Cassian checked his status as he made his way back to the city, finally taking a much-needed—and well-deserved—break from the war effort. After all, he'd taken down three cultists, and one of them had even held a rank within the cult known as an Acolyte, a position that, until now, had only shown up on the fourth defensive line.
At the time, Cassian hadn't realized just how big of a deal that was. Acolytes were supposedly blessed by some dark god or whatever those freaks worshipped. As he dug up more info later, things started making sense—like the reason they ate humans. It wasn't just savagery; it was their twisted way of sacrificing humans to their god. Even creepier? Two of Sar's underlings were apparently training to become Acolytes themselves.
Killing them as just a First Circle Warrior made Cassian pretty well-known—and the same went for Simon. Even after almost dying last time, Simon chose to stay behind and was now assigned as the leader of a bigger team. Cassian just hoped he wouldn't lead them into a mess like he nearly did the first time they met.
As for Cassian himself, he was also assigned as a leader of bigger unit, but for now, he was being sent back to rest—and to deliver a message to Katherine about the war armor. Julius had asked him to do it, partly as a way to repay the trust Katherine had placed in him.
He hadn't really minded not telling her before—mostly because he hadn't had the time, and honestly, it didn't seem all that important back then. But now that Julius had reminded him of the trust Katherine had placed in him, a small wave of guilt crept in.
But that was in the past—he was going to tell her now, so there was no point stressing over it. As the carriage rolled toward the Beacon of Knowledge, Cassian opened his system notifications. His sword mastery had leveled up, which was a nice little bonus. Other than that, there weren't many major changes—though one thing did catch his eye. He'd earned some training points for completing a task: meditating four hours a day for five straight days.
With that, Cassian received a few new notifications.
[Trainee Cassian has consolidated his gains, advancing to Circle Warrior. Gale Whispering Sword Style has been mastered to Level 4. Overall Sword Mastery is now at Adept Level 2.]
[New Information and Functions Unlocked.]
[Function Unlocked: Technique Simulation Module, Combat Replay Analyzer.]
Cassian had a rough idea of what these functions might do, but he restrained his curiosity and read further.
[New Information Locked: Gale Whisper Sword Style - New Techniques and First Three Forms. Full Body Massage Mastery.]
It left him confused, as he had expected the information to be about the system and other features, not just additional details on what he already knew. However, when he saw the Full Body Massage Mastery, he didn't care and immediately opened it.
Soon, his mind was flooded with new movements from the Gale Whisper Sword Style—not just a single technique, but a series of techniques strung together into various forms and sequences. He didn't fully understand everything, but he committed it to memory for later.
For now, his excitement was focused on the Full Body Massage Mastery. As he processed the information, a smile crept onto his face. Just then, another notification rang in his mind.
[Half Body Massage Mastery Lv3 has evolved into Full Body Massage Mastery Lv2.]
Cassian was excited—he could now complete the system task he'd accepted earlier. However, he was also confused. The information he'd received about Gale Whisper Sword Style was completely new, even though some of it seemed to relate to the Full Body Massage Mastery. But as far as Gale Whisper Sword Style was concerned, he was still only halfway through mastering it. The new techniques and the so-called "first three forms" were entirely unfamiliar, and they hadn't even been mentioned in the manual he'd received.
"System, where did you get this information about Gale Whispering Sword Style?" Cassian asked, flipping through the manual once again, but there was no mention of the new techniques or forms. He went through it from front to back, but nothing had changed. Confused, he spoke aloud, "There's nothing like that mentioned in the manual here…"
[It's there in the manual. Trainee won't be able to access it unless they reach Grandmaster in Sword Mastery.]
Despite his efforts, Cassian couldn't perceive anything new in the manual, so he decided to focus on the two new system functions instead.
[Technique Simulation Module
Description: The system can now simulate various sword techniques from different styles, which Cassian can observe and adapt. While he can't directly copy the techniques, he can analyze movements and incorporate them into his own sword fighting style.
Cost: 5 Training Points per simulation session]
[Combat Replay Analyzer
Description: This function allows Cassian to review past battles and training sessions in the Training Field. By analyzing his mistakes and moments where his sword techniques could be improved, he gains valuable insight into his combat efficiency.]
Cassian had already guessed the uses of these functions, but reading about them still got him excited. The Technique Simulation Module felt like a cheat—he could study his opponent's styles, simulate them over and over, and gain a deep understanding of them, finding weaknesses along the way. As for the Combat Replay Analyzer, it offered another advantage. He could replay battles he'd fought, which would be like a cheat in itself—if he survived. By analyzing his past fights, he could pinpoint his own weaknesses and figure out what he could have done better to improve.
