Alma's POV
----
The heavy wooden doors of the Reiss Chapel groaned shut as the last of Alma's guards stepped outside. Their departing footsteps echoed through the stone walls before fading into silence.
Inside, Three people remained. The first, being Alma who currently had her eyes wide open.
'Did .... Did she just say ... Fritz?' The woman thought. 'As In, the ...'.
"Lord Reiss," Her thoughts were interrupted by Dina. "I am the last true member of the royal family beyond these walls. I am an Eldian. A subject of Ymir with Royal blood, Just like you."
'... by The Walls ...' The brown haired female thought, inwardly stunned. For a moment, Many things seemed to click.
'If what she's saying is True, then ... it explains why she has the same gift as The Royal Family ...'. Alma thought.
The original Royal Family change their names from Fritz To Reiss. This was kept secret from the vast Majority of the citizens and The Military.
It was Different for The First Interior Squad. Officers who directly served the king and, by default, knew the True rulers of The Walls. If this woman bore their True name, then it explained why she held their power.
The power that made them gods.
'The power To Transform Into Titans, The Captain wasn't lying about It ...'. The fascination at This Discovery didn't last long, though. 'However, that also means she isn't bluffing here.'
Her thoughts moved as she examined the wound on Dina's hand.
'She can transform into one at any Time. An Intelligent Titan, just like the armored and Colossal Titans ... No, perhaps she's one of Them.'
It was always a Mystery how the Titans had grown Intelligent enough to breach wall Maria entirely. Now she had her answer. Just like the Man who attacked This very Chapel all those years ago.
This woman was probably here for the same reason. To kill the king. However ...
Alma's gaze flickered to the 'Lord Reiss' beside her, who hadn't uttered a word since This happened. The opponent had no idea, that The one before her wasn't the real Rod Reiss at all.
Rather, he was a decoy who had been placed in his stead, Ever since the day The True Royal Family was attacked. Just like the king on The Throne, a puppet whose only purpose was to Play The Role of The Noble Lord Rod Reiss, the last survivor of The Tragic incident many years back.
As a devout believer in The True Royal Family, Alma was relieved. Nevertheless, it brought about an immediate Issue.
How to deal with the current situation.
For the past Two years, The Government had discovered that someone had been investigating into the True Rulers of The Walls.
Two years later, the enemy still hadn't been caught. Hence, a Trap had been set to lure The enemy out of hiding.
Using the Decoy Rod Reiss that had been set ever since The Fall of Wall Maria, they deliberately leaked the news of Rod Reiss visiting The Reiss Chapel, so his itinerary could be guessed and set a Trap, waiting for the enemy to take the bait.
Meaning The Lord Reiss she had been addressing all this time since The Carriage ride was a Fake.
The enemy didn't seem to know that, however, which was a blessing and a Problem.
It was clear that This ... Dina was after The True Royal Family. Once she learned that the Man before her was a fake, things would most likely escalate. Transforming immediately was almost a certainty.
Once that happened, they would all die here
As for running away? That also wasn't an option.
This enemy had prepared well. The ambush Team was most likely dead. Ironically, they were the ones In possession of the regular Maneuver Gear made for Titan combat. The Response Team had lost contact. Most likely, they died as well. Meaning, Dina hadn't come alone.
From this, her Team would be shot down as soon as they tried to escape. Alma was a calculating woman, and based on her understanding of the situation, this was her deduction.
The only plus here was The absence of True royalty and the fact that This woman didn't seem Intent on attacking right away and wanted a conversation.
Hence, with no better option, she had followed Dina's request to have the soldiers leave.
However, there was no way The Conversation would end well.
'Dammit! Things have gone very bad.'
Numerous similar thoughts ran through Alma's mind as she kept her fingers near the Firearm at her hip, silently regretting not keeping at least one trusted officer in the room.
If things went wrong, she and the fake Rod would be alone against a woman who could, at any moment, become something monstrous.
But what choice did she have?
From her perspective, Dina had them cornered from both sides. She has no idea that due to random coincidence, her forces at the rear were wiped out by a third party.
That her current circumstances were all due to dumb luck against her. To Alma, Dina was blocking them from both angles, ensuring they had no escape.
Hence, she complied while inwardly looking for a means of escape. Perhaps hoping to see one after understanding this woman's Motives and goals. However, the situation fell out Much faster than she could Imagine.
-----
Dina's POV
The light from the burning Torches illuminated the Chapel room. From a few feet away, Dina announced her identity and carefully examined the features of both individuals.
Neither reacted. Be it The female or The King of The Walls.
'It seems I'm not wrong.' The woman thought.
Her name was Dina Fritz. Or rather, her Name was Dina Jaeger. The first wife of the Father of The Main Protagonist, Eren Jaeger.
Forced to wander outside the walls of Paradis Island until The breach of Wall Maria.
In the process, her Mindless Titan encountered the opportunity to turn back into a human, and took it.
Hours later, she had woken up in the Fields of Wall Maria, naked in human form. Luckily, in an area devoid of other Titans. Time Elapsed quickly and soon, it had been Four years since she regained her humanity.
Finding out that she was actually inside the walls of Paradis Island, alive and not a Pure Titan, her goals had pushed her to learn a lot during this time.
Primarily, how the people here all believed the outside world was wiped out, filled with nothing but Titans. It didn't take her long to figure out the reason why.
Only one thing could cause every human to forget the history of the world, and make them all remember something entirely different.
The Founding Titan's power. In those Four years, she had laid low, hidden, searched For Information on its whereabouts, all leading to the point she found herself right now.
Face to Face with the True ruler of The walls. Seemingly the last living bloodline of The Royal Family That Migrated here, and The Most likely current Holder Of The Founding Titan, Rod Reiss.
"Unlike you, My branch of The Royal family refused to flee here. I was born in a place called Marley, in a land where our people are despised, enslaved, and used as weapons by those who fear our power."
Her face hardened as she spoke.
"I came to these walls searching for the true ruler of Eldia," Dina continued, "the inheritor of the Founding Titan. I know it is passed down through the generations of the Reiss family. If you're The last of The true Royal Family, then you should be Its Inheritor."
"And If you truly hold that power... then you must understand why I am here."
"..." Silence. Saying this much, she paused, watching his reaction, expecting recognition—perhaps even guilt. However,
"I can Imagine."
From Dina's gaze, the Middle-aged Fat man finally uttered a word.
Nevertheless, it wasn't one she would expect. Instantly Dina frowned, expecting More of a reaction from him.
"In that case, I take it you are the one who's been Investigating Me for the past few years?"
'He finally spoke, huh?'
Dina thought, then frowned.
"Indeed. However, do not try to divert the Question. ..." she uttered, her face solemn.
"I have lived among your people for years now. I have seen their suffering, their fear. I have watched families torn apart by Titans, seen villages wiped from existence in the blink of an eye." Her fingers curled into fists at her sides. "Your people call this a paradise, but it is nothing more than a prison, a cage built from ignorance and fear."
Her eyes bore into him now, challenging.
"Despite this, nothing has changed. Because you as their ruler, don't see it fit to act on it. Tell me, Why do you do nothing?"
Under her gaze, Lord Reiss paused for a moment. Seemingly contemplating his words before replying. "What would you have me do?"
'Huh?' hearing this, Dina was stunned. 'What is he?'
For the first Time, Dina was confused. What kind of Question was that?
"You ... What do you mean by that? I'm asking you why you don't use the Founding Titan's power to save your people. Four years ago, No one used the Founding Titan's power to stop the breach of Wall Maria."
"Thousands of Eldians died that year, all because of your unwillingness to act. Does the vow renouncing War have such a great effect ... That you can't even protect the peace of your people?"
Silence filled The Chapel
In her line of sight, Dina saw a crack in the expression of The True king of the Walls.
Also noticing the Change of the Female soldier standing next to him. For a moment, Dina grew suspicious.
"Why," Dina repeated, her voice gaining an edge, "do you refuse to use the power of the Founder to free your people from this nightmare?"
Dina's voice carried the weight of generations.
The man before her shifted again. His fingers twitched against the wood of his chair.
Then, silence.
Long. Uncomfortable.
Dina narrowed her eyes. His expression wasn't one of defiance. Nor guilt. Nor even the hollow acceptance of a man bound by a cursed ideology.
It was confusion.
He doesn't understand.
Dina glanced at Alma, expecting some reaction. But the woman was watching the man beside her, waiting.

Dina's eyes flicked back to "Rod Reiss." A bead of sweat traced down his temple.
"Lord Reiss," she pressed, slower this time, watching his every twitch, every breath. "You do hold the Founder, don't you?"
Silence.
He licked his lips. His fingers curled tighter against the wood. "I... I do not believe in war," he forced out. "The Titans are... are a punishment. We must endure."
A punishment.
Not the will of the first king.
Not the burden of the Eldian race.
Not even the empty echoes of royal pacifism.
Just a punishment.
Dina felt the pieces clicking into place, sharp edges scraping against the walls of her mind.
A royal should know.
A Reiss should know.
The Founding Titan wasn't just a weapon. It was history itself, passed through the bloodline for a century.
Dina's lips pressed into a thin line. She had come here prepared for resistance. For denial. But ignorance? That was not something she had anticipated.
And then—realization struck.
She slowly straightened, her eyes scanning them both. Something was wrong.
Her mind turned back to the King of Marley, to the stories she had heard of Karl Fritz. The royal family of Eldia had always known the truth. They had protected it. Hidden it. And yet, this man before her—the supposed ruler of Paradis, the inheritor of the Founder—knew nothing?
Her fingers twitched
"You..."Dina whispered, heart pounding as realization crashed down. "You are not the one who holds it."
The man tensed.
The air between them went still.
Dina's breath left her in a slow exhalation. No... not just that. It was worse.
Her voice was barely above a whisper now, but it cut through the chapel like a blade.
"You are not even a Reiss." The next reaction confirmed it. Under her gaze, the supposed Lord she had been talking to swallowed hard, then glanced at The Female beside him with a begging gaze.

Mark's POV
The jig was up. Feeling her Intense Scrutiny, Mark, the paid decoy for The noble, Rod Reiss was sweating profusely.
The man swallowed, beads of sweat forming at his temple. He had no idea what she was talking about.
In fact, he barely understood the situation in the first place.
The Founding Titan? Subject of Ymir? Eldian? He didn't understand a word. He was a stunt double, a paid actor, a lookalike of Rod Reiss hired to take his place as the Noble Lord or The Reiss estate.
He had been like this For Four Years. Technically speaking, those were the best Four years of his life. However, from what he could gleam from the current situation, he knew things had gone south. Terribly south.
If he didn't know any better, he would have thought he was talked to a Lunatic. Maybe he was, but the scary ass Military Police seemed to be afraid of her.
To save his own life, he had subconsciously played along, using what lines he thought fit best with the Current situation.
Turns out, he had blown his cover.
'Dammit! I don't get paid enough For this.'
"You are not even a Reiss."
He could feel the woman's gaze grow increasingly colder. 'Dad was right. Women are terrible creatures.'
Mark's throat tightened. His fingers twitched, but he didn't dare move. The woman's gaze was drilling into him, and for the first time since taking this job, he truly felt like he was about to die.
"I... I don't know what you're talking about," he croaked.
Dina took a slow step forward, her expression darkening. "You. Are. Lying."
Alma's hand inched toward her firearm. She was calculating—trying to find a way out, but Dina didn't even need to make an action.
She has already cut her Hand before this conversation began. It was Impossible to kill her Instantly as she would Just Transform either way.
And so, yellow lightning pulsed around her form.
Mark's eyes widened. Alma cursed.
"No—!" Alma lunged for her gun.
Too late.
The wound sizzled, steaming as her royal blood reacted. The veins in her arm darkened with Titan energy.
And then—
The lightning show in the Chapel dissipated after a brief flash. Nothing happened, a result that left both Dina and Alma who had reached for her gun, confused.
The silence that followed was overwhelming.
'It ... Didn't work?' Both women had the same thoughts on their minds. Dina especially, hurriedly raised her palm and bit down.
Blood flowed, and yet ... Nothing. This time, not even a Transformation spark.
'What's going on?' Dina was shocked.
"I can't Transform ... Why Can't I Transform?" She mutters, her voice laced with disbelief.
"Sorry ..."
It happened then. A male voice that didn't belong to any of them resounded in the small building.
Everyone froze, Dina in particular as the voice came from behind her. The next moment, a Pair of glowing red eyes emerged from the darkness, both carrying the same unique Pattern, twisting in unison.
"That would be My doing."
