himself. When he has enough points, he built the Refinery to accelerate his SP income and unlock other defensive buildings. Now, the question is, what is his guild member doing out there with a huge stack of supplies?"

"He can't be thinking of building a pylon tower in the open, right?"

Pan Mei's prediction was wrong. The dwarf put down the crate backpack and arranged his supplies. Then, he began crafting something with his tools and materials.

Meanwhile, Xiaomao grabbed another NPC and abducted him back home. A few seconds later, the blue castle gained 500 SP, and the cat came out again.

Miaomiao frowned as he figured out Xiaomao's strategy. The cat always dragged the NPCs that were closest to the red castle and ignored the NPCs near his headquarters.

He was hoarding quests!

'Stinky brat. That can backfire on you! Your opponent can easily figure out the pattern!'

Miaomiao had a headache, worrying about his greedy son. He then turned to look at Andrew, hoping that the dwarf might talk to him to trigger a quest.

Unfortunately, Andrew focused on assembling a steel platform and a strange machine. He totally ignored all nearby NPCs in the area.

"OOOOOOHHHH!!"

Suddenly, Pan Mei's scream interrupted Miaomiao's focus. The latter turned to check the SP Board and noticed that Liu Bei used most of his SP for something.

Miaomiao turned to the guild roster of the red castle and discovered that Jiang Wei's name was missing.

The next moment, the 9th-stage cultivator leaped out of the castle and stood on the castle wall, glaring at the blue castle and Andrew.

"HERE HE COMES! The hired NPC is coming out!" Pan Mei didn't hide his excitement.

The female commentator inserted to inform the spectators, "Yes. All guild leaders can employ NPCs to join their guilds and participate in this event. Liu Bei has prepared many level-900 NPCs for this occasion. Now that a powerhouse has come out, I wonder how Xiaomao and his team will react."

Miaomiao nodded as he wanted to see how Xiaomao would cope with this disadvantageous situation.

Betraying Miaomiao and the commentators' expectations, Jiang Wei didn't go out to attack Andrew, but he stood on the top of the wall, waiting for something.

DING

Again, Xiaomao finished another quest and increased his guild's SP to 1,500.

WHOOSH

Finally, Xiaomao spent 200 more points to call a helper. A black silhouette dashed out of the castle, heading toward Miaomiao.

Miaomiao sized up the person that was rushing toward him. He glanced at the latter's name and level over his head.

Shepherd, Level 200

Shepherd was a handsome man in a dashing black coat, covering his black jeans, a black leather vest, and a black t-shirt. He looked like a typical protagonist in Japanese Anime from afar. However, his weapon choice was odd.

It was a floating water crystal, which was following after him.

Miaomiao tilted his head to the side, confused about what this hidden protagonist's fighting style was.

As Miaomiao was closest to the blue castle, Shepherd came for him. He pointed at Miaomiao's face and waved his hands, telling him to go to the castle.

DING

<Support Character, Shepherd, asks you to follow him to the MUNYA Guild's castle.>

<Do you agree to give your quest to Shepherd?>

<Yes/No.>

'Support character?'

It seemed like this protagonist was not a normal player. Miaomiao smirked.

DING

<You have agreed to give Shepherd a quest.>

The quest content appeared in the quest menu in front of Shepherd. The retainer glanced at the menu to skim through it. Then, he waved his fingers and hastened Miaomiao to walk faster.

Three seconds later, Shepherd frowned as if he didn't understand something. He reopened his quest screen to reread it.

.

Angel of Victory Quest

A mysterious angel wants to participate in the battlefield. If you agree to allow him to fight alongside you, bring him to your castle. However, there is a catch. Your guild master needs to consume a gift from the mysterious angel.

Quest Objective: Xiaomao consumes or eats the gift of the mysterious angel.

Quest Reward: The mysterious angel will participate in this battle as your ally.

Failure Condition: Xiaomao refuses to consume or eat the mysterious angel's gift.

Failure Penalty: The mysterious angel will remove you from the competition.

.

Shepherd turned around and glared at Miaomiao, but he didn't say anything.

Miaomiao revealed his signature smirk. He also didn't say anything, but his expression said it all.

Suddenly, Miaomiao received a sound transmission from the protagonist in front of him.

'You're not one of us. Who are you?!'

Miaomiao resumed his acting. He pretended to be an expressionless doll and walked toward the blue castle's wall.

He secretly replied to Shepherd.

'Cooperate with me if you don't want to die.'
