With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods-Chapter 1100: Depth of cooperation
There weren't many places that they could go since they were outsiders in the first place.
Many of these doors had special locks on them that required either retina scans or fingerprints to open. As outsiders, it was only natural that Lin Fan and Sirius wouldn't be able to open these doors.
In fact, they were here in secret so it would actually cause more trouble if they had tried.
Lin Fan naturally wouldn't allow that to happen, even though Sirius was curious about how these locks worked.
The good thing was that there were plenty of researchers that were in this research base.
There were far more compared to the researchers that had been assigned to the base on the cultivation continent. That just went to show how much was invested in this base compared to the other base.
But at the same time, it was the difference between backers.
The Kalos Empire couldn't be looked down on.
With these researchers moving about, it was quite easy to enter many of these different rooms that were locked.
Only the reasons that they entered these rooms wasn't a good one.
There was only one reason that these researchers could be entering these rooms and it was naturally for their work.
Many of these rooms were filled with large glass vats just like the first room that we encountered. At the same time, most of these glass vats were filled with creatures that had been experimented on.
There were some that were empty, but they were still labelled which meant that whatever should have been in here was currently wandering about.
Whatever should have been in there was most likely currently wandering about doing something.
It was likely that they were on patrol just like the deer had been on.
Still, it was a problem how many of these rooms there were.
With how many vats there were, there should at least be a few thousand of these creatures that were being cultured. Each of them possessed the might in the Qi Condensation Realm…
This kind of power would without a doubt be enough to wipe out any normal level sect.
It would also cause a problem for any kingdom on the cultivation continent.
Put together with the army of the Kalos Empire…
Well, it certainly seemed like it would be painful if the Kalos Empire were to initiate an invasion of the cultivation continent.
Only how were they supposed to destroy this place?
The moment that Lin Fan or Sirius did anything, they would alert the Kalos Empire of what they were doing.
There was no way that they would be able to leave this place unscathed.
Following the researchers for a bit allowed Lin Fan to find some more important people. These were people that were dressed in a way that showed that they were more important.
After all, they were people that weren't wearing the same contamination suits and were bossing the normal researchers around.
If he followed them, then he would be able to get more information.
Only it turned out that was a bit of miscalculation.
As he was following these lead researchers…
"We have to meet with those people from the Kalos Empire again."
"Right, it's a pain meeting them each time. They always come up with difficult requests and we have to work around the clock to meet them."
"If it wasn't for the fact that we need their money, then I would give them a piece of my mind."
"Ha, forget it. Just wait until we finish our research and then we'll show them who they're messing with. Until then, just suck it up and keep accepting their money."
When Lin Fan heard that these researchers were planning to meet with people from the Kalos Empire, he knew that he shouldn't be here. After all, the Kalos Empire had people that were strong enough that they could see through his illusion spell.
Currently, they were inside of a room with these lead researchers.
This was a room that seemed to be some kind of meeting room, so he thought that they were just holding a meeting on their own. But now it seemed like they had come to this place for their meeting with the representatives from the Kalos Empire.
Being stuck in this room with the researchers and the representatives from the Kalos Empire was the last thing that Lin Fan wanted.
It was just that it was too late for him to leave.
The lead researchers seemed like they had received some kind of notification as they suddenly stopped talking and started organizing something. The way that they made themselves look was as if they were trying to make themselves seem professional.
That meant that the representatives from the Kalos Empire were most likely here.
It really wasn't good to leave this room now…
The only thing that Lin Fan could do was wait for the representatives of the Kalos Empire to come in.
If they were able to see through his illusion spell, that meant that he would have no choice but to fight his way out of this place. If they couldn't see through the illusion spell, then at least he would be able to keep hiding and learn some information.
Sirius also could tell that this was serious, so he was prepared for a fight just in case.
But it turned out that it wasn't necessary.
"Announcing Count Victor." That was the first thing that was said when the door opened and the Kalos Empire group was revealed.
In fact, there was someone that was even rolling out a red carpet for the one called Count Victor.
It seemed that this was someone that really cared about his own nobility and how others saw him. It was to the point where he was even rolling out red carpets like this to make himself seem special.
After walking in, his servants started preparing a place for him to sit.
It was as if he didn't trust how clean this place was that they wiped down the chair that was left open for him. They even made sure to put a handkerchief on the chair where his butt would sit so that he wouldn't have to touch the chair itself.
Though it was strange the way that he was acting, the lead researchers didn't say anything about this.
The looks on their faces was as if they were already used to dealing with this. It was as if they had already seen this kind of behaviour from this Count Victor before, which was why they didn't react.
Once he was seated, Count Victor didn't even bother saying anything as he gave a snort and raised his head.
It was at this that the servants from before came forward to ask, "How is the research going?"
Once again, the lead researchers didn't find this strange as they started giving a report on their current research.
During this time, Lin Fan and Sirius remained still and silent to make sure that they weren't discovered. However, Lin Fan could tell that there was no one in this Count Victor's group that was actually strong enough that they would be able to see through his illusion spell.
This was a group of servants that followed this count who seemed to be nothing more than a powerless noble. In that case, there was no real problem listening in on this conversation.
It would give him a good idea of what the Kalos Empire was planning.
Once they were done with their report, Count Victor finally said something, "How long before they are ready for deployment?"
This time, the researchers didn't answer right away.
It seemed that they were pondering something with the way that they held their tongue. But seeing that Count Victor was still waiting, they finally said, "It should be a while before they're ready. We're still in the beginning phases, they still haven't been modified enough that they would be able to perform properly. At the same time, there are still problems with the obedience training. It would take at least a year before we could make any significant progress."
Count Victor slapped the table once this was said before narrowing his eyes to say, "Cut it down to six months."
The lead researchers all revealed awkward looks when they heard this before saying, "We can try, but it'll be dangerous if they aren't tested properly. We would need at least ten months to even start trials, so it wouldn't be possible to do it in six months."
"Nine months." Count Victor said with the same narrowed eyes.
The lead researchers tried to reason with him, but it didn't seem like he was planning on listening to them at all.
So in the end, they had no choice but to agree to the nine month deadline that had been set.
With that, Count Victor gave a satisfied nod and walked out.
But what he didn't know was…
"Psh, it'll only take a month for us to test and we get to take his money for another eight months for free. If we just give him one or two beasts, he'll be happy." fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
"Right, those idiots from the Kalos Empire really don't know anything."
It seemed that the relationship between the research facility and the Kalos Empire wasn't that good either.
But one thing was certain, the Kalos Empire was planning something and it seemed to be coming within the year.
That meant that it wouldn't be long before they started their invasion of the cultivation continent…
