Chapter 673: Chapter 503: Tomb of Landry (Two in One)_2

That day, Justin and Bob felt they had finally figured out Mr. Hamby’s movements and decided to take action to bring him in for questioning about his connection with the Mutant Beast.

However, when the two of them entered the church, pretending to be Prayers, they were surprised to find that besides themselves, there was no one else there.

"Justin, I have a bad feeling about this. Let’s retreat for now. I feel like there’s something off about this church..."

Bob whispered to his companion.

Justin frowned, clearly considering whether to return immediately, but his gaze fixed on a window in the prayer hall and he squinted.

"There’s something strange over there, let’s check it out!"

He instantly made up his mind and, together with Bob, approached that seemingly ordinary window.

This was a huge window, over two meters tall, painted with an ancient door bathed in light as if it were a pathway to Heaven.

Such windows and designs are commonly found in every church, the only difference being the slight variations in their sizes, which was influenced by the size of the church they were in.

The window Justin and Bob were looking at was quite large, and the door depicted reflected the light, giving it a somewhat sacred appearance.

"No, there’s definitely something wrong here, look!"

Justin, without a hint of respect, began feeling around the window and used a portable light scanner to inspect everything there.

Eventually, as the purple light passed over a droplet-shaped pattern on the window, several faint fingerprint traces were revealed.

A delighted look crossed Justin’s face, and he immediately pressed his hand on the droplet.

"Click~"

With a soft click, the window suddenly loosened, and a gap appeared at its base.

"A secret passage!"

The two exchanged a glance, their years of partnership allowing them instantly to understand each other’s thoughts.

Without hesitation, Justin gently pushed open the window and went in first.

Bob also felt the pistol in his pocket and followed him in.

Different from what they had imagined, the space inside was very small and pitch dark, almost impossible to see the surroundings.

Justin shone a flashlight forward and realized what came into view was a staircase leading downward.

"Click~"

Suddenly, that sound of a lock clicking came from behind them again. They turned back and saw that the window had closed on its own.

They turned around to look for a mechanism to re-open the window, but luck didn’t seem to be on their side this time; despite searching, they found no clues.

"Let’s go, let’s go down and see."

Justin no longer wasted time at the entrance and turned his attention back to the staircase ahead.

Bob nodded, agreeing with his decision.

Both were high-level agents from the Hurricane Bureau, possessing very advanced Combat Skill and mental toughness; they felt no fear at all in such an environment.

Their footfalls on the stairs were nearly silent as they slowly moved down.

Moments later,

"Damn it, what the hell is this place? Why doesn’t this staircase ever end..."

Bob, unable to see the end of the continuing staircase, couldn’t help but mutter softly.

They had already descended the equivalent of at least eight floors, with the walls around them transforming from fine wood to damp stone, but the staircase still had no end in sight.

The surroundings had also drastically changed, resembling the filthiest sewer in a city, becoming nauseating.

Finally, after progressing another approximate 20 meters downward, the stairs came to an end, revealing an old, worn wooden door.

Looking at the cruciform sword emblem on the wooden door, Justin couldn’t help but recall a legend about this church.

According to records, beneath a certain church in Bali City, there lay a secret tomb chamber that enshrined the body of the former Crusader leader Landry, along with his knight brethren.

Everyone had always thought it was just an ancient rumor. After all, there were so many churches in Bali, and no one had ever discovered any hidden secrets beneath any of them, so naturally, no one believed such talk.

However, what Justin and his companion had not expected was that Mr. Hamby, whom they were investigating, would actually lead them to such a place.

It turned out that the so-called Crusader’s tomb really existed and was indeed beneath the Four-One Church.

"Damn, what the hell are they up to?"

Bob couldn’t help but curse softly, having thought it was just an ordinary secret chamber. He had never imagined it was such a large place.

"Be careful, the situation inside is very strange. Stay alert."

Justin warned his companion and then slowly pushed open the wooden door before him.

"Squee~ Squee~ Squee~"

Despite his gentle approach, the wooden door, being too old, still made a series of strained noises.

"Whew~"

Taking a light breath, Justin surveyed the environment inside.

The room before him was vast, just as the rumors had described. It was indeed a tomb chamber, filled with hundreds of bodies, each dressed in the once revered attire of the church’s crusaders.

Torches burned in the room, clearly showing signs of human activity, and cobwebs spread all around. Only the narrow path in the middle was unobstructed.

"Let’s go."

Justin softly spoke to his companion, and the two carefully moved along the corridor.

They were seasoned secret agents. Although the scene in the tomb chamber was sufficiently shocking, neither of them felt any discomfort—these were just bodies, after all. Compared to corpses, living people were far more terrifying.

With each step they took, they quickly reached the end of the tomb chamber. Justin, eyeing the wooden door in front of them, squeezed the gun in his hand, then cautiously pushed it open.

"Squeak squeak squeak squeak!"

As soon as the door opened, the sight inside startled him—a pair of crimson red eyes all fixed on them, along with the accompanying sharp, piercing cries.

"Rats!"

Justin realized, his body unconsciously soaked in cold sweat.

The rats before them numbered in the hundreds, each the size of a mature house cat, with fierce appearances that sent chills down one’s spine at a glance.

Fortunately, these rats were all locked in cages. Although each one stared with bloodthirsty eyes, they were unable to break free from the confinement of the cages and could only make frantic squeaking noises inside.

"Damn it! Are these mutant beasts? Mr. Hamby, that guy, must indeed be involved in this. He might even be the mastermind behind the entire incident!"

Bob swore under his breath, took a torch from the wall, and led the way forward, swinging it.

The rats seemed somewhat afraid of the torch’s light; they all retreated backward when faced with the burning flames.

"Heh, filthy creatures."

Bob scoffed inwardly, completely unafraid of the darkness before him, and continued advancing.

As they proceeded, their surroundings grew increasingly dirty and chaotic. If not for the Crusader’s shields hanging on the walls, they might have believed they had ventured into the sewers of Bali City.

"Be careful, I think I heard something ahead."

Justin stopped in his tracks and listened attentively for a moment, but the noisy chatter of the rats around them was too loud, and he couldn’t quite make out any sounds.

"I know..."

Bob lifted the gun in his hand and gently pushed open the wooden door in front of them.

But as the door opened, the next second, a large hand suddenly reached out from it, seizing Bob’s head, and shockingly hoisted him up in one strong move.
