Chapter 1208: Injured

Sun Mingyue listlessly looked at Deng Datong and in a calm tone, she told, “Do be wary of Zhao Dahe.”

“Noted.” Deng Datong understood what her words meant.

He was actually slightly worried now as Zhao Dahe had killed Altar Leaders before. As such, there was no way he would show mercy to the other disciples of the Church. Originally, he thought he would be able to get Zhao Dahe friendly with him after exchanging a few words as Zhao Dahe was still young. However, from the incident earlier, it was clear that this method was ineffective on Zhao Dahe, and if Deng Datong did not tread carefully, he might end up suffering severe consequences.

Sun Mingyue commented, “You’ve made the wrong move, and your future now seems bleak.”

Deng Datong’s expression suddenly shifted. He forced a smile and asked, “Saint, do you think that he would really dare to break the rules?”

Sun Mingyue calmly answered, “He has an unbending will. Even if he doesn’t break the rules, he might not follow my orders completely. I estimate that he might try some fishy actions, so do watch yourself carefully.”

Although Sun Mingyue was of the opinion that Deng Datong was a shameless person, as the Saint, she had the responsibility to remain fair. She was not supposed to discriminate her followers based on their personalities. As such, even if Deng Datong was shameless to a fault, she could not abandon him. If she had acted otherwise, it would cause her followers to leave, and this would be highly detrimental to the Holy Church.

In order for the Holy Church to be strong, they would need to be tolerant, like the ocean which contained both clear streams and polluted ones. Otherwise, it would not be long before the organization perished.

The ability to manage followers properly was one of the basic requirements that was needed from the Saint.

Deng Datong mentally yelped in pain as he nodded his head.

“Now go, you only have eight days left.” Sun Mingyue asked, “Do you know where Li Hanyan is currently?”

“I’m sure I’ll be able to find her somewhere outside Snow Lunar Pavilion.” Deng Datong chuckled and said, “All I need to do is kill a few disciples of Snow Lunar Pavilion and she’ll definitely come to me.”

Sun Mingyue raised her eyebrow and stated, “Snow Lunar Pavilion is not an enemy that you should simply mess around with. Please be careful. She has a close relationship with Du Feng and she also has ties to Chu Li. Since she’s under his protection, it’s highly likely that you’ll encounter Chu Li as well.”

“I’ll seek his mentorship when the time comes.” Deng Datong laughed it off.

Sun Mingyue mentally frowned when she saw how nonchalant he was about it, but she quickly brushed it off.

She was only responsible for giving orders. As for the specifics of the task, she would leave it to her underlings. She would not interfere, as everyone had their own ways to do things. Heck, there were even times where unorthodox methods were more effective instead.

She shooed him away.

Deng Datong strenuously stood back up and clasped his fists together before leaving.

After leaving the basilica and staggering down the stairs, his expression suddenly took a dark shade. He clenched his teeth tightly, and his eyes looked as if they were spewing flames.

Even a clay doll had limits to its patience. What did that make of Deng Datong, who had always seen himself as tall and mighty? Chu Li had ridiculed him to a great extent earlier and had he not maintained his cool in front of the Saint for his own sake earlier, he would have…

His expression turned even darker.

He wanted to teach Chu Li a lesson, but he was unable to beat him. Instead, Chu Li’s cultivation level had turned out to be shockingly high, and he now realized that he had been underestimating Chu Li!

“Gack!” Deng Datong bent over yet again, spitting out a mouthful of blood.

His face was ghastly pale, like paper. The two energies that were gradually equalizing within his body suddenly spiked yet again. It was as if the two energies had taken a temporary ceasefire earlier, but now, they were back at full swing and the impact was even greater this time.

The two energies constantly clashed, which in turn had caused his organs to feel all jumbled up. He no longer felt like his body was his own, as it was now completely dominated by the energies which were colliding against one another unrestrained.

“Gack!” He spewed more blood before falling limply onto the ground.

He was currently at the apex of Great Light Peak. Fierce gales assaulted his body, and the frigid air was as sharp as a blade.

Earlier, when his inner energy was still at its peak, he had utilized the energy to shield his body, preventing the cold from getting close to him. However, he was now extremely weak, and as such, the cold air was beginning to seep into him. Before long, his lips had been frozen shut, and his body had become paralyzed.

Panic was beginning to settle in. Should this situation continue, he would freeze to death by teatime.

“Senior Brother Deng?” The lady in green clothes, Du Ying was coincidentally walking by when she noticed him in his abnormal condition. As such, she stopped what she was doing and approached him.

Indeed, she was the same green-clothed lady that had brought Chu Li back earlier.

Deng Datong could no longer speak. The muscles on his face had already frozen stiff, and all he could do was move his eyeballs to express his panic.

Alas, to someone unfamiliar, it was hard to discern the meaning behind his eye movement. Du Ying looked at him in confusion. She noticed that he was not moving, and his expression was contorted in agony, but she dared not touch him, as he looked as if he was possessed by the devil.

She looked around to her surroundings and noticed that there was no one approaching.

“Senior Brother Deng, wait here for a moment. I’ll call someone over,” the lady in green said.

At that moment, Deng Datong was mentally shrieking in panic. He will truly freeze to death if the situation continued any longer!

This was turning into a huge joke.

He mentally cursed at Chu Li, as the technique Chu Li unleashed on him was extremely vicious. Wave after wave of shockwaves were emanated, and should the situation continue, he would really die. ‘Is that Zhao Dahe really that audacious? Does he really wish to kill me!?’

“Senior Brother Li!” Du Ying yelped in excitement.

A middle-aged man walked over. In a low tone, he asked, “Junior Sister Du, I’m here to meet the Saint. What are you…?”

“Senior Brother Li, hurry up and take a look at what’s happening to Senior Brother Deng!” Du Ying pointed at the shivering, green-faced Deng Datong who lying on the ground.

The middle-aged man, Li Qubing took a glance at him. “Oh, he’s hurt.”

“Hurry up and save him then.” Du Ying urged.

Li Qubing replied, “It’s best not to mess around with him in this kind of situation!”

Deng Datong cursed inwardly. ‘Damn you, Li Qubing! You’re not going to save a dying man? Aren’t you fussing over this too much?!’

Du Ying asked, “Then what should we do?”

“Just give him a spirit pill,” Li Qubing stated calmly. “It might give him a boost.”

“Oh yeah. Alright, I’ll give him a spirit pill.” Du Ying hurriedly nodded her head as she dug out a ceramic bottle from her sleeve. “I only have Fortifying Pill on me. Let’s see whether it can assist Senior Brother Deng by boosting his inner energy.”

“Sounds good,” Li Qubing commented.

Du Ying stuffed the Fortifying Pill into Deng Datong’s mouth.

Deng Datong was already close to being completely frozen and his mouth could no longer be opened. As such, Li Qubing forcefully opened his mouth and pressed hard on Deng Datong’s mandibles, leaving clear fingerprints. Despite that, Deng Datong was unable to feel a thing as his nerves were already paralyzed.

The moment the pill entered his body, Deng Datong could feel both the Yin and Yang energy suddenly surging.

Since both energies stemmed from the same source, the Fortifying Pill had enhanced both energies. It was as if new life had been breathed into the energies, and Deng Datong’s torment had been intensified, causing crushing damage to his organs.

“Gack!” Deng Datong spewed blood yet again.

Now that he could no longer open his mouth, the blood streamed down from the corner of his mouth instead.

“Senior Brother Deng!” Du Ying jumped in shock and hurriedly turned to look at Li Qubing.

Li Qubing frowned. “It seems that he has sustained heavy injuries. We can’t treat him here. Let me carry him down and see whether his situation improves.”

“Alright.” Du Ying immediately agreed to his suggestion.

Li Qubing continued, “Junior Sister Du, you should follow me as well.”

“Umm… this isn’t necessary, right?” Du Ying asked.

Li Qubing shook his head. “I have past grievances with this punk. I won’t be able to explain myself if he dies on me.”

“Fine then.” Du Ying joked, “But still, I don’t believe that you’ll kill him even though you had a skirmish with Senior Brother Deng in the past.”

“That’s true.” Li Qubing nodded. “Sure, Old Deng might be shameless, but our grudge isn’t that huge.”

While he spoke, Li Qubing grabbed Deng Datong by his collar and drifted downward along with Du Ying. Before long, they were halfway down the mountain and in front of a courtyard. It was Li Qubing’s courtyard.

The moment they stepped into the courtyard; the atmosphere suddenly turned warm. It made a great contrast in comparison to the howling winds at the peak.
