After the lingerie shopping spree, it was back to Amber and Mara's turn to occupy my sides as they brought me to another part of the station.

I have a feeling they had already done some research on where the stores were ahead of time because they were quite deliberate in where they were leading me as they took one of the elevators in the centre to go to one of the lower rings before stepping out.

It really felt like I had stepped out onto a completely different world as the streets above had been classy, clean and had sparse foot traffic, the place we had stepped out to were claustrophobic, dark and crowded.

This wasn't even the lowest level I believe, so I'm wondering how the levels lower than this would look.

I would also like to just say that on the floor that we had been on, they had security checkpoints at the entrances which forced us to disarm and even checked that we did not have combat implants or mods which they would deactivate before letting us through.

They had nothing to check for Psionics since, according to Mara, there was not really anything to 'deactivate' a Psionic and if the Psionic really wanted to go wild, no one could stop them aside from another Psionic anyway.

But now on this floor that we got off, there wasn't a security checkpoint and I could see that people were just walking around with their weapons on full display as well.

In fact, I think everyone was armed here.

The girls weren't too concerned and went ahead to bring me to a gun shop that even had someone wearing a suit of power armour guarding the front door.

He watched us as we walked towards the door, his helmet turning to watch us enter the store while his hand kept his autocannon close.

Not sure what good he would serve if we decided to kill his employer while we're inside though… Not that we're planning to do that of course.

The store was a weapons store alright… There were tons of guns and various different equipment on display behind locked cabinets and hung on the walls behind a heavily armoured counter.

They even had an automated turret hanging on the ceiling that was watching the people inside the store menacingly. Not only that, there were several armed guards positioned around the store watching everyone inside.

Despite the security, there were already several other people inside the store browsing the weapons on display, clearly not bothered by the turret that was hanging above their heads nor the guards staring at them.

Guess this was a common sight around here?

Ries pulled me towards the counter where a guy with a mohawk and a cybernetic eyepiece implant was manning it.

He eyed us with his only eye and said nothing until we stood in front of him.

"What can I get you Mercs?" He asked.

I'm surprised that he even knew that we were Mercs but I guess he must have seen the weapons that we were carrying and assumed our profession.

Ries flashed him a big grin, "I want to see your biggest guns and any weapons suitable for power armour!"

Ah, so that's why Ries wanted to come here.

The guy didn't even question us and his eyepiece glowed, showing several words appear on it before a holographic screen appeared in front of us.

"Take your pick. Let me know if anything catches your eyes," He grunted.

Did he make a pun about the fact that he only has one eye but we have two?

Maybe I just misheard…

Ries was scrolling through the screen like a kid that was handed a list of christmas presents, her face one of pure happiness.

"Boss, Boss!! Look, Look!" She beckoned towards me, prompting me to go to her side.

"LXR Laser Autocannons!! These can even melt through the armour of most common models of power armour! We can totally use this on the power armour!"

A scoff came from behind the counter, "Here I thought you knew your stuff… Those autocannons might be top of the line but that's five years ago. The current models of power armour would have armour plating resistant enough to stop them from melting through it. You are so out of your depth."

Ries turned back to look at the one eyed man, "That's only if you use it while it's set to 'power saving' mode. If you change the setting to 'combat' mode, what I said would still be true."

The one eyed man frowned, "What are you even talking about, girlie? There isn't a different mode on that weapon? You're talking out of your ass."

"What? There is one! What are you even saying?"

A laugh came from the other counter from another guy manning the counter, "Hahaha! Hey, I don't know who you are but I'm guessing you hired this girl to bring you around the place or something? She's a scam. Our guy over there has been dealing with weapons all his life. He knows his shit way more than some nobody."

Err… If I had to pick between trusting mohawk one eyed over there or Ries… I would trust Ries hands down.

Ries huffed, "It's you guys who don't know anything! What I said was true!"

The one eyed guy scoffed, "You want to bet on it, girlie? That you can even change the setting on this gun?"

Ries tilted her head at him, "A bet? What do you want to bet?"

"Heh, did you think I wouldn't dare call you out on your bluff? We get little scamps like you in our store all the time thinking you can make fun of our craft on idiots like them."

Hey, I'm offended now… What made you even assume that we were idiots?

Ries huffed, "Fine! What are the terms of the bet?!"

"It's very simple. If you can use one of these LXR Laser Autocannons to melt through one of the stock power armour I have in the store, I'll give you that weapon for free. If you can't--"

"No thanks," Ries interrupted him.

The one eyed guy paused and frowned at him, "I knew you were a fraud, get out of the store!"

Ries scrolled up the list, "I don't want you to give me that cannon if I win. I want this one instead."

She stopped at a certain part of the list and showed him a twin barrelled cannon that seemed to be really big in size.

"If I win, you're giving me this one."

The guy's brows deepened, "Do you even know what you are asking for, little scamp?"

"Mjolnir Industries Justice Model V-2 Heavy Cannon, Double Barrelled Version. Meant to be mounted as static defenses in defensive positions and is used as a mobile artillery piece. Capable of even punching through tanks at a distance. Yes."

"And you know that one of these is expensive as hell? Enough to even buy a dozen of the laser cannons that you had just pointed out?"

Ries tilted her head, "What? You don't think you were right about what you said anymore? You're not even willing to bet on it?"

Ohh… I almost missed this headstrong version of Ries who wasn't afraid to stick it up the asses of people who look down on her, especially when it came to the guns department.

The one eyed guy glared at Ries who simply stared back at him from under her hood that hid her Maochatte features, the rest of the store now looking in our direction to watch how the confrontation would unfold.

The one eyed man was the first to break the silence, "Fine! But if you can't do it, then you're going to buy my entire stock of the LXR Laser Autocannons from me at full price! And if you can't afford it, you're going to sign an indentured servitude contract with the store! How about that?!"

Ries didn't even hesitate, "You have a deal."

The guy started typing into his personal terminal before he pressed something underneath the counter and a false panel slid upwards near us.

"Head there to the shooting range. You will find everything set up there. No funny business. You even do anything that I think is a threat, you will die."

Ries ignored his not so subtle threat and proceeded through the door with us following behind her.

As he had claimed, there was a shooting range there and the laser autocannon had already been set up to be mounted on a tripod pointed at a power armour down the range.

I guess there were either drones or staff down here that he contacted with his personal terminal to set this up.

For them to do this so quickly, I'm assuming this might be a common occurrence here?

Ries walked right up to it, flipped open a panel that was half hidden behind several of the coils that would have been impossible for one to find if you didn't even know where to look, turned the knob that was behind the panel before closing it, then pulled the trigger.

There was a soft hum coming from the autocannon before a single laser blast was fired from the cannon to impact the power armour down the range, leaving a scorching red hole in the chest place.

Ries then turned to look up at the ceiling where a camera was located to huff at it, "Gun please~"

That was so cool~ I wanna pat Ries~
